Remember that TV game show Bowling For Dollars? Well, we are here to say that old classic pales in comparison to the thrilling US College Football Bowl Season. Going strong and growing, the first NCAA football playoff match was the 1902 Tournament East-West game, which morphed into the modern day Rose Bowl. Played almost daily, during the last half of December, Bowl Season leads to the Final Four Playoffs and National Championship Game in January.
NCAA Football Bowl Predictions
Although the number of contests drops, compared to the NCAAF regular season when upwards of seventy contests are played each week, there are new twists and turns when it comes to betting on the College Football Bowl Season matches. While a solid standard research path still needs to be followed, bettors also need to be concerned with scenarios like games being played at neutral sites, lame duck coaching staffs, plus unfamiliar way out of conference matchups. Some teams may just go through the motions – being as a bigger fish they were hoping to fry has already slipped away.
Of the new research twists, game location can be one of the biggest. That is due to a normally focused team, that plays tough in their home State like land-locked Ohio for instance, may take things slightly less serious at Thomas Robinson Stadium which is a stones throw from the beautiful beaches in Nassau, Bahamas. Also, a squad that played their hearts out trying to make the playoffs, but came away empty during Conference Final Weekend, may be somewhat deflated playing in a “lessor” Bowl battle. Research remains as the most important key to making successful predictions.

NCAAF 2017-18 Bowl Game Picks and Results
Segment One College Football Bowl Games: December 16 to 21, 2017.
Update: Segment One Predictions Posted on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 6:40 PM ET
North Carolina A&T vs. Grambling State Pick: Aggies -8.5 (-110) ATS @ BetOnline
Kicking off the 2017 NCAAF Bowl Season, the Aggies and Tigers clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. North Carolina A&T looks to complete a perfect 12-0 season run while Grambling State (10-1) lost just once – when they stepped up in class and were crushed 43-14 by the Tulane Green Wave. Solid on both sides of the ball – back the Aggies to capture the Celebration Bowl. Final Score: North Carolina A&T Aggies 21-14
Troy vs. North Texas Pick: Trojans -7.5 (+110) ATS @ SportsInteraction
Battling in the Bayou, Troy faces North Texas at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the New Orleans Bowl. Something has to give here as Troy (10-2) gave up just 17.5 PPG while North Texas (9-4) scored 35.9 PPG this season. The Trojans have won six straight and are looking for their first 11 win season in school history. The Mean Green have won nine in a row but the Troy defense rules the day here. Final Score: Troy Trojans 50-30
Western Kentucky vs. Georgia State Pick: Hilltoppers -6.5 (-110) ATS @ Bet365
Meeting at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL, Western Kentucky (6-6) and Georgia State (6-5) both struggled down the stretch. The Hilltoppers lost four of five while the Panthers closed their season with two losses by a 55-20 count. Western Kentucky has won three straight Bowl games, scoring 48.3 PPG on average, and we see that trend continuing in the AutoNation Cure Bowl. Final Score: Georgia State Panthers 27-17
Boise State vs. Oregon Pick: Broncos +7.5 (-110) ATS @ Bodog
Oregon and Boise State square off at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. The Ducks (7-5) closed their season with wins over Arizona and Oregon State by a 117-38 margin. After a 2-2 start, the Broncos (10-3) won eight of their last nine – including the Mountain West Championship game 17-14 over #25 Fresno State. Boise State is 3-0 in the Las Vegas Bowl – take the Broncos with points. Final Score: Boise State Broncos 38-28
Marshall vs. Colorado State Pick: Rams (-220) Money Line @ SportsInteraction
Dreamstyle Stadium hosts a pair of 7-5 teams when Marshall and Colorado State clash in Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Both squads stumbled down the stretch as the Thundering Herd lost four of five while the Rams dropped three of their final four contests. Marshall has a stout defense, which should keep this game close, so we are backing the Rams on the SportsInteraction money line. Final Score: Marshall Thundering Herd 32-28
Arkansas State vs. Middle Tennessee Pick: Red Wolves -3.5 (-110) ATS @ Betway
Two fairly high scoring squads, that both have suspect defenses, clash when Arkansas State battles Middle Tennessee in the Camellia Bowl at Crampton Bowl Stadium in Montgomery, AL. The Red Wolves scored 38.5 PPG and allowed 24.9 PPG while the Blue Raiders posted 24.8 PPG and gave up 24.3 PPG. We like QB Justice Hansen over QB Brent Stockskill – lay the line to back Arkansas State. Final Score: Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 35-30
Florida Atlantic University vs. Akron Pick: Owls -22.5 (-110) ATS @ Bet365
Enjoying a rare Bowl game home field advantage, high scoring Florida Atlantic (10-3) hosts Akron (7-6) at FAU Stadium in the Boca Raton Bowl. The Owls averaged 491.8 yards and posted 39.8 PPG on offense. The Zips allowed more points (26.3) than they scored (25.5) this season. Florida Atlantic posted a 6-1 record at home this year and, while the spread is massive, we will fly with the Owls. Final Score: Florida Atlantic University Owls 50-3
Louisiana Tech vs. SMU Pick: Mustangs -5 (-110) ATS @ SportsInteraction
After a tough regular season slate, featuring three Top 25 matchups, Southern Methodist (7-5) gets a lessor foe when they face Louisiana Tech (6-6) in the inaugural DXL Frisco Bowl at Toyoto Stadium in Frisco, TX. SMU piles up points as the Mustangs averaged 40 PPG – including 36, 24 and 45 in their games against #20 TCU, #18 UCF and #21 Memphis. Saddle up and ride with the Mustangs. Final Score: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 51-10
Florida International vs. Temple Pick: Golden Panthers +7 (-110) ATS @ Bodog
Tropicana Field, in St. Petersburg, FL, hosts the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl featuring Temple vs. Florida International. The Owls (6-6) were outscored by a 24.8 to 27.7 count while the Golden Panthers (8-4) were slightly better as 27.5 to 28.5 was their score average. FIU brings a balanced attack on offense and we feel this price is a little high – take the points and back the Panthers. Final Score: Temple Owls 28-3

Segment Two College Football Bowl Games: December 22 to 27, 2017.
Welcome to the second segment of the 2017-18 NCAA Football Bowl season. We opened with a rocky 3-6 ATS start during the unpredictable first segment Bowl battles. Underdogs went 6-3 ATS and a surprising 5-4 SU. It didn’t help that SMU failed to show up vs Louisiana Tech or that Florida International lost starting QB Alex McGough on the first series vs Temple. We look to get back on track as the action heats with contests on five of the next days.
Update: Segment Two Predictions Posted on December 22, 2017, at 12:30 AM ET
UAB vs. Ohio Pick: Blazers +7 (-110) ATS & Ohio -305 ML @ SportsInteraction
Segment 2 of the 2017-18 NCAAF Bowl Season begins with Alabama Birmingham (8-4) battling Ohio (8-4) in the Bahamas Bowl. The Blazers won three of their last four contests while the Bobcats lost their final two matches. Ohio is dealing with some key injuries on offense – including top RB A.J. Ouellette. Take the TD head start and back the Blazers.
Final Score: Ohio Bobcats 41-6
Central Michigan vs. Wyoming Pick: Chippewas +145 ML & +3.5 (-110) ATS @ Bet365
Wyoming and Central Michigan square off in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The Chippewas were hot down the stretch winning five straight. The Cowboys closed their season with two close losses. This is another game that will be affected by injuries as Wyoming has a bunch of them. Cruise with Central Michigan straight up.
Final Score: Wyoming Cowboys 34-17
Texas Tech vs. South Florida Pick: Bulls -3 (-105) ATS & -140 ML @ Bodog
Legion Field in Alabama hosts the Birmingham Bowl that features South Florida facing Texas Tech. The Bulls (9-2) had high flying UCF on the ropes, before allowing 21 fourth quarter points, but lost 49-42 in their season finale. The Red Raiders (6-6) closed out their season on a 2-5 slide. We can’t see Texas Tech keeping up here – back the Bulls to cover the spread.
Final Score: South Florida Bulls 38-34
Army vs. San Diego State Pick: Aztecs -6.5 (-115) ATS & -265 ML @ SportsInteraction
Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, TX, is the venue for San Diego State vs. Army in the Armed Forces Bowl. The Aztecs (10-2) won their last four games by a combined 157-47 margin while the Black Knights (9-3) closed their year on a 7-1 run. All Army does is run the ball and they are up against a stout SD State run defense. Lay the line and back the Aztecs.
Final Score: Army Black Knights 42-35
Appalachian State vs. Toledo Pick: Over 61.5 Plus: Toledo -7.5 ATS & -300 ML @ Betway
Meeting at Ladd–Peebles Stadium, in Mobile, Alabama, Toledo faces Appalachian State in the Dollar General Bowl. The Rockets (11-2) won eight of their last nine games while the Mountaineers (8-4) closed their season with three wins by a 121-30 margin. These teams can both light up the scoreboard, and we expect they will, so back the OVER line at Betway.
Final Score: Appalachian State Mountaineers 38-0
Houston vs. Fresno State Pick: Bulldogs +2.5 (-105) ATS & +115 ML @ Bet365
Battling on the Big Island, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Fresno State and Houston meet in the Hawaii Bowl. Clock control (31 MIN TOP) helped the Bulldogs (9-4) defense allow a 9th best 17.2 points per game and the offense put up 27.6 PPG. The Cougars (7-5) scored 28.4 while allowing 23.0 PPG. Pups on the Bet365 NCAAF betting board – back the Bulldogs.
Final Score: Fresno State Bulldogs 33-27
West Virginia vs. Utah Pick: Utes -6.5 (-110) ATS & -270 ML @ SportsInteraction
Backup quarterbacks will lead Utah and West Virginia in the Heart of Dallas Bowl at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Texas. Troy Williams vs. Chris Chugunov gives Utah an advantage. The Utes (6-6) went 2-6 down the stretch – the Mountaineers (7-5) closed with a pair of losses. Utah is 10-1 in Bowl games under head coach Kyle Whittingham – we see that trend continuing.
Final Score: Utah Utes 30-14
Duke vs. Northern Illinois Pick: Huskies +5 (-110) ATS & Blue Devils -210 ML @ Bodog
Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, hosts Northern Illinois vs Duke in the Quick Lane Bowl. Losing 31-24 in their final game vs. Central Michigan spoiled a nice 6-1 run by the Huskies. After winning their first four games, the Blue Devils lost six straight before closing with two wins. Expecting a low scoring contest – we will take the +5 (-110) points and back Northern Illinois.
Final Score: Duke Blue Devils 36-14
Kansas State vs. UCLA Pick: Wildcats -2 (-110) & -130 ML @ Betway
Expect fireworks at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, when UCLA and Kansas State meet in the Cactus Bowl. Explosive on offense, though leaky on defense, Bruins (6-6) games averaged a 33.8 to 36.8 F/A final count. Better on defense, the Wildcats average score was 32.1 to 25.8 per contest. UCLA has the prized QB in Josh Rosen – but we will prowl with the Cats.
Final Score: Kansas City Wildcats 35-17
Florida State vs. Southern Miss Pick: Golden Eagles +16.5 (-110) @ SportsInteraction
A Group of Five vs Power Five Conference matchup features Southern Miss and Florida State at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, LA. It was an ugly year for the Seminoles (6-6) after they lost QB Deondre Francois in their first game. The Golden Eagles (8-4) are soaring into a new class but, at minimum, they will stay within the Independence Bowl three score spread.
Final Score: Florida State Seminoles 42-13
Iowa vs. Boston College Pick: Eagles +3 (-115) & +125 ML @ Bet365
Thanks to a 5-1 season ending run, Boston College earned a postseason spot in the Pinstripe Bowl versus Iowa who upset #6 Ohio State 55-24 back in Week 10. The Eagles snapped a five game losing streak with a 36-30 Quick Lane Bowl win last year. The Hawkeyes have lost five straight playoff contests. Boston College stays on a roll with a straight up win as pups.
Final Score: Iowa State Hawkeyes 27-20
Purdue vs. Arizona Pick: Wildcats -3.5 (-110) & -165 ML @ Bodog
Defensive minded Purdue faces offensive powerhouse Arizona in the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. The Boilermakers (6-6) are Big Ten battle tested and their six losses were by an average of nine points. The Wildcats have one of the worst defenses (34.1 PPG allowed) in college football. Backing the better QB, Khalil Tate, cash with the Cats.
Final Score: Purdue Boilermakers 38-35
Texas vs. Missouri Pick: Tigers -2.5 (-110) ATS & -145 ML @ SportsInteraction
Segment 2 closes with Texas tangling with Missouri at NRG Stadium in the Texas Bowl. The Longhorns (6-6) were competitive but lost to four Top 25 teams, including #2 Oklahoma and #15 TCU, while the Tigers (7-5) were torched by #6 Auburn and #3 Georgia. Missouri won their last six games by a 308-129 margin and they will keep scoring versus the Longhorns.
Final Score: Texas Longhorns 33-16

College Football Bowl Games – December 28, 2017 to January 1, 2018
Update: Segment Three Predictions Posted on December 26, 2017, at 10:30 PM ET
Preliminary NCAAF postseason action, prior to the four Selection Committee Bowl games, concludes with a slate twelve post-Christmas contests. Bowl betting is not for the faint of heart as every year some teams simple don’t show up on game day – we are looking at you Central Michigan and Toledo. Our selections have been up and down through the first two segments but it is now onward and upward as we head into the heart of the playoffs.
Virginia vs. Navy Pick: Midshipmen -1.5 (-110) ATS & -125 ML @ SportsInteraction
Navy-Marine Corps. Stadium in Annapolis, MD, hosts a pair of 6-6 teams when Navy battles Virginia in the Military Bowl. Both squads struggled down the stretch as the Midshipmen lost six of their last seven while the Cavaliers closed on a 1-5 skid. Home-field advantage, plus a multifaceted clock controlling rushing attack, has us sailing with Navy to win and cover.
Final Score: Navy Midshipmen 49-7
Virginia Tech vs. Oklahoma State Pick: Cowboys -4 (-110) ATS & -185 ML @ Bet365
Strength vs Strength will be on display when the Oklahoma State offense faces the Virginia Tech defense in the Camping World Bowl. The Cowboys average 46.3 PPG while the Hokies allowed just 13.5 PPG. VT will be without top WR Cam Philips (964 RY 7 TD) which hurts an already limited offense. Saddle up with the Cowboys high-flying battle tested offense here.
Final Score: Oklahoma State Cowboys 30-21
Stanford vs. TCU Pick: Cardinal +3 (-120) ATS & +120 ML @ Bodog
Top 15 teams, both coming off a loss in their Conference Championship match, square off in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, TX. Stanford lost a close contest (31-28) to USC while TCU was crushed (41-17) by Oklahoma in the Pac-12 and Big 12 title games. Doak Walker award winner Cardinal RB Bryce Love is a difference maker – take the points and side with Stanford.
Final Score: TCU Horned Frogs 39-37
Michigan State vs. Washington State Pick: Spartans -110 ML @ SportsInteraction
Meeting in the San Diego Holiday Bowl, Michigan State and Washington State are looking to end successful 9-3 seasons on a high note. The Spartans had signature wins against #7 Michigan and #7 Penn State, while the Huskies posted wins vs #5 USC and #21 Stanford. Washington State will be without their top two wide receivers who recently left the program.
Final Score: Michigan State Spartans 42-17
Wake Forest vs. Texas A&M Pick: Demon Deacons -3 (-110) ATS & -150 ML @ Betway
Facing off for the first time ever, Texas A&M and Wake Forest battle in the Belk Bowl at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Both squads finished with a 7-5 record and are battle tested after facing three Top 20 teams. Interim coach Jeff Banks will guide the Aggies while they await the highly heralded arrival of Jimbo Fisher. Dive in with the Demon Deacons.
Final Score: Wake Forest Demon Deacons 55-52 (Push)
NC State vs. Arizona State Pick: Wolfpack -6.5 (-110) & -250 ML @ Bet365
Sun Bowl Stadium, in El Paso, TX, hosts an ACC vs PAC-12 battle featuring Arizona State and NC State. The Sun Devils can light up the scoreboard but they are in the midst of a massive coaching turnover. The Wolfpack were on a big roll before dropping contests to Notre Dame and Clemson. Backing the better defensive squad – we are taking NC State ATS and SU.
Final Score: North Carolina State Wolfpack 52-31
Kentucky vs. Northwestern Pick: NW -7.5 (-110) ATS & -305 ML @ SportsInteraction
A pair of Wildcats meet when Northwestern faces Kentucky in the Music City Bowl at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN. Northwestern (9-3) won their last seven games including a 39-31 (3OT) victory over #16 Michigan State. Kentucky (7-5) lost their final two contests versus #7 Georgia (42-13) and Louisville (42-13). Back the Northwestern Cats to win by double digits.
Final Score: Northwestern Wildcats 24-23
New Mexico State vs. Utah State Pick: US Aggies -4 (-110) & -190 ML @ Bodog
Playing in their first postseason game since 1960, New Mexico State faces Utah State (who they beat 20-13 in the Sun Bowl 57 years ago) in the Arizona Bowl in Tucson, AZ. Utah State was 17th versus the pass this season while New Mexico State had the 6th ranked passing offense so something has to give here. It’s a tough call but we are taking Utah State.
Final Score: New Mexico State Aggies 26-20 (OT)
Louisville vs. Mississippi State Pick: Cardinals -6.5 (-110) -265 ML @ Betway
2016 Heisman Trophy winner QB Lamar Jackson faces Mississippi State in the TaxSlayer Bowl at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, FL. The Bulldogs will be without staring QB Nick Fitzgerald, who hurt his ankle in the Egg Bowl, and coach Dan Mullen who joined the Florida Gators. With those key pieces missing, we can’t see the Bulldogs keeping pace with Louisville.
Final Score: Mississippi State Bulldogs 31-27
Memphis vs. Iowa State Pick: Tigers -4 (-110) ATS & -190 ML @ SportsInteraction
Scoring juggernaut Memphis has home-field advantage when they meet Iowa State in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN. The Tigers closed their season on a 7-1 run and averaged 53.7 PPG in those contests. The Cyclones closed their season on a 1-3 skid and will have a difficult time keeping up with Memphis. The short price may be a trap but we are taking the Tigers.
Final Score: Iowa State Cyclones 21-20
Michigan vs. Southern Carolina Pick: Gamecocks +7.5 (-110) ATS @ Bet365
We get the first football game in 2018 when Southern Carolina and Michigan meet in the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. The Gamecocks and Wolverines both finished with an 8-4 record and faced tough slates in the SEC and Big Ten respectively. Expecting a low scoring contest, we are taking Southern Carolina with the TD plus a hook.
Final Score: Southern Carolina Gamecocks: 26-19
Notre Dame vs. LSU Pick: Tigers -3 (-120) ATS & -165 ML @ Bodog
Not what they were aiming for, Notre Dame clashes with LSU in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL. The Fighting Irish lost two of their last three while the Tigers closed with three straight wins. After what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, LSU had a nice season while Notre Dame crashed after starting out on an 8-1 roll. We’ll ride the momentum and take the Tigers.
Final Score: Notre Dame Fighting Irish 21-17

Selection Committee Bowl Betting – December 29, 2017 to January 1, 2018
Update: Predictions Posted on December 26, 2017, at 10:30 PM ET
Ohio State vs. USC Pick: Buckeyes -7.5 (-110) ATS & -310 ML @ SportsInteraction
Getting to the heart of the playoffs, the Selection Committee “Big Four” Bowl games begin with Ohio State vs. USC in the Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium. Both teams had bigger aspirations but the Buckeyes have to feel more jilted after being left out of the Final Four. The Trojans haven’t faced a defense like this all year and we’ll lay the line to back the Buckeyes.
Final Score: Ohio State Buckeyes 24-7
Penn State vs. Washington Pick: Nittany Lions -2 (-110) ATS & -125 ML @ Betway
Strong starts but crashing late was the story for Penn State and Washington who square off in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ. The Huskies run defense was the best in the Nation but faltered against the top back they faced as Stanford RB Bryce Love had 166 yards and three TD during a 30-22 Cardinal win in Week 11. Back RB Saquon Barkley and the Nittany Lions.
Final Score: Penn State Nittany Lions 35-28
Wisconsin vs. Miami Pick: Hurricanes +6 (-110) ATS @ Bet365
Playing on their home turf, Miami (10-2) meets Wisconsin (12-1) at Hard Rock Stadium in the Orange Bowl. Both teams had disappointing ends to their season as the Badgers lost 27-21 to Ohio State and the Hurricanes were crushed 38-3 by Clemson during their respective Conference Championship games. Take the points and back Miami in a close contest.
Final Score: Wisconsin Badgers 34-24
Auburn vs. Central Florida Pick: Tigers -9.5 (-110) & -380 ML @ SportsInteraction
Looking to go 13-0, after posting an 0-12 record just two years ago, UCF steps up in class as they battle SEC powerhouse Auburn (10-3) in the Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in New Orleans. Feeling the Tigers will rebound, from their disappointing 28-7 loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship game, we are laying the big price and backing Auburn to cover.
Final Score: University of Central Florida Knights 34-27
