Bet On Toronto FC’s Games

Toronto FC fans could well be described as some of the most passionate, and patient, in the MLS. In spite of starting the competition with nine-straight seasons with more losses than wins, the TFC faithful continued to turn out game after game.

The fans were finally rewarded in 2016 when TFC not only managed to end this streak by finishing with fourteen wins and 9 defeats, they also made it all the way to the final of the MLS Cup, only to be defeated by Seattle after a dour scoreless draw went to penalties. Since then, they have had middling success and even making it to the playoffs in 2020. They are entering this season with higher hopes than in years past.

Having only been inaugurated into the MLS in 2007, the Toronto FC has had a remarkable go at it after an understandable rough start.

The Reds promised to make amends in 2017 and were absolutely emphatic. The side broke the record for the most points gained in a regular season, finished with a goal difference of +37 and wrapped up the Supporter’s Shield with three weeks left in the competition. They have also improved defensively and were almost unbeatable at BMO Field over the last two seasons.

Back to back MLS Cup Finals against the Seattle Sounders has induced a brand new rivalry, and the matches between the two sides are always tense. In recent years, the fixtures have featured few goals, and you can certainly make money by betting on the “both teams to score market” by selecting ‘no’ when these two come up against each other.

Toronto does tend to score plenty of goals in other matches though and is particularly productive in front of the goal against rivals Montreal Impact. In three games against the Impact in 2017, the Reds scored seven times. The Impact also scored six, aided by their upset 5-3 victory at BMO Field.

Montreal and Toronto have a history of high-scoring fixtures. Prior to the 2016 MLS Cup Final, the sides went head to head in a two-match tie, that finished 5-5 (3-2 in each leg) and was eventually settled in extra time after Toronto scored twice more. That equates to 25 goals in the last five “401 Derbies”, a fixture that has been dominated by Toronto FC recently.

Another option is to review the player markets, and you can’t go wrong with placing a goalscoring bet on either Jozy Altidore or Jonathan Osorio. It is rare to see a Toronto FC match with neither on the scoresheet. This is the type of information that is going to help you in your betting exploits.

Regardless of your choice of bet, Toronto FC is currently one of the best teams in the MLS to place a wager on, and they are expected to dominate the league for at least the next season or two given their incredible roster. There are always hundreds of different betting options available every matchday, so if you have done your analysis and chosen your sources wisely, you’re likely in for a winning weekend!
