Spurs vs. Raptors Team Previews

San Antonio Spurs – Surging Offence Helping Spurs get back into the Playoff Picture

After a rocky start to the season, the San Antonio Spurs have climbed back into a playoff spot and now sit only three games out of third place. The Spurs offence is rolling, scoring over 110 points per game, while ranking fourth in the NBA in field goal percentage (at 47.2%) and leading the league in three-point percentage at 39.7%.

The Spurs play a bit of an unorthodox, with the three-point playing a small role in the team’s success. Still, even if they limit their long-range attempts, making nearly 40% of shots is going to help any team in the NBA win games.

Toronto Raptors – Still Winning Despite the Absence of Kyle Lowry

The Raptors are leading the league in wins around the midpoint of the NBA season, despite Kyle Lowry missing time. The Raptors are 6-3 without Kyle Lowry (compared to 22-8 with him), a fine record for a team missing their second best player.

The health of Lowry is critical for the Raptors going into 2019. The Raptors need a full vision of the four-time All-Star if they are going to win the Eastern Conference. Because of this, Lowry is a question mark going into Thursday huge (albeit, in grand scheme not overly critical) game. His absence though on any given night is sure to affect Toronto Raptor betting lines

Spurs vs. Raptors Game Prediction

Game Predictions – Can Kawhi Deliver a Win in his Return to San Antonio?

When the NBA released the schedule in the summer, this was one of the biggest games of the year, and now with both teams holding playoff spots, this game is sure to be full of excitement. The Raptors are coming off a big win against the Utah Jazz. In that game Kawhi Leonard (45) and Pascal Siakim (28) set new career highs in points. Their play this season has been outstanding, especially Siakim who has stepped in the absence of Kyle Lowry. Siakim now has scored 20 points or more ten times this season (compared to once last year).

“The Raptors have been successful against the Western Conference this season, going 11-4 overall and 7-2 on the road.”

The big factors in this game are whether Lowry will play and how motivated DeMar DeRozan is against his former team. While the Raptors are 6-3 without Lowry, they are only 2-3 without him on the road this season. Questions around his health are affecting NBA betting lines on the game and delaying on online sportsbooks from releasing them.

Even if Lowry does not play, it will take a big game from DeRozan for the Spurs to bet the NBA’s top team. DeRozan felt betrayed by the Raptors when they traded him in the Spurs. That betrayal is sure to light a fire under DeMar on Thursday night.

“When DeMar scores at least 30 points this season, the Spurs are 6-3 overall and 5-0 at home.”

DeMar should have one of his best games of the season on Thursday, which should make this game close. However, the Raptors have enough knowledge on DeMar to make him earn his points, which will limit the rest of the Spurs from doing much to knock off the league’s best team. Take the Raptors on the point spread on Thursday night.

Pick: Toronto Raptors +1.5 (-110)
