After finishing pool play with a 3-1 record, Venezuela ousted a heavily-favoured Japan team in the quarterfinals. They staged an epic comeback to reverse a 5-2 deficit in that clash with the defending WBC champions, and then rallied for another come-from-behind victory against Italy in the semifinals on Monday night.

Venezuela has a ton of momentum heading into this contest, and with a plethora of MLB talent on the roster, it should give USA everything it can handle in Tuesday’s final. In fact, throwing a sprinkle on Venezuela to win this game outright at +220 odds is also a viable option.

Betting on USA

After putting 35 runs up on the board after four pool games, USA’s offence has fallen back to reality facing stiffer competition in the knockout rounds. The Americans edged Canada 5-3 in the quarterfinals before squeaking out a 2-1 win over the Dominican Republic in the semis.

USA slashed .293/.430/.514 through pool play (35 runs, 41 hits in 4 games), leading in total bases and OBP while ranking 4th in OPS (.944).

Roman Anthony has been a standout performer, swatting two home runs with a .318/.423/.591 slash line through six WBC games, making him a sneaky play to win tournament MVP at +600 odds.

Betting on Venezuela

Venezuela offers live underdog value at +220 against USA in the 2026 WBC final, backed by a flawless knockout run, star power, and USA vulnerabilities—making the upset a smart play.

Led by MLB superstar Ronald Acuna Jr., former MLB batting champion Luis Arraez, and slugging third baseman Eugenio Suarez, Venezuela has the talent level to compete with a star-studded USA roster, not to mention of a ton of momentum after dispatching Japan and Italy in the knockout rounds.

Pitching fatigue is a slight concern entering Tuesday’s contest on a short turnaround after Monday’s semifinal win, but Venezuela should be able to mix and match effectively with its potent stable of relievers to piece together nine innings of quality pitching.

Probable starting pitchers

USA: RHP Nolan McLean

McLean will be making his second WBC start after a mediocre outing against Italy on March 10. The New York Mets rookie coughed up three earned runs and two homers while walking two. It’ll be all hands on deck from a pitching perspective, so expect McLean to have a very short leash in this outing.

Venezuela: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez

Rodriguez made an incredibly difficult start against a stacked Dominican Republic roster last time he took the hill for his country, giving up three earned runs on three hits over 2 2/3 innings. Like McLean, Rodriguez will also be subject to a potential early hook as both teams will not hesitate to call on bullpen help with so much on the line.

Weather

Weather won’t impact the WBC final as it’s being played at LoanDepot Park in Miami. Forecasts are calling for rain on Tuesday night, so it’s very unlikely the retractable roof will be open.
