NHL Anytime Goal-Scorer Parlay Picks For March 19

Ottawa Senators right wing Drake Batherson (19) warms up before a game against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center.

Our three favourite anytime goal-scorer bets for Tuesday price out at +4481 as a parlay for bettors looking to take a chance on a lottery ticket on the best NHL betting sites. The picks also appear to hold standalone value as straight bets, something worth noting given that we have had lots of success hitting two of our three legs on these bets this season.

Anytime goal-scorer bets are among the most exciting bets available in any sport. The rush of hitting a long shot goal-scorer is hard to match, but even the NHL’s top scorers are less than 50% likely to score on average, and it is a volatile market subject to randomness, so as always, we do recommend staying within your means. Regardless of the score, any uncashed goal-scorer bet is still live to win, while hitting this type of wager early in any matchup is also extremely satisfying.

Drake Batherson +240

Batherson suffered through a 10-game goalless drought from January 20th to February 28th, but was generating a lot of quality chances in that span playing on a dominant even strength line alongside Tim Stutzle and Claude Giroux, as well as the Ottawa Senators’ strong top power-play unit.

The dam seemingly burst when he tallied two goals on February 28th, and he’s now scored eight goals over the last nine games. His recent chance creation numbers have been excellent, and on a nightly basis he’s looked quite threatening, including in Wednesday’s frustrating loss when the Senators were stymied by an otherworldly performance from Logan Thompson.

Throughout his last 10 games, Batherson has generated 3.90 individual expected goals and averaged 3.0 shots per game. The types of chances he’s gotten playing alongside two high-quality playmakers have been appealing, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t record four more goals this year to hit the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his career.

Filip Forsberg +175

With a regulation win over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday, the Nashville Predators would pull even with the Seattle Kraken in the race for the final Western Conference playoff spot. Forsberg’s dominant second half of the season has been a key reason for their surprising push for a playoff spot, as the ultra-talented winger has put up 13 goals and 23 points over the last 21 games.

Over the last 10 games, Forsberg has generated 4.48 individual expected goals and averaged 8.2 shot attempts per game. He’s a lethal shooter with a 13.8% throughout the last five seasons and has been on top of his game offensively of late.

The Seattle Kraken have allowed 3.33 goals against per game over their last 15 matchups, and hold a 45.68% expected goal share in that span. The Predators’ second line of Forsberg, Michael Wood, and Jonathan Marchessault has been effective of late, and they should be able to generate some quality chances in Thursday’s matchup.

Vasily Podkolzin +390

There’s been a ton to like about Podkolzin’s game lately. He’s shown some strong offensive upside, is accountable defensively, and continues to fly under the radar as a skater who will fight for his teammates when necessary.

With Leon Draisaitl sidelined, head coach Kris Knoblauch has been forced to stray away from the dominant top line of Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Zach Hyman. Podkolzin has been a benefactor of the realignment, as he’s now playing alongside McDavid on the top line, and also inherited Draisaitl’s role on the power play.

Though obviously Podkolzin does not have the ability to slam home one-timers from sharp angles the same way that Draisaitl does, working in that spot on what should still be an elite power play greatly boosts his chances of scoring a goal in any matchup.

Podkolzin has registered four goals over the last 10 games, and for much of that span his role on the team was much less appealing as it is currently. He was drafted 10th overall based on the expectation he could produce at the NHL level, and though he’s developed into more more of a steady role player, he’s not without some legitimate offensive skill.

Considering his current roles and recent form, a price of +390 for Podkolzin to score looks quite appealing entering Thursday’s matchup against a shorthanded Florida Panthers side that has struggled defensively of late and continues to receive below average play in goal.
