Paul vs. Chavez Jr. Predictions

Entering into his 12th pro fight as a sweltering favourite, Jake Paul is primed to add yet another name to his blossoming resume. While Chavez Jr. has shared the ring with several phenomenal talents over his lengthy career, such as Canelo Alvarez and Andy Lee, much like the majority of Paul’s previous opponents, he’s well past his prime.

Having spent two of his last three fights against former UFC fighters (something Paul is familiar with) in Uriah Hall and Anderson Silva, it’s clear that the former champion is simply maximizing the tail end of his fighting days before they come to an end.

Along with the notable three-inch reach advantage in favour of Paul, it’s also important to note that he’s 11 years younger than his opponent. With fresher legs and far less damage absorbed over his career, in contrast to JC Jr., Paul should have a legitimate physical advantage throughout this 10-round clash.

Additionally, like most of his fights, Paul is competing within his wheelhouse, while his opponent is being forced into uncomfortable waters. Notably, this bout is being contested at Cruiserweight (200-lb limit), which is 40 pounds heavier than the middleweight limit that Chavez Jr. spent his prime competing in.

Even with these physical advantages, don’t expect to see this fight come to a close before the final bell. With Chavez Jr. having not won by knockout since 2020 (retirement in R4), and Paul somehow unable to finish the husk of Mike Tyson in his last fight, both fighters are no longer looked at as a dangerous finishers, making a bet on the scrap to go the distance a smart one.

While I’m sure we’d all love to see someone knock his lights out finally, don’t expect to see it come from this bout. Look for Paul to comfortably cruise his way to a decision win over Chavez Jr., extending his winning streak to five in a row.
