An anytime goal-scorer bet is one of the most popular and straightforward player prop wagers in NHL betting. It allows you to bet on a specific player to score a goal at any point during the game, whether it’s the first goal, last goal, or any goal in between. This bet type offers an exciting way to stay engaged with the game, as your selected player can score at any moment to cash your bet.
Let’s take a look at three skaters to parlay to score a goal in the NHL on Tuesday night.
Adrian Kempe +190 to score
Adrian Kempe to score vs. Canadiens
Dating back to the start of the 2021-22 regular season, Kempe ranks 20th among all NHL skaters in goals scored, and holds a 14.1 shooting percentage in that span. He’s scored in 37.5% of games this season which already implies a price of +190 is a solid bet, and he’s done so while shooting at a slightly lesser rate than usual.
The Montreal Canadiens have shown strong improvement defensively this season, but it would still be a stretch to suggest that they are a tougher-than-average matchup for Kempe to score, which is what this price is implying. Over the last 10 games, the Canadiens have allowed 3.44 xGA/60, hold a 47.34% expected goal share, and have allowed 3.30 goals against per game where it counts.
While Kempe has recorded just one goal over the last five games, he has had plenty of quality scoring chances in that span. In his last five games, Kempe has had 17 shots on goal and 2.49 expected goals. Given that he has proven to be an above-average finisher, those are highly encouraging numbers.
Mikko Rantanen +160 to score
Mikko Rantanen to score vs. Senators
Rantanen’s excellent start to the year seems to be flying under the radar because he’s mainly just performing at a level that has come to be expected.
Rantanen has recorded eight goals and 21 points in 16 games played while playing on a Stars team that has also been just good enough to not be too much of a story early on. He has recorded four goals over the last five games and has generated 19 shots on goal in that span. He’s got a great role on the Stars’ top line playing alongside Wyatt Johnston and Sam Steel, a unit that holds a 66.7% expected goal share in 56.1 minutes together at even strength.
Rantanen is also in a good spot working the top of the right circle on the Stars’ top power-play unit, and as expected, the unit has been highly effective so far this season, succeeding on 32.8% of opportunities.
The Ottawa Senators have allowed 3.63 goals against per game this season, which is the third-highest mark in the NHL. They have defended well at even strength, especially relative to their GAA, but Linus Ullmark has struggled in goal, while the penalty kill has been awful.
Kirill Marchenko +200 to score
Kirill Marchenko to score vs. Kraken
Marchenko is in his true prime at age 25, and early on this season he looks poised to build on last season’s output of 31 goals and 74 points in 79 games. He has already recorded eight goals and 17 points in 15 games this season, and the Blue Jackets generally own the majority of the play when he’s out there, and he’s proven to have the shooting talent to capitalize on scoring opportunities at a high rate.
Head coach Dean Evason shook up his top six last night versus the Edmonton Oilers, moving Adam Fantilli into Sean Monahan’s role alongside Marchenko and Dmitri Voronkov on the top line. It seems safe to assume that trio will remain together in tonight’s matchup versus the Seattle Kraken, as they held a 76.9% expected goal share versus the Edmonton Oilers on Monday, while Fantilli and Marchenko linked up for an important goal at even strength early in the third period.
While Monahan, Marchenko, and Voronkov have formed a highly dominant unit over the last two years, Fantilli, Marchenko, and Voronkov have been comparably excellent. In 370.7 minutes together last season, Marchenko, Fantilli, and Voronkov scored 3.4 goals per 60 and outscored opponents 21 to 8.
Over the last two games, Marchenko has poured 20 attempts on goal and generated 1.35 expected goals. Considering his current role and the Kraken’s average defensive play, he should be able to generate some more quality looks once again tonight, and I like the chances that he is able to break through with his ninth of the year.
