NBA Weekly Free Picks & Predictions: Jan 13 - Jan 16

We are now at the half-way point of the regular season and as it stands, the Milwaukee Bucks are the best performing team during that period - accumulating 35 wins and just 6 losses.

Things are tight at the top of the Western Conference, with just three wins separating the second and sixth place. The top in the East will battle it out on Thursday, as the Celtics travel to the Forum to play the Bucks.

Who will tally up the wins this week?

Houston Rockets (1.51) vs Memphis Grizzlies (2.63)

The Rockets, who are 26-12 for the season, enter this one having beaten the Timberwolves in their last 139-10, with Westbrook (30) and Harden (32) picking up the majority of the points.

James Harden continues to lead the NBA top-scorer tables, putting up an average of 37.7 points per game. He’s also ninth in the league in assists, setting up an average of 7.5 assists per game.

Harden and the Rockets will be up against the most-improved team in the league over the past week. The Memphis Grizzlies, who are 18-22 outright, have won 7 in their last ten games, which is the same record as the Rockets.

The young point guard Jaren Jackson continues to lead the scoring tables for Memphis. He’s managing an average of 18.1 points per game and is fifth in the league in 3-point FG percentage on .418%.

The Grizzlies have marched their way up to sixteenth in the NBA power rankings, with wins over the Clippers, Spurs and Warriors.

Take the Houston Rockets to win here.

Dallas Mavericks (1.60) @ Sacramento Kings (2.44)

Though the betting odds are yet to be released, based on recent form and what we’ve seen throughout the season it’s clear that the NBA betting odds will be in favour of the Mavericks.

The Mavericks managed to beat the 76ers in their last game, taking the game 109-91. Although Philadelphia were without Joel Embiid, who has been on top-form so far this campaign.

The Mavericks are 24-15 for the season overall. They are 5-5 in their last ten. With starman Luka Doncic back on the court, the Mavs have looked a lot more confident, and more importantly, so is Luka.

It was certainly a team effort against the 76ers. Doncic only managed 19 points, as did Finney-Smith, while Hardaway Jnr., Powell and Maxi Kleber got most of the rest. Maverick’s Maxi Kleber hit 3 threes, playing an important role in the win.

The Kings are 15-24 for the season outright. They have won just 3 games in the last seven and are showing little sign of turning things on in the second half of the NBA season. Though they have won 2 in their last three, and the loss came against the Bucks.

Expect the Mavericks to win.

Boston Celtics @ Milwaukee Bucks

We have the second versus first place in the Eastern Conference, as we travel to the Fiserv Forum where the Milwaukee Bucks host the Boston Celtics.

The Bucks beat Portland 122-101 in their last to go 35-6 for the season. Eric Bledsoe picked up right where he left off for the Kings, picking up 29 points against the Trail Blazers, while Giannis (32) and Middleton (30) also put up the points.

Milwaukee has stumbled against lesser teams of late, the San Antonio Spurs as well as the 76ers. Although the Bucks have looked solid in the East, they certainly aren’t unbeatable.

The Celtics also lost out to the Spurs over the weekend. They also lost out to the 76ers, but have since bounced back against the Pelicans taking the game 140-105. Jayson Tatum racked up the points in that game, with a season-high 41.

We wanted to ensure this game made its way into our weekly NBA free picks. Given their league position and the recent form of both teams, we expect this to be an epic game.

Take the Bucks to win.
