They’ve taken many forms. They started as the Winnipeg Jets, they used to be the Phoenix Coyotes, and now they’re the Arizona Coyotes. Through all their changes, they have never really found any sort of major success over the years. They have never won the Cup, and never even played in the finals. After making it to the conference finals in 2011-12, they fell hard out of the playoff picture and have missed the postseason every year since then. They also had another long playoff drought from 2003-2009.

Most of the headlines they have made over the last decade or so has been over the fate of the franchise itself. It’s filed for bankruptcy, ownership has tried to make them the Hamilton Coyotes, and the team was rechristened as the Arizona Coyotes.

Arizona Coyotes’ Standings

Here’s a glance at the Arizona Coyotes standings. Check out how they’re doing against the rest of the division and the rest of the NHL.

Bet On Arizona Coyotes’ Games

The Coyotes are stuck in the middle. Not good enough to make waves in the playoffs or regular season, not bad enough to score big in the NHL draft. The franchise’s lack of stability over the years also makes this a less than attractive pitch to free agents.

Hockey in the desert has been a tough sell for both players and fans thus far, it’s hard for fans to get too excited or attached to the franchise, as it’s currently on a very short lease, and they could pack up and move to anywhere Las Vegas to London at a moment’s notice. This clearly creates a less than invested attitude in the players, coaching staff, and everyone in the front office.

Here’s what they do have. A few good pieces to the puzzle, just in case they do want to build a winner in Glendale. The team is being called a “Reboot” instead of a rebuild. That’s pretty fitting. You reboot your machine when it’s doing nothing or frozen. The Coyotes’ CTRL + ALT + Del will feature a roster that will change over. A lot. So don’t get too attached to a lot of the faces you see.
