In this article, Canada Sports Betting’s Nick Martin breaks down the two best NHL player prop picks that provide value at online sportsbooks today (4/13/26).
These player prop guides enter Monday’s slate up +6.01 units across 169 selections this season, after a split on last Friday’s card. That leaves us with a solid +3.6% ROI, but running into a slump down the stretch has certainly been frustrating.
We’ve got two exciting player prop plays to outline from Monday’s 10-game card, with both selections coming from matchups that still hold playoff significance.
Daniel Vladar Under 2.5 Goals Against: -110
Vladar under 2.5 goals against
After earning a convincing 7-1 win in Winnipeg on Saturday, the Philadelphia Flyers return home with the opportunity to officially secure a playoff berth, which two months ago seemed highly improbable. The Flyers have played to a record of 16-7-1 since the Olympic break and have allowed only 2.42 goals against per game, which is the second-best mark in the NHL in that span.
The underlying metrics suggest the Flyers have legitimately elevated their game quite significantly down the stretch. For much of the season they hung around in the playoff race by dragging games into overtime, but since the Olympic break they hold the best xGA/60 rating in the NHL, and have allowed only 23.66 shots against per 60.
Philadelphia’s fans were bitter over the weekend as the Washington Capitals collected four points versus a Pittsburgh Penguins side that rested plenty of key pieces in both matchups. Monday’s matchup versus the Carolina Hurricanes offers the Flyers a chance to benefit from a similar situation, as the Hurricanes appear likely to rest several very important skaters, including their entire top line.
Over his last 12 starts, Vladar holds a .912 save percentage and 2.17 GAA. Due to the Flyers’ current defensive form and the favourable matchup versus a shorthanded Hurricanes side, he should have a great chance to finish his regular season with a strong showing Monday.
At -110, there’s value in backing the Flyers to allow fewer than two goals in this matchup, or for bettors who only have access to bet365, backing the Hurricanes to score fewer than 2.5 goals at +100.
Filip Forsberg/Jonathan Marchessault 1+ Point Each: +120
Forsberg/Marchessault points parlay
We’ve consistently been very high on Forsberg down the stretch, and Monday’s critical matchup versus the San Jose Sharks presents as a great spot to go back to the well. Forsberg and Marchessault were both held pointless in each of the last two matchups, but those were low-event games versus the Minnesota Wild and Utah Mammoth, who are both drastically better defensively than the Sharks.
Over the last 20 games, Forsberg has recorded 24 points and has looked like a full-fledged offensive superstar. In the same span, Marchessault has put up 13 points, a mark that seems surprisingly low given that his play alongside Forsberg on the second line has looked quite solid.
The two also link up on the Predators’ top power-play unit, and Nashville’s power play holds a success rate of 22.7% over the last 15 games.
The Sharks have allowed 3.57 goals against per game this season, and 4.07 goals against per game over the last 15 matchups. Their penalty kill has struggled of late, while their defensive play at even strength has also been poor, with both of those concerns been particularly apparent due to shaky goaltending.
As the Los Angeles Kings’ final two matchups come versus the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames, Nashville likely will not get the help it needs to sneak into the playoffs, but it should be able to keep its hopes on life support with a convincing offensive performance versus the Sharks Monday.
