Toronto Looks to Grow Lead in East with Win Against Montreal

With one game separating the Montreal Alouettes and the Toronto Argonauts for tops in the East Division – this game is the most important in Week 12. The Argonauts won the first meeting 30-27 back in Week 8. Despite giving up 551 yards to the Alouettes, the Argonauts’ defence was key to the victory – forcing two key interceptions in the win.

Montreal enters the rematch with a different QB – after losing Vernon Adams Jr. to a shoulder injury. The Alouettes offence is as effective as any in the CFL this season with Adams, leading the CFL in yardages. Last week the Alouettes won with backup Matthew Shiltz against Ottawa – which does mean much this season. They picked up about 90 fewer yards in the win than their season average.

The Argonauts look great coming into this match. QB McLeod Bethal-Thompson is playing excellently over the Argos three-game winning streak. He has nearly 800 passing yards, six touchdowns (including two bombs over 45 yards) and only two picks. He alone gives the Argos the edge in this pivotal showdown.

Hamilton Eyes Key Victory Against Ottawa on Saturday

Hamilton looks to snap their two-game losing streak when they face the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday. Ottawa is the worst defensive team in the league this season – allowing 28.5 points per game. The poor defensive play has Ottawa sitting at 2-8 with little chance of making the 2021 CFL Playoffs.

Hamilton – despite two losses – is playing well lately. The Argos eked out a 24-23 win on Thanksgiving, while it took Montreal overtime to beat Hamilton the week prior. Hamilton’s last three losses are by a combined five points, while three of their four wins this season are by double-digits.

Hamilton is an easy pick at home this week. The CFL odds on them winning outright are relatively low, so we suggest your parlay the Tiger-Cats with one of our other three betting predictions on Week 12.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Aim for West Division Title with a win against the Lions

The Blue Bombers wrap up the West Division with a win this week against the Lions. At 9-1, they are rolling and look unstoppable They crushed the Lions in Week 9, 30-9 with the offence and defence both playing at peak levels.

It is pretty much impossible to go against the Blue Bombers at home right now. They have won four of five home games this season by at least 13 points and won their last five games by at least 15 points. Their defence is the best in the league, while their quarterback Zach Collaros is now firmly in the MOP conversation.

Second in the West is up for Grabs in Showdown Between Calgary and Saskatchewan

With five each, this game could decide the second seed in the West Division – potentially setting up the fourth game this season between the West Division foes. Calgary has won two in a row this season against the Roughriders and is now only a half-game behind Saskatchewan.

The Stampeders are starting to roll as we approach the final month of the season. They have reeled off three straight wins – thanks to improvements from their offence and defence. Calgary is coming off their most decisive win of the year – 39-10 beatdown of the BC Lions.

Saskatchewan was on their bye last week – following two losses to Calgary. The games were close, with Calgary winning the pair by nine points total. The bye week is just what the doctor ordered for Saskatchewan – who for a while was second to Winnipeg in Grey Cup odds.

Saskatchewan should get back some players for the Week 12 game – including the recent signing of D’haquille Williams. Williams last played in the CFL in 2018 – picking up 1579 yards and 11 TDs for Edmonton. The addition gives Cody Fajardo a much-needed weapon – as he has only topped 220 passing yards in two of his last six starts. It is also hard to beat a team three times consecutively in football.
