Loss of QB Matt Nichols could haunt Winnipeg
Matt Nichols is in the middle of a monster campaign for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. However, he suffered an upper body injury against the BC Lions and has been placed on the six-game injured list.
Obviously, this is terrible news for the Blue Bombers. The offense will now be turned over to second-year signal caller Chris Streveler. With Nichols out, Winnipeg has 2.87 odds to win, while this week's opponent the Edmonton Eskimos are listed at 1.33 according to PowerPlay.
While Winnipeg is the better team on paper, the loss of Nichols is massive. We'll go with Edmonton to come out on top.
Ottawa vs. Saskatchewan will be closer than you think
Come Saturday night, the Redblacks and Roughriders will meet in a showdown that Saskatchewan is expected to dominate. The Roughridgers are 5-3 on the year, while Ottawa is 3-6.
Well, let's think twice here. Per PowerPlay, the Roughriders are 10-point favorites. The Redblacks have 1.85 odds to cover. Can they get that done?
While Ottawa has lost three of its last four games, they've lost those three contests by an average of 6.33 points.
Though Saskatchewan has what it takes to dominate, look for Ottawa to make this a close game and cover the spread.
Hamilton ready to take over league's best record
With the Blue Bombers facing six weeks without star quarterback Matt Nichols, this opens the door for Hamilton to own the top record in the CFL. It starts this weekend against the BC Lions.
The Lions have now lost five consecutive games, while Hamilton is riding a two-game winning streak.
With 1.44 odds to improve to 8-2, they should have little trouble getting the job done.
Alouettes and Argonauts will close out Week 11 on Sunday
Last but not least, Toronto and Montreal will meet on Sunday night. For the Alouettes, quarterback Vernon Adams powered the team to a thrilling overtime win over Calgary last week.
In that victory, Adams threw for a career-high 389 yards off 32-of-50 passing. This week, he'll look to lead the offense against Toronto's questionable defense.
With 1.42 odds to win this one straight up, Montreal is expected to earn a close win. And with Adams playing hot, we're taking them.
