The climax of the 2025 PGA Tour season is finally here with the playing of the Tour Championship this week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
The top 30 golfers in the FedEx Cup points standings have qualified for the exclusive event, which is the third and final leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This week’s purse is a lucrative $40 million, with the winner taking home a cool $10 million. A last-place finish will still net $355,000 USD.
Unlike in previous seasons, this year’s event will feature the elimination of starting strokes based on the FedEx Cup standings and will be played as a regular 72-hole stroke-play tournament, with all players beginning at even par.
Scottie Scheffler, who won last week’s BMW Championship and sits first in the standings with 7,456 points, is the runaway outright favourite to win the Tour Championship with ridiculously short odds between +150 and +200 depending on the online sportsbook. It’ll be difficult to back Scheffler, who has dominated on the PGA tour this season, at such short odds, so let’s take a look at some other players to target in the field with better value.
Canadians in the field
- Corey Conners (+4000): Conners is one of two Canadians in the field this week and is 19th in the FedEx Cup standings. He’s in poor form right now, finishing 39th at the BMW Championship and T50 in the first leg of the Playoffs at the St. Jude Championship. Conners is winless this season, but he does boast six top-10 finishes, with his best result a solo third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational back in March.
- Nick Taylor (+9000): Taylor sits at No. 25 in the FedEx Cup standings and, like Conners, is struggling right now. He finished T33 last week at the BMW Championship and T44 the week prior at the St. Jude. He also missed the cut at the British Open, putting a sour note on an otherwise successful season, which included a win at the Sony Open in Hawaii back in January.

Three golfers to back
- Viktor Hovland (+2200): Hovland is a great sleeper pick this week. He’s a former winner at East Lake (2023) and also boasts a fifth-place finish and a 12th-place finish at this course on his resume. Hovland also has some momentum after a strong seventh-place finish at the BMW Championship last week. The Norwegian ranks second on Tour in approach to green strokes gained and 19th in birdie average.
- Sam Burns (+2500): Burns is coming off a T4 result at the BMW Championship, and he’s had some success at East Lake, posting a 12th-place finish last year and an eighth-place result in 2023. He’s a tremendous putter, ranking first in putting strokes gained, seventh in putting average, and ninth in putts per round. He ranks around the middle of the pack in most other statistical categories, boasting the all-around game to pull off an upset this week.
- Harry Hall (+5000): Bettors looking for a deep sleeper in the field should look no further than Hall, who has played some incredibly consistent golf over the last few months, finishing no worse than T28 over his past 11 events, including three top-10 results. He finished sixth last week at the BMW Championship to help us cash one of our recommended bets, and at 50-1 odds, he’s an awesome play this week in the season finale. The Englishman ranks second on Tour in total strokes gained, and he’s one of the best players with the putter, ranking first in putting average, first in putts per round, and second in one-putt percentage.
