Dallas Mavericks (1.57) vs New Orleans Pelicans (2.30)
Dallas are starting to show themselves to be playoff material as they continue to play great games this campaign. They shocked many on Sunday night, when they snapped the Lakers 10-game win streak, taking the game 114-100.
The Mavericks (13-6) success on the court has led them to 4th position in the heated Western Conference.
The Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, Rockets and Jazz are all playing excellent ball this year - It’s going to be a season to remember.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans (6-14) are struggling, they sit on a 5-game losing streak and are 27th in the NBA power rankings for the campaign so far.
But, the return and debut of the NBA first draft pick of 2019/20 Zion Williamson, could turn everything around for Alvin Gentry’s men.
Though we haven’t seen him play in the NBA yet, if you’ve seen him play you’ll know what’s coming.
Take the Mavs form and current roster to be too much for the Pelicans.
Parlay Pick: Dallas Mavericks to win & Mavericks over 118.5 total (3.63)
Having watching the Mavericks dominate the Lakers in the third quarter at the STAPLES Center on Sunday night, we wanted to give them an NBA free pick for the week.
Unfortunately for the Pelicans, it’s not just Zion Williamson they’re missing.
A few players will be sitting this one out in the physioroom, Kenrich Williams will be missing in offense and Derrick Favors is due to miss the game for personal reasons.
The Pelicans lost out in the fourth to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Though there were some bright points about the game; Jrue Holiday put up 26 and Lonzo Ball 14 and 7 assists.
The Pelicans will need a lot more of that against this Mavs side.
The issue for the Pelicans is finding a way around Luca Doncic and the seemingly ever-growing list of three-point shooters for him to assist from at will. Tim Hardaway Jr. is the player who’s been the best for this, averaging 18.2 ppg and 55.4% shooting.
Take Dallas to win and under 118.5 team's total.
Parlay Play: Dallas Mavericks to win & total over 223.0 (3.89)
The NBA betting odds do point to a Mavs win, but there is plenty to play for in this one. It’s not as if the Mavericks are unbeatable, we’ve seen them fall apart against the Clippers and Knicks this season.
We hate to go on about him, as it feels like we do this every time we make picks, but Luca Doncic is absolutely phenomenal.
We hate to say it, but what else do you call an average of 33.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game?
From the Dallas games we’ve seen this season, the key to success for the Pelicans will be controlling the Slovenian. The Lakers did it in the first half of their game, before letting him free in the third and dropping to a 20 point differential.
But stopping KP, Justin Jackson, Hardaway Jr., Delon Wright and Doncic? We think not.
The smart money says Dallas win & over 223.00 total.
