The NHL Draft for the upcoming 2022/23 regular season takes place at the end of April, and here we are going to be looking at the betting for the top markets, focusing on the first overall pick and first drafted quarterback.
Before we get into the upcoming draft, let’s take a quick look at the betting to win the 2022/23 Super Bowl.
This year’s winners, the LA Rams, are joint fourth favourites at 11.00. This is in part down to the fact that the draft is yet to happen and rosters haven’t been finalized.

Tampa Bay | 7.40 |

San Francisco 49ers | 14.00 |
LA Chargers | 14.00 |
Cincinnati Bengals | 17.00 |
Cleveland Browns | 19.00 |
It’s also down to the fact that Tom Brady reversed his decision to retire, and as a result, Tampa Bay is the betting favourite at 7.40 with Sports Interaction.
Elsewhere in the latest Super Bowl betting odds, Buffalo Bills are second favourites at 7.60, with Kansas City next at 10.00. Last season’s beaten finalists, the Cincinnati Bengals, are 17.00.
What is the NFL Draft?
The NFL Draft is an annual event that allows teams to improve their rosters with new talent. This year’s event is from Thursday, April 28th, to Saturday, April 30th. The team with the worst record the previous season (2021/22 in this case) gets the first pick.
- 2022/23 Season NFL Draft
- April 28th, 2022 – April 30th, 2022
- Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada
The idea is that allowing the worst performing team to go first, allows them to claim the players they need most, and this in turn levels up the playing field more in the upcoming season, and makes the NFL a more appealing overall product.
As the worst performing team in the 2021/22 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars will get the first pick. The full order in which teams are ranked for the first round of picks is:-
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Detroit Lions
- Houston Texans
- New York Jets
- New York Giants
- Carolina Panthers
- New York Jets (via Bears)
- Atlanta Falcons
- Seattle Seahawks
- New York Jets (via Seahawks)
- Washington Commanders
- Minnesota Vikings
- Houston Texans (via Browns)
- Baltimore Ravens
- Philadelphia Eagles (via Dolphins)
- Philadelphia Eagles (via Colts)
- Los Angeles Chargers
- New Orleans Saints
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- New England Patriots
- Green Bay Packers
- Arizona Cardinals
- Dallas Cowboys
- Buffalo Bills
- Tennessee Titans
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Green Bay Packers
- Miami Dolphins (via 49ers)
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Detroit Lions (via Rams)
Betting on the NFL Draft
In sports, you can now bet on almost everything. And bizarrely, in sports like Indian Premier League cricket, you can have bets on the IPL Auction, and the event is almost as popular to bet on, as the sport itself.
It’s the same in American Football, and now betting on the NFL Draft has become a huge event in the NFL calendar and one that Gridiron fans look forward to with great anticipation.
As a result, Sportsbooks lay odds on the event, and with this year’s draft fast approaching, more and more betting markets will go live. The most popular bet on the NFL Draft is who will be the First Overall Pick. At the moment in the latest NFL Draft odds, that player is expected to be Aiden Hutchinson.
Hutchinson, a defensive end who has played for the Michigan Wolverines since 2018 is just 1.40 to be the First Overall Pick with Sports Interaction.
First Overall Pick Betting
- Aiden Hutchinson @ 1.40
- Travon Walker @ 3.98
- Evan Neal @ 11.00
- Ikem Ekwonu @ 12.00
- Kayvon Thibodeaux @ 22.00
- Malik Willis @ 36.00
- Kenny Pickett @ 76.00
The Jaguars have the opening pick for the second successive season. They were rumoured to originally be interested in drafting Evan Neal, as it was believed they needed to cover the – at the time – likely departure of Cam Robinson.
With Robinson’s situation changing, the Jaguars have now turned their attention to Hutchinson. Signing the defensive end makes more sense for a team that only managed 26 sacks last season.
Odds of 1.40 don’t sound too appealing, but as things stand, it would represent a huge shock if Jacksonville doesn’t draft Hutchinson.

First Drafted Quarterback Betting
Malik Willis is 36.00 to be the First Overall Pick of the NFL Draft, but when it comes to First Drafted Quarterback Betting, Willis is just 1.51.
This market looks set to be a two-way battle between Willis of the Liberty Flames, and Kenny Pickett of the Pittsburgh Panthers.
- Malik Willis @ 1.51
- Kenny Pickett @ 2.75
- Matt Corral @ 15.00
- Sam Howell @ 19.00
It’s an intriguing market, with Pickett himself predicting he will be the first QB selected. In the latest Team To Draft Betting markets, the Carolina Panthers are favourites to land Pickett at 2.45, but they are also favourites to land Willis at 3.45.
In the Second Drafted Pick market, Willis is the third favourite at 5.25, behind Travon Walker at 2.75, and Aiden Hutchinson at 3.50.
It’s not easy working through the ifs, buts, and maybes, to find the greatest value picks, but I’m going to go for Malik Willis to be the Second Drafted Pick as I think it represents better value all round.
