Best bet-Artemi Panarin/Mika Zibanejad each to record a point: +100
Panarin/Zibanejad points parlay
As Panarin and Zibanejad remained together on the top line alongside Alexis Lafreniere at Tuesday’s practice, this stack remains completely correlated, with the two also playing together on the New York Rangers’ top power-play unit. We hit on this bet last Thursday when the Rangers faced off against the Ottawa Senators at +105, and I’m surprised it’s still priced at even money after hitting in the following two games.
Not only has this bet hit in four straight games, but those matchups have come versus the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators and Dallas Stars, who are all better defensive teams than the Chicago Blackhawks are right now.
The Blackhawks wrapped up their road trip with a 7-1 loss in what was undoubtedly their worst performance of the season. While Sunday’s game was a new low for the Blackhawks, and they will certainly be sharper Wednesday after a pair of off days, their level of play has been quite poor for a meaningful sample.
Over the last 15 games, Chicago has allowed 31.2 shots against per 60 and 3.47 xGA/60. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill noted that the team’s data was more favourable than the public expected goals models this week, but even SportLogiq’s private model had them 28th in expected goal share as of Monday.
Looking at the actual results, Chicago has allowed 4.00 goals against per game over the last 10 matchups. Even with No. 1 goalie Spencer Knight set to start, this still looks like a good spot to target two of the NHL’s hottest skaters each recording a point.
Over the last 15 games, Panarin has recorded 22 points, while Zibanejad ranks second on the team with 16 in the same span. They have both recorded a point in 12 of those 15 games, and this prop is now more highly correlated with both playing on the same unit at even strength.
Best bet-Anton Lundell Over 0.5 Points: -120
Anton Lundell over 0.5 points
With Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk sidelined, Lundell has earned an elevated role for the Florida Panthers this season, and he’s chipped in some pretty steady production, with 22 points in 28 games after putting up 18 points in 23 games during a highly impressive playoff run last season.
Lundell has recorded at least one point in each of the last two games, which coincides with the return of linemate and countryman Eetu Luostarinen. Luostarinen and Lundell have shown strong chemistry dating back to last year’s playoff run and are joined at even strength by one of the game’s best wingers in Sam Reinhart.
In 67.3 minutes of even-strength play, Lundell, Luostarinen, and Reinhart have generated 3.21 xGF/60 this season. They are all highly intelligent players who combine to generate quality scoring chances off the cycle, and Reinhart obviously provides an elite finishing threat.
The Utah Mammoth have allowed 3.50 xGA/60 over the last 15 games and 2.80 goals against per game in that span. By no means are they a plus matchup, but Lundell has recorded a point in 60.1% of 51 games played dating back to the start of last year’s playoffs, and in his current role on a top line that has looked great together, that level of production seems highly sustainable.
