Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Los Angeles Rams — The Early Sunday Game

Since the 34-24 Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles RamsTom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had revenge on their minds. They get their chance on Sunday afternoon versus the Rams at home this time. That first meeting featured Matthew Stafford throwing for 343 yards and four touchdowns. More importantly, Stafford made no mistakes. Los Angeles built a big lead and then held off Brady’s 432 passing yard effort as the Rams held on.

This time things are different. There is a spot for the NFC Conference Championship on the line. Stafford just won his first career postseason game last week. Brady has won 35 and lost just 11. It is safe to say that the quarterback approaching his mid 40’s has a little more experience. After the New Orleans debacle at home, Brady and the Buccaneers won four straight games and beat the Eagles with ease 31-15 last Sunday.

Now, the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night punched Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals square in the mouth and Arizona never recovered. The Cardinals were never in that game and fell behind 21-0 at the half. The first half was punctuated by an ill-advised throw out of the end zone by Murray that resulted in a pick-six. This is something that will not happen to Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. The Rams are not the New Orleans Saints.

The game is going to come down to execution. Once Los Angeles jumped ahead by two scores, the game was over. Could Tampa Bay do the same at home? It’s possible. However, the spread is around 2 to 3 points which make for a close moneyline. The Buccaneers are a very slight favourite. Brady expects to be the difference in this game, especially in the fourth quarter. Nerves may get to Stafford and the Rams late. They have before. Take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the moneyline over the Los Angeles Rams Sunday.

Buffalo Bills over Kansas City Chiefs

So, what did the Buffalo Bills learn last year from their defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs? We will find out on Sunday evening. This game is a matchup of two teams that can light up the scoreboard while playing great defence. Or it could end up a muddled mess somewhere in the middle. Last year, Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes used a 21 point second quarter to take the lead and win the AFC Championship 38-24.

Buffalo got off to a great start in that game with a dominant first quarter and led 9-0. After that, the game fell apart and fell away from Josh Allen. Mahomes was playing with a banged-up foot last year. This year, his confidence is improving but still a little shaken from a mid-season slump. Allen guided the third-best offence in football and was buoyed by one of the top defences in the entire NFL (1st in points allowed).

The Bills are a year wiser and will be playing in decent weather with temperatures in the 30’s. It will not be as warm as Tampa Bay but much better than last week’s Arctic chill in Buffalo. That should allow the offences to open up and this expects to be a high-octane game. The Bills behind Knox, Diggs and Allen beat Kansas City in Kansas City 38-20. That could pay dividends to come Sunday evening.

That does mean it will be easy. Patrick Mahomes can be a magician out there. The short passing game is more dangerous than the Chiefs’ running game. After that, it boils down to can Buffalo contain Mahomes enough and force him into mistakes? They cannot miss the opportunity like in last year’s game. Josh Allen does it again. Our pick is to take the Buffalo Bills to upset the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. It will be a Buffalo and Brady Sunday.
