CFL: Lions vs Alouettes A Pick'em in Week 7 Betting Lines

Week 7 of the CFL season is upon us and already, just about every game on the slate has significant overtones in the schedule. The 5-1 Winnipeg Blue Bombers are afforded the longest spread in the CFL odds. The reigning Grey Cup champions are 6.5-point favourites over the Edmonton Elks in the CFL Week 7 picks. Meanwhile, the tilt between the B.C. Lions and Montreal Alouettes are being set as a pick'em.

CFL 2021 Week 7 Predictions

  • The reigning Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 6.5-point favourites over the Edmonton Elks in Week 7 CFL action
  • The B.C. Lions-Montreal Alouettes game is set as a pick'em by oddsmakers
  • As well, the Lions-Alouettes contest is offering the highest total at 48.5 points

The last time the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were Grey Cup champions in successive seasons was in 1961-62. This season, the Blue Bombers seem bound and determined to be to repeat as titleholders.

Winnipeg is proving to be the best bet in the CFL odds. The Blue Bombers are leading the CFL West Division with a league-best 5-1 record. That's two more wins than any of the eight other teams in the league.

Winnipeg is coming off back-to-back wins over the 3-2 Saskatchewan Roughriders, first-place finishers when the previous CFL season was contested in 2019. They are the longest favourite entering Week 7 action. The Bombers are a 6.5-point choice over the 2-3 Edmonton Elks in the weekly CFL picks.

The Riders are 3.5-point favourites over the East-leading Toronto Argonauts in a clash of 3-2 clubs. At Hamilton, the Tiger-Cats will be a 1.5-point choice over the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL betting odds.

Oddsmakers aren't making a call in the CFL picks on the Montreal Alouettes-B.C. Lions contest. The game is listed as a pick'em.

Calgary Stampeders (1.91) at Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1.91)

It's been an up-and-down campaign for the reigning Eastern champion Tiger-Cats. They lost their first two games and then won two in a row. Hamilton comes into this game off a loss to Toronto and looking to avoid another two-game losing skid.

There's another worry for the Ti-Cats. They could be without quarterback Jeremiah Masoli (ribs) for the second straight game.

Calgary is coming into this tilt off an impressive win at Edmonton. QB Bo Levi Mitchell has had a game to shake off the cobwebs from his own injury absence. Calgary's defensive front was dominant against the Elks. This one has the feeling of an upset.

Toronto Argonauts (1.83) at Saskatchewan Roughriders (2.00)

It's been a weird week for the Argos. They beat arch-rival Hamilton. Then defensive coordinator Glen Young and defensive backs coach Josh Bell left the team. Chris Jones, in charge of the Grey Cup champion Toronto defence in 2012, was brought back to the pros from a high school coaching position. Defence hasn't been an issue for the Double Blue. They sacked the QB four times in their 17-16 win at Hamilton.

After a 3-0 start, the Riders were whipped twice by Winnipeg. They also might be missing QB Cody Fajardo. He suffered a concussion in the second loss to the Blue Bombers and is listed as questionable. Take the Argos and the 3.5 points in the CFL picks.

B.C. Lions (1.91) at Montreal Alouettes (1.91)

The Alouettes will be without coach Khari Jones (COVID 19). But Montreal is coming off a bye week and will be well-rested.

Two of B.C.'s three wins are against 1-4 Ottawa, the other against 2-4 Calgary. This is the chance for the Lions to step up and shine in the CFL picks.

Montreal (28.5 points per game) and B.C. (25.8 ppg) are the 1-2 scoring offenses in the CFL, so play the over in the CFL odds.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1.95) vs Edmonton Elks (1.87)

Might the Bombers be in danger of an emotional letdown following two huge wins over arch-rival Saskatchewan? Is an upset brewing in the CFL odds?

Based on the manner in which Calgary's defence lived in Edmonton's backfield last week, probably not. Winnipeg is the CFL's No. 1 scoring defence (12.6 ppg).
