Busch Stadium will be rocking for Game 1
For the first time since 2015, the St. Louis Cardinals are back in the MLB playoffs. The team is hoping to win its first World Series since 2011. Standing in their way, however, are the red-hot Washington Nationals.
The Nats indeed shocked the MLB world by defeating the Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLDS, lighting up Clayton Kershaw and Joe Kelly late to get the job done.
However, the Cards also lit up the Braves in their Game 5 battle, and look to keep the ball rolling in Game 1, sending Miles Mikolas to the bump on Friday.
With the Cards as the favorites, holding 1.77 odds to win, we believe they'll be able to get the job done.
Nats will be ready to even things up in Game 2
Though Game 2 will also be played in St. Louis, Washington should have the upperhand. Why? We've got two words for you: Max Scherzer.
The superstar righty looked brilliant in the NLDS against L.A. and will look to keep his wicked stuff going against the Cardinals on Saturday.
Yes, St. Louis features plenty of studs at the plate like Tommy Edman, Paul Goldschmidt, Marcell Ozuna and others, but Scherzer is one of the best hurlers out there.
Because of this, look for the Nats to steal a game from the Cards at Busch here.
Who will be able to pull away with a Game 3 win?
With the Nationals up 2-0 in the series, Washington sends Stephen Stasburg to the hill in Game 3. Meanwhile for St. Louis, stud Jack Flaherty will get the ball.
This is a premium pitching matchup as Strasbug has 21 strikeouts over 15 playoff innings. Flaherty has been excellent as well with 16 K's over 13 innings.
With Flaherty throwing gas, it'll be tough for the Nats to get anything going, which is why we're picking STL to win.
Nationals the favorites to get to the World Series
With the Dodgers now out of the picture, the race in the National League to get to the World Series has taken a major turn.
However, after downing Los Angeles, the Nats are the team to beat. The Nationals hold 1.83 odds to win the NL Pennant, while the Cardinals (2.00) are dogs.
With Washington's elite starting rotation, the oddsmakers out there are giving them the edge. Think those odds are correct? Get your bet in today.
