The Minnesota Timberwolves are an NBA expansion team founded in 1989. Like most expansion teams, they struggled early but acquired one of the greatest players in Kevin Garnett and made eight consecutive NBA playoff appearances. However, since the loss of Garnett, the franchise has again floundered and not sniffed the playoffs. Their long-suffering fans keep hoping for the day the franchise finally ascends to the ranks of the elite but they, along with prospecting gamblers, may have to keep waiting a bit longer.
Minnesota Timberwolves’ Standings
Here is a look on how the Wolves stack up in the NBA. The standings are divided by conference and division. “GB” stands for how many games behind first-place a team is.
Bet On Minnesota Timberwolves’ Games
You can bet the Wolves in a variety of ways but most likely you will have to be familiar with the money line. This is where you bet for a team to win straight up. You will notice two types of numbers: a minus number (favourite) and plus number (underdog). Minus indicates how much you need to bet to win $100 i.e. -150 means you bet $150 to win $100. Plus indicates how much you win when you bet $100 i.e. +125 means you win $125 on a $100 bet.
Toothless Wolves: out of the NBA’s newest expansion teams since the late eighties, the Wolves are the worst in terms of their accumulative record. But the Wolves can only go upwards especially with their collection of rising young talent from the last few NBA drafts. The lowly Wolves may soon have their bite back.
The Big Ticket: Garnett was the one-and-only superstar for the Wolves. He holds the majority of the franchise’s records and awards including the MVP. He also helped captain the Wolves to their best franchise record with 58 wins in the 2003-2004 season, which was also the only time the franchise advanced past the first round. With their new roster of young talent, the Wolves may soon have another player in the same status as the future Hall of Famer.
Predicting future contenders: before the NBA regular season begins, you can make a prop bet on a variety of “futures” like which team wins the division. The Timberwolves have only one division title and over a decade of futility makes them a big underdog every season. But the Wolves have been stockpiling young talent as of late and could have an outside chance to win the division crown and the odds could make for a very lucrative bet.
