Boxing Picks: Anthony Joshua Vs Tyson Fury

Boxing Picks: Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury

This is the fight the boxing world has been discussing for years now. We finally have the bout slated for 2021, not just once but twiceFury opens as the favourite and we are very likely going to see some of the best boxing from the champ if he stays disciplined leading up to the fight.

The fights will unify the world titles, which each fighter holds, with the first fight taking place in June or July and the second later in the year in November or December.

While the dates aren’t set in stone yet, it’s clear this fight is the next big bout in boxing and will draw in fans from around the world. The stage is set and if organizers can maneuver around COVID-19 restrictions, there’s a very good chance the two dates slated for these bouts will go ahead.

Both fighters are quite different stylistically. Fury is the more natural boxer, but Joshua has youth on his side, which is also reflected in his physique. Anthony Joshua has a huge frame and has devastating striking, notably his uppercuts.

This bout is of huge significance as the winner will be crowned the undisputed heavyweight champion, which is something we haven’t seen for some time now. Deontay Wilder was the last challenger, but there is nobody left in the game but these two. Who will win be the undisputed champ in 2021?

Our In-house boxing experts have assessed the boxing odds from the very best online sportsbooks available to Canadian players and made some predictions for the first bout. Stay tuned for more on the big fight!

The boxing promoter that brought us Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev at the end of 2020 Eddie Hearn is slating this two bout Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury series to be the best of the decade. Many had hoped the June fight would take place in Las Vegas, but the first bout in the two-fight deal will be held in Saudi Arabia with many hoping the rematch will take place in London or in the States. The fight will be available via ESPN and various pay-per-view channels.

It’s hard to deny that this will be the biggest fight in recent heavyweight boxing history. Heavyweight title fights haven’t drawn in the viewing figures we saw in years gone by, as the UFC, and MMA in general, emerges as the most popular combat sport. The Anthony Joshua odds reveal the Brit starts out as the underdog with all of the top sports books. But, will he defy the sports betting odds and produce a heavyweight title winning performance?

Bettors should be aware that Fury is favorable in this matchup due to his superior striking technique and footwork. Betting on fights isn’t as popular as markets such as March Madness and major North American sports leagues, but it’s rapidly catching up. Let’s take a look at some picks for the big fight below.

Tyson Fury to cruise to another victory

Fury enters the bout as the WBC and lineal champion, while Joshua holds the WBO, IBF, WBA, and IBO titles. All of which will be on the line for both fighters, when they step into the ring at the start of the summer.

Many experts the “Gypsy King” to heavily outbox Joshua. This is something we tend to agree with, Joshua isn’t anywhere near as good on his feet as Fury. His range of striking may be lethal, but it doesn’t have the kind of speed or accuracy as Fury.

We saw just how good Fury can be when he fought Deontay Wilder in his last major bout. Moreover, we saw just how poor Joshua can perform, as he did two fights ago when Andy Ruiz Jr. shocked the world and beat the Brit.

Fury holds an outstanding record of 30-0-1 and Joshua 24-1-0. The defeat to Ruiz is the worry that will hang over the heads of Joshua fans. He has shown he can dance with the best in the game, but this recent blip has affected the odds, with many hoping it won’t have done the same to Joshua’s confidence.

Fury to win via KO/TKO

Tyson Fury has fought 30 times over his career, with 21 of those fights ending via KO/TKO. Although he doesn’t have the same power as some of the heavyweight greats of the past, Tyson is frighteningly accurate and can still deliver enough power to put fighters on their backs.

As we saw with the first bout between Joshua vs Ruiz if someone catches the Watford man he is liable to go down. This is something Tyson will look to exploit. We predict that he will move in and out and use his pace and quickness to overcome Joshua.

This isn’t to say there won’t be a danger coming from Joshua, but it’s not something that is going to vex Fury. At 32-years old, he’s very much in his prime. We’ve seen and heard of struggles he’s had both physically and mentally, but if he turns up fight ready this will be a one-sided affair.

We don’t expect to see an early knockout blow, but psychological and physical maiming from the “Gypsy King”. He will use his height to his height and reach to effect, picking away at Joshua throughout the bout. Expect to see a masterclass from Fury.
