The 76ers continue to shine under Doc Rivers and lead things in the East, while The Jazz, Clippers and Lakers are the league leaders in the West. LeBron is playing out of his skin at the moment and staking his claim for MVP.
We kick things off this weekend with the Raptors against the Nets team full of stars. But the Raptors are looking to make it three wins from their last three and will give Harden and co a great game.
Our In-house basketball experts have assessed the games and checked the NBA odds at all the top-tier sportsbook providers available to Canadian sports fans. We’ll check out some of the best games from the weekend below.
Toronto Raptors (2.70) vs Brooklyn Nets (1.53)
While the vast majority of NBA betting sites have the Brooklyn Nets as favourites to win, going 7-3 in their last 10 games and sitting third in the Eastern Conference overall we can see an in-form Raptors team causing an upset.
Two hard-fought wins in the back-to-back series with the Orlando Magic showed Nick Nurse that his team is looking to make amends for a poor start to the campaign. The Raptors Fred VanVleet had an outrageous game against Orlando in Game 2, putting up a season-high of 54.
The Nets defeated a very strong Clippers side in their last game, with all three-star players turning up on the court. Durant and Irving put up 28 and 39, respectively, while Harden stole the show with 11r, 14a, and 23p. Will they manage to gel again against those in the North?
Take the Toronto Raptors to win.
Los Angeles Clippers (1.43) vs Boston Celtics (3.00)
The Clippers lost in their last game to a very strong Brooklyn Nets side, but will still have the NBA Finals very much in their sights as they sit second in the NBA and have won 8 of their last 10 games.
Tyronn Lue has done an excellent job of getting his players going and seems to have found a way of getting through to his star players. The likes of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are playing some of the best balls we’ve seen in a while. With NBA vets Ibaka and Jackson supporting the two stars, the Clippers are a real force.
Over in Boston, it’s been quite different. The Celtics are struggling to make an impact on the season, only managing to produce 11 wins from 20 games so far. The emergence of the Nets and a strong Pacers side has certainly knocked them down a bit, with players not performing as they did last season.
Pick the Los Angeles Clippers to win.
Miami Heat (1.37) vs Washington Wizards (3.23)
It’s a bottom of the table clash for our last pick of the weekend. The Wizards sit just below the Heat, occupying the 13th and 14th positions in the Eastern Conference. Miami looks to snap a 2-game losing streak while the Wizards look to extend their 1-game winning run.
Bradley Beal played an excellent game in the win over the Heat in the first game of this head-to-head series, putting up 8r, 4a, 32p to clinch a deserved victory 100-103. But can they repeat this feat?
Last season’s NBA finalists will know they’re not playing at their best, but there is still plenty of time to turn this season around. Miami just needs to get a string of wins together. Recent games against the Nets, Nuggets, and Clippers have caused them a lot of trouble.
Expect a win for the Miami Heat.
