Inter have continued to dominate Serie A early in 2022 but there is plenty of football still to be played. Let’s have a look at the betting predictions.
Who do Bettors Favour?
Checking out the best sportsbook sites we can see that bookmakers are still keen on Internazionale who can only be backed at very short prices to defend their title. The most likely contenders are Milan and Napoli, both available at around 7.00 while sportsbooks and punters appear to be writing off the chances of Juventus and Atalanta, with both rated in double figures.
Serie A Winners | ![]() | ![]() |
---|---|---|
Internazionale | 1.44 | 1.44 |
Milan | 5.50 | 5.81 |
Napoli | 7.50 | 6.90 |
Juventus | 15.00 | 13.10 |
Atalanta | 29.00 | 32.94 |
Betting on the Serie A Winner
Simone Inzaghi’s outstanding efforts as Inter manager have swayed the naysayers, and he is still on course to lead Inter to a historic title defence. Despite losing key players, Inzaghi has his team playing the sort of free-flowing game that Antonio Conte’s side seldom did. One defeat in their last 15 games looks like championship-winning form and certainly, that’s how the sportsbooks see it.
Yet this doesn’t look like the best time to be banking on Inter. Although their form has been impeccable, they haven’t managed to pull away at the top of the table and so don’t have a lot of margin for error. Worryingly for Inter fans, city rivals Milan are not faltering, indeed Milan’s recent victory in their derby encounter could yet prove to be a crucial result.
Napoli, who had dropped away alarmingly in Victor Osimhen’s absence, are back on track and not far behind and although they missed the chance to close the gap when they drew with Inter on Saturday, that performance showed they are still serious challenges. You could potentially pick both Napoli and Milan and be sure of value at this point but I am siding with Napoli, whose fluent brand of football can be irresistible.
Betting on the Serie A Top Four
Last month we advised betting on Juventus to get a top-four finish and they’ve moved smoothly into that position since then, just two points ahead of Atalanta. Unfortunately, that means they no longer represent a good pick in the Top Four betting markets as their odds have shrunk significantly.
The same applies to Atalanta, who certainly look too short given their sudden loss of form. They’ve won one of their last six and given the form of the current top four, I can’t see how Atalanta will be able to break back into that area of the table.
That suggests it may be worth looking at either Lazio or Roma in this market. Both Rome teams are a couple of wins back from fourth in the table and it isn’t impossible that one of them might be able to crack the Top Four. Of the two, Lazio seem the more likely as Roma’s unpredictability makes them an unreliable pick, but even Lazio, who have found some form of late, will be relying on two of the teams above them collapsing if they are to sneak into the Champions League places.
Serie A Relegation Betting
At the bottom of the table, Salernitana appear to be doomed, and even if you gave them back the point they were deducted for failing to fulfill their fixture with Udinese, they would have a huge amount of work on their hands to even come close to avoiding relegation.
Genoa continues to grind out battling draws but they’ve won only once all season and that has to change soon if they are to get out of trouble, while Venezia are struggling to gain any momentum. In addition to their poor form, Genoa and Venezia both face the problem that the teams immediately above the relegation zone: Cagliari and Sampdoria, have both claimed important wins recently and don’t look particularly vulnerable, so at this point, there’s little juice in the relegation market.
Which player will win the Golden Boot?
Dusan Vlahovic has made a high-profile switch from Fiorentina to Juventus and in the long term, you would expect that to mean more goalscoring opportunities. He has already found the net for his new team, who are in good form, so we can’t expect him to falter.
The duel between Vlahovic and multiple Golden Boot winner Ciro Immobile could prove to be fascinating through the closing weeks of the season, but Vlahovic should now have the upper hand given that he is playing for a better team.
Though we had some hopes that Lautaro Martinez might be able to sneak into the reckoning, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen and the front two in the Serie A Top Scorer rankings are pulling well clear, so unless you have a particularly strong opinion about Vlahovic or Immobile, there doesn’t appear to be much value left in this market, with both available at short odds.
