Rounding out our 2025 NFL division betting previews, the AFC South is always an intriguing division to monitor. While on paper not every team appears to be a Super Bowl contender, we’ve seen plenty of surprises emerge from this division and flip the NFL script in a hurry.
Leading the way as the dominant force within the AFC South is the Houston Texans, who finished with a winning record for the second straight season. Coming off of a tough loss in the 2024 NFL Playoffs at the hands of the eventual AFC Champion, Kansas City Chiefs, the rapidly developing Texans are once again the team to beat in the AFC South.
Still in the midst of a changing of the guard, the Indianapolis Colts are currently in no man’s land this season. With playoffs not off the table, the Colts are going to need to find their identity quickly this season as they hope to put an end to their four-season playoff drought.
After breaking out in 2022, the Jacksonville Jaguars have failed to regain their momentum. With back-to-back seasons missing the playoffs, including a rough 4-13 finish last year, Trevor Lawrence and company are in desperate need of a bounce back campaign in 2025.
Lastly, one of the most fascinating squads in the NFL to watch this season, the new-look Tennessee Titans, are hopeful to begin the Cam Ward era on a high note. Having finished with a losing record in three consecutive seasons, the time for change is now in the Music City as Ward and the Titans look to change the tune of critics and analysts across the NFL.

Season Win Total: Over 9.5 (+100) Under 9.5 (-130)
2024 Record: 10-7

Key Subtractions: LT Laremy Tunsil, WR Stefon Diggs, CB Jeff Okudah, LB Devin White, WR John Metchie III
Most Important Game on the Schedule: In Week 14, the Texans will have the chance to finally defeat a team that has long been the bane of their franchise’s existence, the Kansas City Chiefs. Dating back to 2015, the Texans have been eliminated in all three postseason meetings they’ve had with the Chiefs, including last year’s 23-14 loss. With revenge on their minds, look for the Texans to prove that they’re among the top Super Bowl contenders in the AFC by taking down the Chiefs on the road, under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football.
Prop to Watch: Having recorded back-to-back seasons with over 6.5 receiving touchdowns, be sure to hammer this line when it comes to Texans wide receiver, Nico Collins, in 2025. One of the premier deep threats in the game, Collins excels at burning defenders downfield using his blazing-fast speed and stellar size to haul in big gains regularly. Collins only appeared in 12 games for the Texans in 2024, but still managed to rack up eight touchdowns. If he’s able to play closer to the 16-game mark in 2025, Collins will be primed to smash his previous personal best this year.
Potential Breakout Player: In 2022, it looked like Texans running back Dameon Pierce was positioning himself to become the running back of the future after amassing 939 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games played. However, after signing the likes of Devin Singletary in 2023, and Joe Mixon in 2024, Pierce found himself pushed down the depth chart with limited snaps coming his way. It may not have happened for him in his rookie season, but Pierce has a grade-A opportunity to showcase that he belongs as a starter in the NFL this season. With Mixon down and out for an undisclosed amount of time, as well as plenty of uncertainty following Nick Chubb after his disappointing 2024 campaign, Pierce may be thrust into the limelight early on this season, finally being given the chance to produce on a winning team.
Betting Projection: Looking like a Lamborghini at a trap house, the Texans are a Super Bowl contender within the worst division in football. Sporting one of the scariest offences across the NFL, as well as a top-notch defence, the Texans are the complete package. With quarterback C.J. Stroud entering his third season, the young core of the Texans has earned its stripes and is now ready to make a deep push into the playoffs, which’ll have them jockeying for a date in the Super Bowl.

Key Subtractions: C Ryan Kelly, K Matt Gay, LB E.J. Speed, S Julian Blackmon, RG Will Fries
Most Important Game on the Schedule: Needing to prove that they’re trending in the right direction, the Colts’ Week 3 duel with the Titans is their most important game on the 2025 schedule. After kicking the season off with back-to-back tough matchups against the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos, the Colts will need to prove that while they may not be a playoff contender, they’re still better than the bottom-feeders of the NFL. Look for the Colts to put their all into this crucial divisional clash as they provide a warm welcome to Cam Ward in his first taste of divisional play.
Prop to Watch: Having generated at least 10 rushing touchdowns in all three seasons in which he’s played at least 14 games, back Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor to hit paydirt over 9.5 times in 2025. Running behind a rock-solid offensive line, the run game is set to be the focal point of the Colts offence. With an abundance of touches in a backfield with no competition at the position, expect Taylor to be a near touchdown per game threat for the Colts, scoring you the win on this player prop wager, and helping keep his team’s head above water.
Potential Breakout Player: Filling a glaring hole in the Colts offence after several seasons of mediocre tight end play, the Colts are hoping to have found their tight end of the future in Penn State’s Tyler Warren. A physically imposing player, Warren is a terrific two-way tight end. Able to use his size well in blocking scenarios, but still possesses great hands and speed as a receiver, Warren has the makings of a future Pro Bowl talent. In 2024, Warren led the Big Ten in receptions with 104, showcasing his sure-handedness and ability to be an every-down player. Look for Warren to have a big rookie season with the Colts as he establishes his role on the squad early on this year.
Betting Projection: While the Colts do roster several players with legitimate top-end talent, there are simply too many question marks and concerns to trust this year’s team. While their offence is solid and could be a fantastic point producer, a quarterback room with Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson isn’t going to translate into winning football. On the other side of the field, things are even worse. Sporting potentially the worst defence in the NFL, offences are going to chew the Colts up and spit them out. Aside from a few solid defensive linemen, the Colts defence is a bonafide practice squad. Fade the Colts to make the playoffs this season, as well as finish with under 7.5 wins on the regular season.

Division Odds: +300

2024 Record: 4-13
Key Additions: RG Patrick Mekari, DT Khalen Saunders, EDGE Emanuel Ogbah, WR Tim Patrick, C Robert Hainsey
Key Subtractions: WR Christian Kirk, TE Evan Engram, WR Josh Reynolds, S Daniel Thomas, S Andre Cisco
Most Important Game on the Schedule: An early test that will give NFL fans a better understanding as to which version of the Jaguars we’ll see this season, in Week 2 the Jags will take on the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. While the Bengals aren’t the Super Bowl contender they once were, they’re still a tough matchup for any squad thanks to their terrific offence. Fancying themselves as something of a strong offensive team as well, the Jaguars will need to prove that they have the firepower and explosive ability to go toe-to-toe with some of the most high-powered offences in the NFL. Whether it turns into a competitive clash, or the game results in a one-sided blowout, this will be a good indication as to how this season will play out.
Prop to Watch: Having already accomplished the feat once, back Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence to lead the NFL in interceptions thrown. After losing two of his most dependable targets in Evan Engram and Christian Kirk this offseason, the options to throw to are slim pickings for Lawrence. Additionally, the Jags offensive line couldn’t make a block if their lives depended on it, meaning their QB is likely going to be covered head to toe in turf burn by season’s end. With these difficulties set to be ongoing throughout the year, expect Lawrence to try and force the ball more often than not, resulting in errant passes that are picked off by the defence.
Potential Breakout Player: Coming off a terrific second season in the NFL, look for running back Tank Bigsby to waste no time in replacing Travis Etienne Jr. as the leading rusher on the Jaguars in 2025. With Etienne becoming an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, it’s safe to assume the Jaguars aren’t desperate to bring him back by any means. After posting an abysmal 558 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games played in 2025, being Trevor Lawrence’s college buddy can only take you so far for Etienne. After thoroughly outproducing Etienne Jr. in 2024, look for Bigsby to continue improving this season, crushing his previous career bests, and setting himself up to become the running back of the future for the Jaguars.
Betting Projection: Take everything I said about the Colts and double it. That’s my feelings toward the Jaguars. One of the biggest frauds in the NFL, somehow, fans and analysts alike convince themselves that things will be different for the Jaguars this year, but I’m here to tell you it’s not. Aside from a miracle comeback in the AFC Wild Card against the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 (shoutout to Brandon Staley), the Jaguars have done nothing but disappoint since then. With that, I firmly believe the fish rots from the head, and their “leader” in Trevor Lawrence is a mediocre at best quarterback at the NFL level. For someone who was regarded as one of the best QB prospects we’ve ever seen, all he has to show for it is a 22-38 record with a 69:46 TD/INT ratio. Let’s stop kidding ourselves, fade the Jags at any chance you get this season as they’re sure to once again be among the worst teams in the NFL in 2025.

Most Important Game on the Schedule: A game that will provide our first glimpse into what should be the new-look Titans’ first crack at a competitive game, Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders is going to be critical to the Titans season. With five games under his belt, the nerves should be gone for 2025 first overall pick Cam Ward as he looks to cement himself as a franchise player for the Titans. With early meetings against the Broncos, Rams, Colts, and Cardinals, starting off their campaign, this clash with the Raiders will provide a chance to see more freedom from Ward as well as the rest of the young Titans core against a team that is closer to their skill level. A win here could help solidify that they’re progressing at an appropriate rate, while a loss may open the conversation to how else they can improve the team.
Prop to Watch: After leading the FBS in passing touchdowns in his final season of college ball with 39, look for his scoring ability to translate into the pros as Cam Ward records over 19.5 passing touchdowns. While his offence may not be the prettiest, it is still serviceable for Ward to work with. With reliable wideouts such as Tyler Lockett and Calvin Ridley running routes, Ward should have no problem linking up with them in the end zone. With a plus money line set for him to reach 20 passing touchdowns, this is a great way to score a juicy win while watching one of the most exciting young players in the game develop.
Potential Breakout Player: Ready to make a name for himself as the next big name to come out of the Great White North, expect to see a terrific rookie season from Canadian wide receiver Elic Ayomanor. Proudly repping Alberta, Ayomanor was a standout talent at Stanford, using his stellar size and strength to best opposing defences in the end zone. Set to grow and develop alongside Cam Ward, Ayomanor has the chance to breakout as his favourite receiver, cementing his role on the Titans, and creating a new dynamic duo in the AFC South.
Betting Projection: Bettors should look to fade the Titans in 2025, as they are still a ways away from being a winning football team. With an average level of talent across both sides of the ball, as well as no NFL tape having been recorded yet on key members of their team, there are too many uncertainties around them to believe that they’ll be anywhere close to playoff contention. Expect another low-win season for the Titans as they struggle to produce, but continue to develop their young core in hopes of becoming a playoff threat in the near future.
