UFC 249 Odds, facts and previews for main fights

With so much to play for it’s important to get the full-picture before wagering on any of the bouts at UFC 249. Below you’ll get the latest from each fighter’s camp and what our reviewed and recommended sportsbooks think of each fighters’ chances.

Tony Ferguson (1.50) vs Justin Gaethje (2.60)

Tony Ferguson enters this one as the favourite having won every fight for years now. His unique style coupled with his relentless pace in the Octagon makes him a clear favourite. While Ferguson will be frustrated that he once again didn’t get his fight against the champ, he will be fight ready and punish Gaethje.

Justin Gaethje has won his last three fights, including wins over Cerrone and Edson Barboza. While Gaethje’s record isn’t great, he has a lethal standup game and will punish Ferguson if he gives him an opportunity. Justin Gaethje hasn’t got a great wrestling background or a great ground game which will be problematic on the night.

Take Tony Ferguson to win.

Calvin Kattar (1.40) vs Jeremy Stephens (2.90)

Calvin Kattar will enter this fight having lost out to the Russian to Zabit Magomedsharipov via decision, with the result being protested against by some in Kattar’s corner.

Stephens has 19 wins by knockout on his record and is always a real aggressor inside the Octagon. He will travel to New York having lost out in his last fight against Yair Rodriguez in what was a brutal fight.

Jeremy hasn’t won a fight in almost 2 years, which makes Calvin the favourite across most sportsbooks. Kattar looked solid in his last fight, although he lost, and we peg him to go out there again and put on a performance against Stephens.

Take Calvin Kattar to win.

Henry Cejudo (1.44) vs Dominick Cruz (2.75)

Dominick Cruz was a beast back in the day, at 34 now he’s slightly older than his opponent but certainly the old dog at the top. Henry Cejudo is the current Bantamweight and Flyweight champion, as he looks to defend his Bantamweight belt against the former champ Cruz.

The reigning champ has the better wrestling, but Cruz has an excellent striking and will look to capitalize on that. It’s worth mentioning that Cruz hasn’t had a professional fight since UFC 207, where he lost to Cody Garbrandt back in 2016.

Cejudo won twice back in 2019, but this will mark the first fight he’s had in 2020. While they’ve both been out the Octagon for a short while, it’s Cruz who’s been out the game the longest.

Dana White knew what it meant bringing Cruz in to fight the champ and that was probably to get three rounds out of him. We expect him to get that, but we see Cejudo overcoming Cruz in the third round

Take Henry Cejudo to win.
