This weekend sees the first golfing major of the 2022 calendar, so with the top names assembled and ready to go in Georgia, here is our 2022 US Masters betting picks.
The US Masters is arguably the most prestigious tournament on the golf calendar. Indeed, it’s one of the most iconic sporting events, never mind just in golfing circles. To be able to call yourself a Master Champion carries credence. And it’s something all golfers want on their Resume!
Nearly everything about the Masters is graceful and historical. From the spectacular views driving to the Augusta venue along Magnolia Drive, to the Butler’s Cabin where the iconic Green Jacket is presented to the winner; there is just splendor and heritage everywhere.
The defending champion is Hideki Matsuyama, himself a history maker. When Matsuyama was presented with the Green Jacket in 2021, he had just become the first Japanese professional golfer to win a golf major!
Matsuyama is far from the favorite to defend his title in the latest Odds to win the 2022 US Masters. Sports Interaction makes him 36.00 to win back-to-back Green Jackets. The betting favorite is Spain’s Jon Rahm, at 10.00.
Rahm is followed by Justin Thomas at 13.00, and then a whole plethora of players at 15.00. Full US Masters betting odds can be found below.

US Masters; All You Need To Know
Proceedings get underway on Thursday at 8 am ET. The prize fund is reported to be $11,500,000, the same as in 2021, although this is yet to be confirmed. The yardage for this year’s competition is 7510, a slight increase on last year’s 7475.
- Competition; 2022 US Masters
- Where; Augusta, Georgia, USA
- When; Thursday, April 7th, 2022 – Sunday, April 10th, 2022
- Tee Off Time; 8 am ET
- Prize Money; $11,500,000
- Par; 72
- Course Length; 7510 Yards
As we’ve already alluded to, the defending champion is Japan’s, Hideki Matsuyama. Matsuyama won by one shot, finishing on -10, one shot ahead of the runner-up, Will Zalatoris. A third-round 65 was the main inspiration behind the win. That saw the Japanese go into the fourth round with a 4 shot lead over the field. A gap that ultimately was too big to overturn.
Already this year Matsuyama has won the Sony Open in Hawaii, beating Russell Henley in a two-way playoff. So he is clearly in good enough form to give it a real go again this year!
Is Tiger Woods Competing at the 2022 US Masters?
Another outsider in the Golf betting odds is the five-times Master champion, Tiger Woods, with the legendary golfer at 46.00. At this moment in time, Woods is yet to confirm his participation. He has until first thing Thursday morning to make up his mind whether he feels ready to return.
The fact that Woods was able to make the journey along Magnolia Drive so soon after his horrific car crash is testimony to his powers of recovery. Whether even the great Tiger Woods could complete what would surely be the greatest comeback of all time, is debatable though!
Can Jon Rahm get Maiden Masters Win in 2022?
The favorite in the betting odds is Spain’s Jon Rahm, and he’s a favorite for many reasons. Up until a couple of weeks ago, Rahm had been the world’s number one. He’s currently ranked 2 in the world, so he has the pedigree to win his first Green Jacket.
Another reason Rahm is the favorite is his recent record at Augusta. Last year he finished T5, the previous year he was T7, in 2019 he was T9, and in 2018 he finished 4th. Rahm has an excellent record on this course.
His recent form hasn’t been up to his usual high standards though, and because of this, I’m only picking Rahm to win each way, or for a place in the Top 10.
Time for Justin Thomas to claim his Second Major?
Justin Thomas looks in good form this season, hence why he’s the second favorite in the betting odds to win at Augusta. His putting is looking good this year, a theory backed up by top 20 finishes on the greens at the recent Valspar and the Genesis tournaments.
The 2017 US PGA Champion has so far underachieved when it comes to winning Majors. And at 13.00, I feel Thomas represents better value than Rahm, and I’m happy to make him one of my picks to win what would be his second Major title.
Outside 2022 Master Bet; Marc Leishman
For my outside bet this year I’m going for Australia’s Marc Leishman at 51.00. Although Leishman hasn’t done anything to suggest he’s a potential golf Major winner, he does have a good record at Augusta.
Last year he finished T5 on -6. Previous to that, he finished T13 in 2020, and 9th in 2018. Go back to 2013, and he finished 4th. Leishman has never finished with a score of -10 or lower at Augusta, and with the last 4 winners all carding finishing scores of -10, -20, -13, and -15, he is going to have to improve to be a winner.
But with his record here and his long odds, I think Leishman is well worth an each-way bet with Sports Interaction at 51.00.
