Nomadland is favourite for Best Motion Picture at 1.5, but will this Frances McDormand classic be able to outmuscle The Trial of the Chicago 7? We’ll reveal all this and much more below.
Best Motion Picture: The Trial of the Chicago 7 (3.10)
Anything Frances McDormand touches turns to gold. We had 7 Billboards Outside of Ebbing and now this, which is a role some might not associate with her usual movies, a classic story of the American nomad.
One of the other Golden Globe favourites for 2021 is the Trial of the Chicago 7, which documents the infamous 1969 trial of 5 ill accused men. The pictures come at a time that speaks to the audience in a compelling way.
The Black Lives Matter movement has gone global and the racial prejudice in this movie is apt for the present day. Among the 78th Golden Globe awards favourites, this is the pick to make.
Best Motion Comedy/Musical: Hamilton (2.50)
Out of the movies, the one that stands out to us is Hamilton. It appeals to a wide audience and it’s some of the most-streamed content on the Disney+ platform.
It’s a musical, rather than a comedy which is often favoured. But the quality of the production in Hamilton shines through and makes it the best of the Golden Globe favourites for 2021.
Many of the other movies are great, but they don’t have the lasting power of Hamilton. It’s the kind of movie fans will watch over and over again. A movie that appeals to all ages and all demographics – our winner.
Best TV Movie or Series: The Queen’s Gambit (1.50)
The Queen’s Gambit was an instant hit. It came at a time where many people during lockdown were looking for alternative ways to entertain themselves, one of these ways was to take up chess.
While this is true, the series is excellent for all audiences. The acting and production are real standouts when compared to the candidates. Ana Taylor-Joy was excellent and really captures the time the show was set in.
While the odds don’t offer much value, there may be some movement, so keep your eyes on this one and check back with us!
