NHL Weekend Free Picks: November 15-17

NHL Weekend Free Picks: November 15-17

This weeks’ NHL has been manic. We’ve had a few upsets after some excellent performances from the underdogs, notably the Panthers win over the Bruins.

Then yesterday we were graced with a career-high points tally from Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Connor got three goals and three assists, while Draisaitl had five assists – career highs for points in a game for both players.

So without further ado, let’s get stuck into this weekend’s games.

Boston Bruins (2.54) @ Toronto Maple Leafs (2.36)

We head North of the border for an Atlantic Division matchup. Both teams lost their previous two games and will be looking to make up for that here.

Toronto, who are 9-7-4 overall, can go up a level than what we’ve seen this season, we feel they’re still getting into their stride and as the season progresses we’ll see improved performances.

Boston is dealing with injuries at the moment, which has resulted in them losing 4 games on the trot – quite a contrasting situation to where the Bruins were a month ago. The loss of Tory Krug is monumental for Boston, they are short in defense.

Boston are on 11-3-4 for the season outright.

Toronto have performed well at home this season and they won the last matchup between these two at the Scotiabank Arena.

With both teams struggling of late, NHL betting odds for this pick are fairly even, the Bruins performance overall this season makes you want to give them it. But we don’t see it that way.

Take the Maple Leafs to win this.

      Dallas Stars (2.85) @ Edmonton Oilers (2.19)

Mistakenly, we went against the Oilers and doubted their ability to bounce back in yesterdays’ NHL picks, after losing to the Sharks.

We won’t do that again today. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl put on a show yesterday, they embraced the idea of getting back on top after a loss. The Oilers were electric and shut out a strong Colorado side.

The Stars come into this game having beaten the Canucks and Flames in their last two, will it be a third Canadian side in a row they put to the sword?

The Oilers sit at 13-6-2 outright, while the Stars are at 10-8-2 for the season. A win in this one would see the Oilers maintain top spot in the Pacific Division.

Take the Oilers to win this one.

      Colorado Avalanche (2.86) @ Vancouver Canucks (2.17)

Saturdays’ game will take us to the Rogers Arena for a matchup between two Western Conference teams, as the Avalanche take on the Canucks.

Even though both teams have been excellent this season, Colorado just took a pasting from the Oilers.

The game exposed the Avalanches’ rookie goaltender, who endured a long night. They are 11-6-2 outright this campaign.

Sadly for Colorado fans, he’ll be back between the pipes for this one as a growing list of injuries is causing rotation issues.

The Canucks, who are 7th in the NHL power rankings, have lost five in their last 6, including a 4-2 loss to the Stars in their last. But we feel the goaltender issue for Colorado will be the overwhelming factor in this result.

Vancouver go 10-7-3 for the season outright.

Take a win for the Canucks at home.

Winnipeg Jets (3.73) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (1.79)

Saturday’s game takes us to the Amalie Arena in Tampa, for a matchup between the Winnipeg Jets (11-8-1) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (9-5-2).

This was a difficult NHL free pick for us because we feel the Jets have played pretty well this season, however, the Lightning have won their last three – beating the New York Rangers 9-3 in spectacular fashion in their last.

Tampa Bay are led in the scoring charts by Steven Stamkos (6 goals, 12 assists) and Nikita Kucherov (6 goals, 11 assists), who scored 4 points against the Rangers.

Mark Scheifele put on a strong performance against the Florida Panthers, in a game that ended 4-3 to Winnipeg.

He’s joined by Nikolaj at the top of the Jets scoring tables. Both players are on 8 goals for the season and will look to improve on that in this one.

Expect the Tampa Bay Lightning to win this one.
