Bet On Canada Soccer Team Games
Over the years Canada has struggled in international soccer competitions. Canada has only once qualified for the World Cup, doing so in 1986. The results in the World Cup – to put it lightly were not pretty. Canada lost all three games in the Group Stage while failing to score a goal. Canada has had better success in the CONCACAF Gold Cup – the championship competed for amongst North and Central America teams. Canada has won the championship twice – in 1985 and 2000. Outside of those two successes, Canada’s history in competitive soccer is not very impressive or notable.
Canada’s fortune in soccer seems as though it is ready to change. The sport of soccer has grown in popularity over the last twenty years helping Canada to product a larger number of talented players, including Cyle Larin, the top pick in the 2015 MLS draft. One player may not make much of a difference right away, it does provide a building block for Canada and will help them attract better players for the future.
Canada has a rivalry with the United States in soccer due to geography, but has failed to make it anything more than that. As Canada rarely plays much more than friendlies against countries outside of North America and their poor performances, few countries really consider Canada a challenge let alone a rival. If Canada can qualify for the 2018 World Cup – and failing that 2022 – then Canada’s will get a chance to create some new rivalries with international clubs.
Traditionally Canada is an underdog in most matches they play. The line may shift more in their favour if they are playing on home soil or a team is not fielding its top roster. Check game location, roster and how important the game is – is it for qualifying, a tournament match or a friendly – before wagering on any games featuring Canada’s national team.
