Week 11 NCAA Basketball Championship 2019 Futures Update
US College basketball heating up and Duke going down are headlines as we head into Week 11 of the 2018-19 NCAAB season. An action packed Week 10, which had 343 games scheduled, ended with a bang as unranked Syracuse knocked off the #1 Blue Devils. While the Orange is full marks for their victory, Duke was without star Cam Reddish (illness) and lost key playmaking PG Tre Jones to a separated AC joint early in the first half. Reddish will be back soon – Jones is going to be out of action for some time.
“Duke lost at Cameron Indoor Arena as #1 seed for the first time since 2006”
Losing to Syracuse is disturbing but the injury to Jones is big as he led the Blue Devils in assists during ten of their first 15 games. Duke has some time to regroup, as they don’t play again until their much-anticipated showdown with #4 Virginia on 19/01/19. Looking at the morning after lines, the Blue Devils 95-91 OT defeat did not affect bookmakers much as Duke’s March Madness title price was held steady at Bodog and Betway, dropped slightly at Bet365 and was inflated at SportsInteraction in our odds table below.
Certain to drop, especially if they lose to the Cavaliers, Duke (14-2) remains atop the AP Top 25 poll as the Week 11 rankings were posted prior to the loss. In fact, the top ten rankings went unchanged week over week. Michigan (17-0) continues to roll over everyone as the #2 Wolverines have given up more then 69 points just once this season. Still slightly suspect on offense (73.6 PPG) Michigan is third behind Virginia (51.2) and Texas Tech (54.0) allowing 56.6 PPG on defense. Betway has the best Maize & Blue price.
“Michigan +850 at Bodog is a season low – Betway offers +1100 top value”
Sporting the #10 offense (85.8 PPG) in the Nation, Tennessee retained the #3 ranking in both polls. The Volunteers (14-1) defense has stepped up as well as they have not allowed more than 70 points in five straight games and have moved up to #37 overall allowing 65.1 PPG. Still tagged with a +1400 best value, the Tennessee price went unchanged at three of four top ranked CSB recommended bookmakers. The Vols still have a month of cupcake matches prior to their clash with #12 Kentucky who are climbing in both polls
Holding steady in both polls, #4 in the AP Top 25 and #1 in the Coaches Poll, Virginia (15-0) continues to stonewall opponents with their #1 ranked defense. Tuning up for #9 Virginia Tech tonight, and then #1 Blue Devils on Saturday, the Cavaliers rolled over Boston College (83-56) and Clemson (63-43) during Week 10 action. Despite having Duke on deck, expect the Cavs to be revenge-focused and to not look past their State rivals after Virginia lost the last meeting against the Hokies 61-60 (OT) in Week 14 last season.
Week 11 Free Pick Result: Virginia Cavaliers over Virginia Tech Hokies 81-59 = ATS Win
“Week 11 Free Pick: Cavaliers -7 (-120) over Hokies @ Bet365”
By a slim margin, Gonzaga owns the #5 ranking in both polls over Michigan State. The Bulldogs (16-2) continue their stroll down creampuff lane as they rolled over West Coast Conference foes Pacific (67-39) and San Francisco (96-83) last week. Void of any Top 25 talent on their remaining schedule, we would not be surprised if Gonzaga ends their regular season with a 29-2 record. Since back-to-back losses, in mid-December, the Bulldogs are 7-0 and have dominated their matches by a 90-52 average final score.
Speaking of dominating, #6 Michigan State (15-2) is certainly in the conversation as the Spartans have rolled to ten straight wins since dropping an 82-78 OT match vs Louisville back on 27/11/18. The East Lancing Crew has been solid at both ends of the court, as they have outscored their opponents by an 84-65 margin during their hot run. The Spartans have two games this week vs unranked Nebraska and then #19 Maryland who are 14-3 and jumped seven spots in the Week 11 AP Top 25 poll. We see a Spartans sweep.
“Michigan State lost 700 units of NCAAB Championship value at Bodog”
Happy we caught them early in Week 10, before they hit the skids in Syracuse, our free pick record moved to 6-1 after Duke covered as -20 point chalk vs Wake Forest. Taking a slow but steady approach, as we inch closer to the March Madness tournament, our single bets have returned a +415.15 unit profit so far this season. Offering unmatched service, quality betting lines, plus the convenience of wagering from anywhere, Canadian hoops handicappers are reminded that online sportsbooks are their best betting option.
Based on a host of reasons, sports lottery schemes in Canada are a long way from the same level as top offshore bookmakers. Most simply stated, your local lottery kiosk does not offer single bets. Depending on the jurisdiction, Canuck ‘Cappers are forced to place a two or three-game parlay wager to bet on NCAA basketball. The same rules apply for all competitions – including the National Football League as online bettors can chose to bet on one or both of the Conference Championship NFL playoff games on January 20, 2019.

08/01/19 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 10
Congratulations to the Clemson Tigers who crushed the Alabama Crimson Tide 44-16 to claim their second NCAAF National Championship in school history. With football action off betting boards, top online bookmakers will focus more on the second most popular US College sport – NCAA Basketball. Week 10, jam packed with 343 games – including a huge 148 match Saturday slate, marks the second half start. Teams are fully entrenched in the Conference portion of their schedules so let’s look at who is hot and who is not.
Picking up where they left off, prior to the Christmas break, Duke returned to action during Week 9 and crushed Clemson 87-68. Though the Tigers are not the same powerhouse as their pigskin squad, that’s a solid win for the Blue Devils as the Tigers were running hot, at 10-3 this season, and they advanced to the March Madness Sweet 16 last year. That ends a run of seven home games for Duke who now play Wake Forest and #13 Florida State on the road – prior to a home date with Syracuse to close out a busy Week 10 slate.
Week 10 Free Pick Result: Blue Devils defeat Demon Deacons 87-65 = ATS Win
“Week 10 Free Pick: Duke -20 (-120) over Wake Forest @ SportsInteraction”
Duke, #1 and #2 in the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll, was shuffled around at CSB NCAAB focused bookmakers as SportsInteraction bumped them up some, while Bodog, Bet365 and Betway all deflated their prices slightly. Cruising along, with a sparkling 15-0 record, Michigan retained the #2 AP Top 25 ranking. The Wolverines returned from the break and easily defeated Big Ten rival #21 Indiana 74-63 in a contest they led 44-29 at halftime. Michigan, with a +1100 best price at most books, now plays four unranked opponents.
Doing what they can, to impress the Selection Committee during a run of 16 games versus unranked squads, Tennessee 12-1 continues to impress. In their lone Week 9 match, the #3 Volunteers buried the Georgia Bulldogs by 95-50 final count. The Vols have now outscored their last three opponents by an average 92-56 final score. Tennessee has a +1400 March Madness futures line everywhere except Bodog who have them at +1000, which is a 200-unit drop since our Week 9 update. Not buying in yet – we are watching the Vols.
“Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia, Gonzaga and Kansas are second level chalk”
Keeping the previous top four rankings in order, #4 Virginia held their position in the AP Top 25 Poll. The Cavaliers rolled then #9 Florida State 65-52 in their lone match last week and now visit Boston College and Clemson for a pair of cupcake Week 10 contests. Waiting after that, the Cavs get #9 Virginia Tech at home and then visit #1 Duke in Week 11. The win over the Seminoles moved Virginia past Duke into the #1 slot in the Coaches Poll and the Cavaliers best NCAA Championship price (+1400) is currently available at Betway.
Jumping two spots in the polls, Gonzaga rounds out the top five as the Bulldogs opened West Coast Conference play with a 91-48 rout of Santa Clara. The Broncos visited Spokane with some confidence as they had won six straight by an average 82-64 final count. If nothing else, the Gonzaga beat-down of Santa Clara shows the Bulldogs have many blowout matches ahead in the rather weak WCC. Posted at +800 at Betway, plus +1000 at Bodog and Bet365, SportsInteraction is offering the Bulldogs at a +1100 best value.
“Michigan State has won eight straight – latest a 86-77 win vs #14 Ohio State”
Just outside the top five, Michigan State jumped two positions and they are not very far behind the Bulldogs. Gonzaga received 1319 ballot points while the #6 Spartans garnered 1291 – both teams are trail #4 Virginia who tallied 1471 pollster points. After hovering around the +2900 mark for most of the season, the Spartans best price took a hit as it was deflated to +2500 at Bodog. Kansas and Nevada were the top six teams displaced as the Jayhawks fell to #7 and the Wolfpack dropped all the way to #10 on the AP Top 25.
Both of squads suffered a loss last week as Kansas (12-2) was ripped 77-60 on the road by Iowa State and Nevada (14-1) was tagged with their first loss during an 85-58 meltdown in New Mexico. The Jayhawks best price line (+1000 to +1300) wasn’t jacked up as much as the Wolfpack (+1500 to +2000) at Bet365. Texas Tech moves up from the #11 spot to #8 while Virginia Tech lumped from #11 to the #9 perch to round out the Top Ten. The Red Raiders (+5000) and Aggies (+7000) odds look tempting but a pass is advised.
“Canada Sports Betting Free Picks move to 5-1 following Week 9 Nevada cash”
Happy we jumped on them before they crashed, our NCAAB regular season single wager marked moved to 5-1 after Nevada blitzed Utah State 72-49 during their first action of the New Year. Wondering if/when the Wolfpack would lose a game, during our update last week, we found out pretty quick, as the Lobos lassoed them five days later. Once we get closer to Tournament Time, and past the race to Super Bowl 53, we will increase our Free Pick volume. A reminder – no matter the sport – online bookmakers offer the best action.

01/01/19 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 9
Happy New Year! Wishing good Health, Happiness and Prosperity for all. NCAA Basketball has completed their pause for Santa Claus and most teams now begin their conference schedule play. A little behind on this update, Week 9 action has already begun as #9 Florida and #10 Virginia Tech opened 2019 with victories over Winthrop and Notre Dame respectively. It was not a Happy New Year for #16 Marquette as the Golden Eagles were clipped 89-69 by the St John’s Red Storm. Let’s have a look at the rest of the week.
For the first time this year, AP Top 25 poll rankings remained unchanged week-over-week as most schools were off for the Holidays. Duke begins the last week of the first half with the #1 ranking for a second in a row. The Blue Devils (11-1) open a run of eight straight ACC contests that includes matches against #5 Florida State and #4 Virginia. The slate opens on 05/01/19 vs Clemson and the Tigers hit the break hot so me might get a decent price on Duke. We like that match as a possible Free Pick and may bet it on game day.
“Duke remains as March Madness chalk with a +225 Bet365 best price”
Impressing pollsters and bookmakers alike, Michigan (13-0) returned from the Christmas break and bashed Binghamtom 74-52 on 30/12/18. Enjoying lots of home cooking so far, 11 of the Wolverines first 13 non-tournament games were played in Ann Arbor. After two more home games, versus Penn State and #21 Indiana, the Wolverines play nine of their last 16 contests on the road. In a five-team group of second favorites, Michigan fell to +900 at Bodog but they still have a +1000 best value at SportsInteraction.
Tennessee closed Week 8 with a 96-53 thrashing of the Tennessee Tech for their eighth straight win over the Golden Eagles. That is the Volunteers (11-1) seventh victory since a 87-81 OT loss to Kansas in the NIT Season Tip-Off title game. The Vols don’t have a Top 25 team on their slate until mid-February, and then four of their last seven games are vs ranked opponents. Trying to earn the highest tournament seed possible – Tennessee will want to make statements in their dozen cupcake contests prior to that stretch.
“Season opening +3600 pups, Tennessee is down to a +1300 best value”
Another top ACC contender stormed out of the break as Virginia mauled Marshall 100-64 on New Year’s Eve. That is just the third time the Cavaliers (12-0) allowed more then 59 points this season. On the flipside, the Cavs eclipsed the century mark for the first time during their thumping of the Thundering Herd. In their first real test, during the 2018-19 NCAAB slate, Virginia hosts #9 Florida State on 05/81/18 in a big ACC duel that we will be watching closely. The Cavaliers have a season-low +1100 title line across the board.
Almost needing to say “hey, don’t forget about us” the Wolf Pack continue their strong play in the weak Mountain West Conference. #6 Nevada, with a +1600 best value at Bodog, join Michigan as the only 13-0 teams in the Top Ten after they defeated Utah 89-71 to close out Week 8 action. While they still have 18 contests left, it is difficult to find a spot where Nevada might lose. Sitting second the MWC, Utah State is a big underdog when they visit the Lawlor Events Center in Reno to duel with Nevada on January 2, 2019.
Week 9 Free Pick Result: Nevada Wolfpack 72-49 over Utah State Aggies = ATS Win
“Bet Nevada -9.5 (-120) at SportsInteraction vs Utah State 02/01/19”
Gonzaga, another strong team that plays in a weak division, will close out their remaining 16 games against teams in the West Coast Conference. How that will sit with the March Madness voters is yet to be determined but games against the likes of Portland Pepperdine and Santa Clara are not exactly quality contests. The #7 Bulldogs (13-2) gained 100 units of value at SportsInteraction and Bet365. Michigan State (11-2) has won six straight as the Spartans lead the third tier favorites with a +2900 price at Bodog.
Mentioning #9 Florida State earlier, the Seminoles have a tough road ahead as they play #4 Virginia and #1 Duke over an eight-day span starting on Saturday. FSU posted a 79-76 OT win over LSU and a 73-72 victory against Purdue in their only tests against top 25 teams this season. The Tigers and Boilermakers both had a #19 ranking before falling from the ranks. Recovering from a 63-62 stumble vs Pen State, Virginia Tech (12-1) has won seven straight as they prepare for a long haul against top squads in the ACC.

25/12/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 8
Wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday Season filled with Peace, Love, Health and Hope! Week 8, in the race to the March Madness tournament, has arrived and the overall rankings shifted considerably following Week 7 action. After falling out of the top spot in Week 4, Duke is back in the #1 position on the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll. The Blue Devils (11-1) ripped through a cupcake schedule and then took out #12 Texas Tech 69-58 during their first real challenge since they lost to Gonzaga 89-87 back in Week 3.
Duke continues as top National Championship chalk and the Blue Devils +250 best price is available at Bet365. Prior to opening their Atlantic Coastal Conference schedule, on 05/01/19, RJ Barrett, Zion Williamson and Crew are in the midst of a two-week break. The ACC is stacked, it currently boasts six AP Top 25 teams, and those squads will play each other at least once over the next 11 weeks. Virginia, sitting #1 in the Coaches Poll, visits Duke on 19/01/19 and again on 23/02/19 in contests that will have a playoff feel.
“Seven of the Blue Devils final 19 games are vs Top 25 ranked ACC squads”
Opening on a 12-0 run, outscoring their opponents by an average 73-55 final count, Michigan has moved to #2 on the AP Top 25 list and #4 in the Coaches Poll. Pleased we jumped on the Wolverines, at their +2000 National Championship line last week, the Maize & Blue have fallen to +1200 at three of our four recommended NCAA Basketball betting sportsbooks. Following tune ups vs Binghamton and Penn State, Michigan plays #13 Ohio State, #15 Wisconsin, #23 Indiana twice and #24 Iowa over a 24-day stretch.
Tennessee (10-1) retains the #3 ranking, as the Volunteers have won six straight since their 87-81 OT loss to Kansas. Following their 76-73 Week 6 win vs then #1 Gonzaga, the Vols don’t play another Top 25 team until they face #16 Kentucky on February 16, 2019. Betway bookmakers are offering a +2000 best value on Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield, Jordan Bone and Crew. Hoops success is helping fans forget about a 5-7 NCAAF record, as the Vols were Bowl Game ineligible for a second straight season.
“Virginia, +1400 at Betway, appears recovered from 2018 MM meltdown”
Virginia jumped one spot in the Associated Press rankings and to the top of the Coaches Poll. Beyond back-to-back wins vs #25 Wisconsin, plus #24 Maryland who have since dropped out of the Top 25, the Cavaliers have played a fairly light schedule. That will change in the New Year as the Cavs face #9 Florida State #10 Virginia Tech and #1 Duke during their first six games once they return from the Christmas Holiday break. That will be a true test to see if Virginia has moved past their 2018 March Madness meltdown.
Kansas, priced at a consensus +1000, crashed from #1 to #5 after an 80-76 loss in the desert to #18 Arizona State. That’s two straight December losses to the Sun Devils as Kansas was on the wrong end a 95-85 contest at home vs ASU last season. Being as that was the Jayhawks last game before the break, we feel sorry for the Eastern Michigan Eagles who land at Allen Fieldhouse, in Lawrence, KS, to face an angry Kansas Crew on 29/12/18. That is a premium Week 8 betting opportunity, as the Jayhawks will soar.
Week 8 Free Pick Result: Kansas Jayhawks 87-63 over Eastern Michigan Eagles = ATS Win
“29/12/18 Jayhawks vs Eagles: Kansas -22 (-120) @ SportsInteraction”
Nevada, who has pasted opponents by an 82-62 average final score, stayed steady at #6 in both polls. After taking out #20 Arizona State, 72-66 Week 6, the Wolf Pack will not play a Top 25 team until March Madness. As the only ranked team in the weak Mountain West Conference – Nevada is doing what they need to do to impress the Selection Committee. Buyer beware though as, following a strong 7-1-1 run against the spread, Nevada has failed to cover in three straight games. Bodog offers a +1600 best value on Nevada.
Gonzaga (11-2) took the frustrations of two straight losses out on UT Arlington (89-55) and Denver (101-40) and moved up one spot in the rankings. Despite the bashings, Bodog moved the #8 ranked Bulldogs price up 100-units. Michigan State (10-2) plus newcomers Florida State (11-1) and Virginia Tech (10-1) round out the current AP Top 10 rankings. Those squads have lofty NCAAB National Championship lines, as the Spartans are +2600 at Bodog, the Seminoles are +6600 at Betway and the Hokies are +7000 at Bet365.
“Canada Sports Betting US College Basketball Select Free Picks are 3-1”
We cashed with Oklahoma, for the second time this season, as the Sooners rolled over the Creighton Bluejays by a 81-70 final count during Week 7 action. Pollsters and bookmakers have caught on as Oklahoma (11-1) cracked the Top 25 and they were double-digit chalk against Northwestern in their last match. While we don’t suggest buying the Sooners +20000 price at Bet365, it will be interesting to see how Oklahoma fairs when they visit #5 Kansas during their first contest after the Holiday break on January 2, 2019.
Readers are reminded that our picks are posted in the intro of this March Madness futures feature every week. If a single bet has not been posted, as noted at the top of this page, we are still researching what is always a busy NCAAB weekly slate. Along with great hoops wagering, it is a wonderful time of the year as NFL and NCAA football betting boards are loaded with tons of options. We cover the National Championship and Super Bowl with weekly updates and both Championships are featured at top online sportsbooks.

18/12/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 7
Opening with bang, the 18/12/18 slate features 53 games, welcome to Week 7 March Madness 2019 Championship chase. Matches involving Top 25 teams have already tipped off as #2 Duke is pummelling Princeton at Cameron Indoor Stadium and Youngstown State Penguins are facing #15 Ohio State Buckeyes. Starting at 8:00 PM ET, #1 Kansas hosts South Dakota and possible bracket-buster #14 Buffalo visits a stumbling Syracuse squad. Top ranked online sportsbooks cover all of the Week 7 opening night betting odds action.
“Week 7 NCAA hoops betting opens with seven AP Top 25 teams in action”
Continuing an evening that projects to have several home side blowouts, #8, Gonzaga, #20 Marquette and #23 Iowa host UT Arlington, North Dakota and Western Carolina respectively. Another 9:00 PM ET start that caught our eye is Oklahoma (9-1) vs Creighton (7-3) as a pair of “bubble teams” battle at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK. The Bluejays have already faced three Top 25 teams, going 1-2, while the fast paced Sooners lone loss was to #25 Wisconsin. Back Oklahoma -6 (-120) to make a statement here.
Week 7 Free Pick Result: Oklahoma Sooners 81-70 over Creighton Bluejays = ATS Win
Maintaining thee top two AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll rankings, Kansas (9-0) and Duke (9-1) remain well apart on March Madness futures betting boards. Continuing to tune-up, prior to Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play beginning on January 5, 2019, the Blue Devils have rolled through two Ivy League schools as they crushed Yale (91-58) to close out Week 5 and Princeton (101-50) to open Week 7. A test from a rock solid #12 Texas Tech, on 20/12/18, is the Blue Devils final challenge before the Christmas holiday break.
“Duke Blue Devils continue as undisputed overall March Madness chalk”
Posted against inferior squads, Duke has won five straight by an average 96-56 final score. Not playing down to their competition, something a team of young but fabulous freshmen is susceptible to, bookmakers are impressed as the Blue Devils +250 best value continues to fall at Bet365. Surprised they didn’t leak more value, Kansas (+950) is the only other team with a triple-digit National Championship price. The Jayhawks dealt Villanova their fourth loss a 74-71 home win, to close out their Week 6 slate.
Kansas is showing some grit, as their nine wins were by nine points or less and two went into OT. Facing tough foes, the Jayhawks defeated Michigan State, Marquette and Tennessee who are all currently ranked in the AP top 25. Starting vs South Dakota tonight, the Jayhawks will work on their knock out punch prior to their post Christmas Big 12 schedule kicks in. Perhaps looking ahead, Arizona State fell into a Sandwich Game trap as they lost 81-65 to unranked Vanderbilt ahead of their 22/12/18 battle vs Kansas.
“Kansas faces Sandwich Game trapped #12 Arizona State on 22/12/18”
One of the most balanced teams in US College basketball, Michigan lost a little over one-third of their NCAAB title line value (+1600 to +1000) at Bodog. Moving up a spot, to #4 in the polls, the Wolverines (11-0) have a 73-46 crushing of then # 8 Villanova, plus back-to-back wins over #11 North Carolina and #19 Purdue on their early season resume. SportsInteraction bookmakers oddly raised the Michigan line as they are offering a +2000 best value. The Wolverines face a Top 25 heavy Big Ten slate during most of January.
Virginia Nevada and Auburn all moved up one slot as Gonzaga fell to #8 in the AP Top 25 #9 in the Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs lost 73-70 vs Tennessee at home and were down 53-39 at halftime during a 103-90 loss to North Carolina. Gonzaga remains a second tier favorite contender with a consensus +1000 money line. #5 Virginia (9-0) have been kind to bettors as the Cavaliers are 6-3 against the spread this season. Nevada (11-0) joins Michigan with the most wins and the Wolf Pack are a sparkling 7-3-1 against the number.

11/12/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 6
Similar to future NBA stars R.J. Barrett and Zion Williams running the floor for Duke, the 2018-19 NCAA Basketball season is moving along at a fast break pace as Week 6 closes out the first third of the schedule. Despite just two games featuring Top 25 teams – National Championship rankings were shaken up considerably once the dust settled on Week 5 action. Largely unfazed, top ranked NCAAB online sportsbooks made some minor adjustments to their March Madness futures lines as we hit the 1/3 mile pole marker.
“Gonzaga #1 Top 25 ranking is short lived after a tussle with Tennessee”
Holding the #1 NCAAB ranking for two straight weeks, their first since 30/01/17 when they were 22-0 during the 2016-17 season, Gonzaga took a tumble. Playing in one of two Week 5 Top 25 matches, the Bulldogs lost 76-73 to #7 ranked Tennessee on their home court in Spokane, WA. A week after receiving 43 of the 65 first places votes, Gonzaga (9-1) received one this week and fell to #4 in the AP Top 25 rankings. Their Coaches Poll drop (1st to 6th) was slightly more and Bodog bumped up (+700 to +800) the Bulldogs title price.
Preseason #1 Kansas regained the top perch as the Jayhawks earned 57 first place votes. Near consensus, amongst the 65-person Associated Press media panel, that surpasses the previous high 53 votes garnered by Duke in Week 3. Kansas also earned 26 of the 32 first place votes in the Coaches Poll – which is voted on by one coach from the 32 Division 1 Conferences. The ranking jump comes despite a narrow 63-60 win at home vs New Mexico State who were -15 point pups. Bodog held the Jayhawks (+1000) steady as third favorite.
“Kansas (57) and Duke (4) earned all but four AP Top 25 first place votes”
March Madness chalk, at 15 online sportsbooks we follow, Duke moved up one spot as the Blue Devils sit #2 behind Kansas. Since their 89-87 loss, in Hawaii to Gonzaga, Duke has rolled during four creampuff contests at home defeating Indiana, Stetson, Hartford and Yale by a 95-58 average final score. The Blue Devils (9-1) are on a ten-day break as they next host Providence on 18/12/18 prior to a test from Texas Tech. Currently ranked #11; the Red Raiders visit Cameron Indoor Stadium on 20/18/18 during Week 7 action.
Thanks to their 76-73 road win over Gonzaga, a close contest start to finish, Tennessee jumped from #7 to #3 in the AP Top 25 rankings. With an 87-81 OT loss to then #2 Kansas as a lone blemish, the Volunteers own a 7-1 record. Scoring 82.8 PPG, while giving up just 64.8 PPG, the Vols are playing well at both ends of the floor. Bookies aren’t impressed, as the Vols best title price is +3300 at Betway. Tennessee now plays 16 unranked opponents prior to visiting Kentucky to battle a sinking #19 Wildcats Crew on 16/02/19.
“Lights out on defense – Michigan remains a top March Madness contender”
Michigan was the lone squad to maintain their ranking as the Wolverines (10-0) round out the top five in both polls. The Maize and Blue continue to lean on defense, which has stifled opponents by allowing just 55.2 points per game. Following a closer than expected 89-78 home win vs unranked South Carolina, as -17 point chalk, Michigan doesn’t play again until Week 7. Sporting a +2000 best value at Betway, three of four top CSB bookmakers lowered the Wolverines 2019 March Madness Championship price.
Week 6 NCAA Basketball Schedule is Light On Top 25 Contests
While the US College Fall semester is drawing to close, at many schools, NCAAB hoops action doesn’t slow much as there are 220 matches scheduled over seven days. Week 6 is light on big games as #17 Villanova at #1 Kansas and #4 Gonzaga at #12 North Carolina are the only Top 25 contests. Both battles are part of the Saturday slate on 15/12/18 the features 91 games. Prior to their showdown with the Jayhawks, Villanova visits Pennsylvania as the Wildcats and Quakers meet in a classic “Philadelphia Big 5” fight.
Reigning Ivy League Champion Pennsylvania is looking for a second straight March Madness berth after a decade long absence from the tournament. The Quakers have rolled out to 8-2 start and many are pointing to their 89-75 win over Miami as a warning shot. However, the Hurricanes have lost four straight and that was the first Power Five win Penn registered since they defeated USC way back on January 11, 2003. We are backing the Wildcats -6 (-140) to top the Quakers on the road at legendary Palestra Stadium in PA.
Week 6 Free Pick Result: Pennsylvania Quakers 78-75 over Villanova Wildcats = ATS Loss

03/12/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 5
Cruising along, Week 5 of the NCAA basketball season has arrived. Previous week action, though a little light on big name vs big name contests, did have some rather intriguing results. While the Week 4 matches didn’t have a huge affect on the rankings or futures odds, a few top rated teams struggled, some barely survived, while others crushed their competition in battles that don’t seem fair. Let’s take a look at the week that was, the latest March Madness futures, plus the hoops action ahead.
“Duke remains March Madness chalk with a +300 best price at Bet365”
Week 4 opened with cashing our first free pick of the year as #3 Duke rolled over unranked Indiana 90-69 and covered as -14 home chalk. Things got even easier for the Blue Devils (7-1) as their two-game slate closed with a 113-49 smothering of Stetson University. For the #343 ranked Hatters, who are 1-8 and last in the Atlantic Sun Division, that will be the only Top 25 game they play this season. It’s a light week ahead for Duke with home games against #256 Hartford and #121 Yale.
Gonzaga retained the top perch in the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs blasted #199 North Dakota State 102-60 but were down 48-41 at halftime on the road vs #40 Creighton before blowing past the Bluejays 103-92. Gonzaga (8-0) is second chalk with a +750 National Championship price at Bodog. Third betting favorite, and #3 in the polls, Kansas (+1000) won their lone contest last week though the 6-0 Jayhawks did need OT to put away #97 Stanford 90-84 at home.
“Prior to a five-day break Gonzaga faces #7 Tennessee on 09/12/18”
Virginia lost almost 1/3 of their value as Bodog bookmakers dropped them from +1700 to +1200. Fresh off a win over #22 Wisconsin, the #4 Cavaliers (8-0) went on the road and marched past #24 Maryland 76-71 in College Park. The Cavs next Top 25 match isn’t until 05/01/01 when host poll climbing Florida State. Jumping up two spots, #5 Michigan (+2500 to +1400) took the biggest price hit of the week. Lopsided wins over #11 North Carolina and #19 Purdue has the Wolverines (8-0) running hot.
Dropping one spot, #6 Nevada (+1400) is tied as fifth chalk with the Maize & Blue as their line held steady at Bet365. The Wolf Pack (8-0) avenged their 2018 Sweet 16 loss to Loyola-Chicago as they roughed up the Ramblers 79-65 last Tuesday. After losing to Kansas and Duke respectively, #7 Tennessee and #8 Auburn both bounced back with two straight wins. The Volunteers next big duel is 09/12/18 when they host Gonzaga while the Tigers next test isn’t until 19/01/19 when Kentucky comes calling.
“After falling to Duke – Kentucky is rolling during a schedule soft spot”
Swapping the final two AP Top Ten rankings, #9 Kentucky jumped over #10 Michigan State who has shuffled between the nine and eleven spot regularly through the first four weeks. After their Opening Night loss to Duke, the Wildcats (7-1) have won seven straight during a creampuff run that has resulted in a 591-440 combined final count. The Spartans (7-2) suffered their second loss, 82-78 to #41 Louisville, but stormed back with a 90-68 home win vs #18 Iowa to somehow stay in the Top Ten.
NCAAB Week 5 Look Ahead At Big Game Betting Action
Week 5 hoops action is underway and it’s nice to get off to a fast start. We backed high-flying Oklahoma, in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, and the Sooners defeated Notre Dame 85-80 as slim 1.5 point chalk. Top Ten teams, #5 Michigan and #8 Auburn, also opened their week with wins as the Wolverines defeated Northwestern (62-60) and the Tigers trounced UNC Asheville 67-41. The Wildcats upset the Wolverines 61-52 last season so that’s a big road win for Michigan.
Earning a Top 25 spot, a first in their 98-year NCAAB history, #25 Furman backed up their ranking with a 98-77 drubbing of Elon Phoenix. Aiming for their first ever March Madness berth, the Paladins (9-0) have taken down 2018 defending Champion #8 Villanova and Loyola-Chicago who advanced to the Final Four back in March. Looking ahead, #6 Nevada hosting #20 Arizona State (07/12/18) and #7 Tennessee vs #1 Gonzaga (09/12/18) are the only Top 25 battles on the Week 5 slate.
Bettors believing Gonzaga will shed their “always a bridesmaid, never a bride” mantra are advised to jump on the Bulldogs current 2019 March Madness price. Gonzaga has crushed their opponents by a 98-76 average final score and their +700 title line at Bet365 will surely sink if the Bulldogs vanquish the Volunteers during the Jerry Colangelo Classic in Phoenix, AZ. From our perspective, we are invested in Duke and Kansas as National Champs so we are holding firm on our futures bets at this time.

27/11/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 4
Welcome to Week 4 of the race to March Madness. Here we review the week that was and what lies ahead on the NCAA hoops schedule. Thanksgiving in America is a fantastic time of the year for sports fans. Bettors are treated to a buffet of NCAA and NFL football action, the CFL Grey Cup Championship, plus a variety of US College basketball mini tournaments. One of the bigger events is the Maui Invitational, sponsored by Maui Jim sunglasses, which kicks off the Hoops Holiday Season in high-flying style.
Inaugurated in 1984, NBA stars like James Harden and Russell Westbrook are two of 145 Maui participants to get selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. That’s a round about way of getting to #3 Gonzaga (7-0) taking out #1 Duke (5-1) in the 2018 Championship match on 21/11/18. The Blue Devils were -7 ATS chalk vs the Bulldogs who jumped out to a 47-39 halftime lead and hung on for a 89-87 win. Duke had never lost in Maui, reaching 19-0, and they won the title the previous four times they participated.
“Gonzaga Bulldogs show early season metal – Defeat #1 Duke Blue Devils”
That shock up the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll as Gonzaga jumped onto the top perch, Kansas retained the second slot and Duke dropped to third. At first glance, the impact doesn’t appear huge at online sportsbooks but many teams inched closer to top chalk Duke. Heading into Week 3, the Blue Devils gap was +250 to +1100 on Kansas and Gonzaga was +1300 at Bet365. Rolling into Week 4, Duke’s price is pumped up slightly to +300 while the Jayhawks (5-0) and Bulldogs are tied at +800 as second favorites.
Ranked fourth in both polls, Virginia (6-0) hasn’t impressed the bookmakers much as Bodog and Betway raised their line while Bet365 held them steady. Those moves are strange as the Cavaliers cruised past #22 Wisconsin 53-46 to win the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship at Paradise Island, Bahamas. Nevada jumped from sixth to fifth as the Wolf Pack won their bracket in the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament with a 110-87 mashing of the UMass Minutemen. Nevada is 6-0 with a 90-71 average game score.
“Virginia Cavaliers continue to move past 2018 March Madness meltdown”
Tennessee slipped from fifth to sixth as the Volunteers lost 87-81 in OT to #2 Kansas in the NIT Season Tip-Off title game. The Vols strong showing led to slight price reduction (+3500 to +3300) at Bodog and Bet365. Michigan (6-0) moved from ninth to seventh in the AP rankings as the Wolverines defense continues to sparkle. Maize and Blue fans hope solid D pays off better for the NCAAB squad than if did for their football team who had their NCAAF Playoff dreams trampled on during a 62-39 loss to Ohio State.
Auburn and Kentucky held their positions in eighth and tenth as the Tigers (5-1) remained in the top ten despite a 78-72 loss to Duke in Hawaii. Though not against the cream of the crop, the Wildcats (5-1) have won five straight since their 118-84 season opening loss to the Blue Devils. Two Weeks after dropping out of the top ten, Michigan State (5-1) slides back in at the eight spot. The Spartans were impressive during a 78-68 win over #17 Texas in the other half of the Orleans Casino Invitational in Sin City.
Top Ten NCAA Basketball Squads Hit A Soft Schedule Spot During Week 4
Apart from #6 Virginia facing #24 Maryland, #7 Michigan duelling #11 North Carolina and #19 Purdue, plus Michigan State meeting #14 Iowa, the top ten contenders all face unranked teams during Week 4 action. Nevada can extract a measure of revenge, against Loyola-Chicago, on 27/11/18, as they battle for the Ramblers for first time since they punted the Wild Cats during 2018 Sweet Sixteen. Top online bookmakers offer US College hoops LIVE 24/7 everyday during the race to the 2019 NCAAB Championship.
Indiana is sure to feel the wrath of Duke as the Hoosiers will face a rested Blue Devils squad that is back on the US mainland after losing to Gonzaga. That match is at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina on 27/11/18 at 9:30 PM ET. After scoring in the 70’s during a three game winning streak, we can’t see Indiana staying close to Duke who is -14 (-110) chalk at Betway. That is one of the better wagers on Week 4 betting boards and we’ll take advantage of it by backing the Blue Devils.
Week 4 Free Pick Result: Duke Blue Devils 90-69 over Indiana Hoosiers = ATS Win

Week 4 Odds Table Team Placement: From AP Top 25 with previous week rank preceding team name. Week 4 USA Today Coaches Poll in brackets. New IN: Michigan State is up from #11 New OUT: North Carolina, drops from #10 to #11 due to a 92-89 loss to Texas.
20/11/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 3
US College Basketball continues on a march towards Madness as two weeks are now in the books. Playing in the Maui Jim Invitational tournament, as we are updating the NCAAB futures odds, Duke is out to a 4-0 start and they have pounded their opponents by a combined 386-266 final count. While the Blue Devils have a wealth of scoring prowess – they can also defend. We would not be surprised if the 84 points they allowed during their season opening win over Kentucky ends up as a season high points allowed.
“#1 Duke vs #8 Auburn in Maui on 20/11/18 is the Blue Devils next big test”
Kansas retains the #2 AP slot, as the Jayhawks are 3-0 with wins over #10 Michigan State, Vermont and Louisiana by a fairly slim 265-231 margin. The dynamic duo of Dedric Lawson and Lagerald Vick poured in a combined 52 points during the Jayhawks 89-76 win over the Ragin’ Cajuns. Next up for Kansas, who are hitting an amazing 47 percent of their 3-point shots, is a match vs Marquette in the NIT Season Tip-Off tournament on 21/11/18 at Madison Square Garden. The Golden Eagles fell out of the Top 25 but will still be a test.
“Highly anticipated Week 3 battle = Gonzaga vs Duke Maui Invitational”
On a collision course with Duke, as finalists in the Maui Invitational, #3 Gonzaga has been a scoring machine during their 4-0 start to the 2018-19 NCAA hoops season. The Bulldogs have routed their opponents by a 402-295 margin – though their 84-78 win over Illinois was closer than the -15 ATS price at Bodog indicated it would be. If Gonzaga defeats Arizona (4-0) in Hawaii, they will face the winner of the Auburn vs Duke duel in the Maui Tournament Championship game on November 21, 2018. That’s early season pressure.
“Virginia retains #4 ranking on both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Polls”
Looking like they’ve put their 2018 March Madness embarrassment behind them, the Cavaliers were the first #1 seed to lose to a #16 seed, Virginia keeps the #4 AP ranking. Though not against NCAAB powerhouse squads, the Cavs didn’t allowed over 57 points during their 3-0 start. Virginia has a fairly easy run to close out the 2018 portion of their slate but a January 5-19 stretch against #14 Florida State, #16 Clemson, #13 Virginia Tech, plus #1 Duke, will give bettors a full sense of where the Cavaliers are at.
“Tennessee continues to build on their solid 13-3 late season 2017 run”
Entering the AP Top 25 poll during Week 5 last season, Tennessee closed the year as #13 overall. One of four teams to loss to Loyola-Chicago during the Ramblers 2018 Cinderella March Madness run, the Volunteers are out to a 3-0 start. One indicator of the Vols level of play is their 87-65 win over Louisiana. As mentioned above, Kansas snuck past the Ragin’ Cajuns by an 89-76 score. If the Jayhawks defeat Marquette, and the Vols roll Louisville, the Kansas vs Tennessee NIT Tip-Off Championship game will be a hotly contested beauty.
Defending Champ Villanova: First Top Ten Contender to Fall Flat
Week 2 saw our first major school crash and burn as Villanova fell out of the AP Top 25 rankings for the first time since December 2013. The Wildcats had a nightmare style week as they were mashed by then #18 Michigan (73-46) before falling 76-68 in overtime to unranked Furman. The defending NCAAB Champs had not lost two straight at home since dropping contests to Alabama and Columbia exactly six years ago. According to our stats, this is the first time a National Champion started 2-2 since UCLA back in 1995.
“Furman has beat 2018 Final Four squads Villanova and Loyola-Chicago”
Overall, on NCAAB National Championship futures boards recommended here at Canada Sports Betting, #1 Duke dropped to a season low +200 at Bodog but can be purchased at +250 at Bet365 and Betway. #2 Kansas and #3 Gonzaga both had their lines pumped up to a +1300 best value at SportsInteraction who are also offering a +1900 best line on #4 Virginia. Not receiving a whole lot of respect, Bodog caught up to SIA and Bet365 with their +3500 title odds on #5 Tennessee. Duke continues as the cream of the NCAAB crop.
Week 3 2018-19 NCAA Men’s Basketball Poll Rankings @ 1:00 AM ET 20/11/18
Week 3 Odds Table Team Placement: From AP Top 25 with previous week rank preceding team name. Week 3 USA Today Coaches Poll in brackets. New IN: Michigan moves up from #11 New OUT: Now a sleeping Giant, Villanova (2-2) dropped off the Top 25 board.
13/11/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 2
One week closer to the Madness of March, welcome to Week 2 of the 2018-19 NCAA Basketball season. Unlike US College football, that takes a while to get to the “good” games, the race to the National Championship opened with bang as two monumental clashes were on the slate during Opening Night action. The Champions Classic got things rolling as #1 Kansas battled #10 Michigan and #2 Kentucky duelled with #4 Duke. If those contests were a harbinger of things to come, our active futures bets are solid.
Opening with a splash, the race to the NCAA College Basketball March Madness is off and running. As our current Top 25 ranking list illustrates, some teams moved up the board, others saw their fortunes fall, while one squad remained steady. Moving forward, we will discuss the most recent March Madness odds, review a couple of key game during the previous week, plus look forward to big matchups in the coming week. NCAAB futures lines are LIVE 24/7 at top rated online sportsbooks in the table below.
Duke Blue Devils earn top spot on AP Poll and NCAAB futures boards
After beginning the season tied atop the Bodog futures board with Kentucky, though ranked just #4 in the AP Top 25 poll, Duke cleared everyone well away from the top perch as the Blue Devils are now #1 overall in the polls and their top chalk price took a hit (+500 to +300) at Bodog. A long season remains ahead but Kentucky is the first major contender to taker a hit. The Wildcats were whacked by Duke and fell from #2 to #10 in the rankings and Bodog bumped up their price (+500 to +700) slightly.
Kansas was knocked from the top AP Top 25 perch, but the #2 Jayhawks title line fell by a Benjamin (+950 to +850) at Bodog. While #24 Marquette will be a test, on 21/11/18, a duel with #8 Villanova at home on 15/12/18 is a huge contest as it will be the Jayhawks only match against a current elite eight opponent. Gonzaga is now #3 after crushing two non-contenders, Idaho State (120-79) and Texas Southern (104-67) but that didn’t impress the books as the Bulldogs line (+850 to +1200) inflated.
Moving up one spot, #4 Virginia saw their NCAAB Championship odds move the opposite way as the Cavaliers (+1800 to +1200) lost one third of their value. Virginia has lots of time to tune up prior to their January 19, 2019, ACC duel with Duke. Tennessee, despite a gaudy (+3000) title price at Bodog, also jumped one position as the #5 ranked Volunteers round out the AP top five. Both projected to be placed in the West Region March Madness bracket, Gonzaga @ Tennessee on 09/12/18 will be a huge battle.
AP Top 10 Week 1 Games Help Clarify USA College Hoops Rankings
“Kansas Jayhawks hold off late charge by Michigan State Spartans”
Playing in their first games for Kansas, freshman Quentin Grimes and Memphis transfer Dedric Lawson put up 21 and 20 points as the Jayhawks opened their slate with a 92-87 win. Kansas outscored Michigan State 50-36 in the first half before easing up some as the Spartans “won” the second frame by a 51-42 count. In addition to his 20 points, Lawson also pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, while returning JR Center Udoka Azubuike added 17 points. Kansas then moved to 2-0 with an 84-68 win over Vermont.
“Duke Blue Devils embarrass then #2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats”
Enjoying their own coming-out party, Duke demolished Kentucky as the Blue Devils rolled to a 118-84 season opening victory. Trusting they would perform as advertised, when we picked Duke to win the NCAAB National Championship back on 14/05/18, Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett did not disappoint. Mere months out of high school, the fantastic freshman shined bright on the big stage as Made in Canada star Barrett scored 33 points and Williamson added 28. The win moved Duke to the top of the rankings.
2018-19 NCAAB Week 2 Online Big Game Betting Options
Both lightly tested during their first two games, #8 Villanova hosts #18 Michigan on Wednesday 14/11/18. The Wildcats mashed Morgan State (100-77) and Quonnipac (86-53) while the Wolverines stout defense easily stifled Norfolk State (63-44) and Holy Cross (56-37). In order to take down Villanova, at Finneran Pavilion, Michigan needs to find some offense. Somewhat surprising, that is the only matchup that features Top 25 teams during the Week 2 NCAA basketball schedule. Week 3 Holiday Hoops will heat things up.
From a futures perspective, top chalk Duke and Kansas will be on opposite sides once the March Madness brackets are filled out on March 17, 2019. Both projected as #1 seeds, we can’t see the Blue Devils or Jayhawks faltering much during the regular season. If you like either team (what’s not to like eh) we suggest bettors should buy their tickets now. With key players returning after their 2018 Sweet Sixteen run, plus the addition of All American Jordan Brown, Nevada is a dog with a shot at the National Championship.

05/11/18 NCAAB Championship Futures Week 1
Welcome to the 2018-19 NCAA basketball season as the race to the NCAAB National Championship opens with a slew of 147 games featuring 294 of the 353 USA Division I Men’s basketball programs. From the Oregon Ducks in the Northwest, to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in the Southwest, over to the Miami Hurricanes in the Southeast, and up to the UMass-Lowell River Hawks in the Northeast, hope springs eternal across America. Let the games begin as the battle for 68 March Madness berths begins on 06/11/18.
“Duke Blue Devils Open As Top Overall Poll Ranking Favorite”
Despite ranking fourth in the AP Top 25, and third in the USA Today Coaches Poll, Duke heads into the new season as top National Championship chalk at top ranked basketball betting sites. The Blue Devils lost their entire 2017 starting roster but they always reload in Durham and Duke will be led by stars in the making in freshmen R.J. Barrett and Zion Williamson. The supporting cast, including Cam Reddish and Tre Jones, is also loaded with youngsters who will be in guided by legendary HC Mike Krzyzewski.
“Kentucky Wildcats Aim For First Championship Since 2012”
Entering his tenth season, HC John Calipari led Kentucky to the 2012 NCAAB Championship and to a different top tournament level in each of the past five seasons. The Wildcats were runner-up in 2014, made the Final Four in 2015, the Round of 32 in 2016, the Elite Eight in 2017 and the Sweet Sixteen level last season. We get a look at where the Blue Devils and Wildcats are at as they clash on Opening Night (9:30 PM ET) in the four-team Champions Classic series that also features Michigan State and Kansas.
“Nevada Wolf Pack Place Higher On Futures Boards Than Poll Rankings”
Ranking seventh in the AP Top 25, and ninth in the USA Today Coaches poll, Nevada enters the 2018-19 NCAA basketball season as third favorites to cut down the nets at the end of March Madness on April 9, 2019. Sporting their highest preseason ranking in school history, with 29-8 and 28-7 records, the Wolf Pack qualified for March Madness during the past two seasons. Nevada made a first round exit in 2017 and lost to tournament darling Loyola-Chicago during the South Regional Semifinal Sweet 16 round in 2018.
“Gonzaga Attempt To Shed Always a Bridesmaid Never A Bride Mantra”
Aiming for their 21st straight March Madness berth, 20th with HC Mark Few, Gonzaga looks to play in the NCAAB Championship game for the second time in three years. Killian Tillie (ankle) may miss eight weeks, but Josh Perkins, Zach Norvell, Rui Hachimura, plus the additions of Brandon Clarke and Geno Crandall, may make the Bulldogs 2018-19 squad better than the team that lost 71-65 to North Carolina during the 2017 Duel in the Desert. The Bulldogs four straight Sweet 16 appearances is the longest streak of any team.
“Kansas Jayhawks Look to Get Over The Hump With Experienced Squad”
Led by HC Bill Self, now in his 16th season as the Jayhawks bench-boss, Kansas has rolled into March Madness as a #1 or #2 seed over the past nine years. Based on preseason polls, make it a decade as the Jayhawks are ranked #1 in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls. There is a lot to like in Kansas as returning stars Lagerald Vick and Udoka Azubuike, the arrivals of Dedric and KJ. Lawson (Memphis) and Charlie Moore (Cal), plus rising stars Quentin Grimes and Devon Dotson, justifies the Jayhawks owning the top perch.
Bodog Next Level Lines Rise Steadily After Top Five
Prices jump after the top five, as North Carolina is sixth favorite at Bodog with a +1500 money line. Defending Champion Villanova, who are in a mild team reloading state, are right behind the Tar Heels with +1600 odds. Virginia, who became the first #1 seed to lose to a #16 squad, over 136 first round March Madness matches, rounds out the current Elite Eight with a +1800 title price. Tennessee (+2800) plus Michigan Sate, Michigan and Oregon, all tagged with a lofty +3300 National Championship line, round out the top contenders.

14/05/18 NCAA March Madness Opening Odds
Congratulations to the Villanova Wildcats who crushed the Michigan Wolverines 79-62 to claim the 2018 NCAAB National Championship. Following a thrilling ride, during the 2018 NCAA Basketball March Madness tournament, Bodog bookmakers have posted prices for the 2019 NCAAB Championship. Always reloading, rather than rebuilding, Duke is listed as top chalk to cut down the nets. There is plenty to like in Durham, North Carolina, as the Blue Devils 2018 recruiting class is being compared to Michigan’s 1991 “Fab Five” recruits.
Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard and Ray Jackson, were the NCAAB Championship Final runner-up to Duke in 1992. The Blue Devils signed R.J. Barrett, Zion Williamson and Tre Jones (top three recruits at small forward, power forward and point guard) plus #2 SF Cameron Reddish and 5-Star SF Joey Baker. Barrett, who some say is the next LeBron James, is the son of Rowan Barrett who played on Canada’s National Team in the FIBA WC (1998 & 2002) and 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
That is an embarrassment of riches and, on paper, the Blue Devils (+500) are full marks for their top billing on the Bodog sportsbook NCAAB futures board. That’s a familiar theme as Kentucky, UCLA, Oregon and Kansas also got richer with top recruits. Villanova (+800) who will lose National Player of the Year G Jalen Brunson and Third Team All American G Mikal Bridges in the 2018 NBA Draft, are listed as second chalk. The Champs may also lose Donte DiVincenzo and Omari Spellman who have entered the NBA Draft Combine.

2019 March Madness Preseason Call: Duke (+500) Money Line 4-Units @ Bodog.

2018-19 NCAAB National Championship Game Day Update
Then there were two. Following three weeks of fantastic March Madness hoops action, that began with 68 teams in the chase, Michigan and Villanova are the last two remaining squads. Game day prices are now the NCAAB National Championship futures odds and the Wildcats are thick chalk over the Wolverines at the Bet365 online sportsbook. After our top choices were bounced in the first two rounds, we picked up Villanova prior to the Round of 32 and Michigan prior to the Elite Eight. While we were a little late to the party – we are fortunate that we made those two wagers.
Currently facing a bankroll hit, we are in better shape than when we were down -700 units after Michigan State and Arizona were sent packing early in the tournament. Right now, we have 1300 units invested and a Wildcats win would return +900 (-200 net) while a Wolverines victory returns +1100 and we will break even. Unfortunately for us, we feel the former is more likely as Villanova has been punishing their opponents with a 85-67 average final score. Michigan’s best shot at cutting down the nets is their defence which is allowing a tournament low 58.6 points per game.
Bottom Line: Disappointed our three sport (CFL, NCAAF, NFL) futures win streak is in jeopardy – there isn’t much we can do about it at this point. Our best hope is the Wolverines defence stepping up to get us out of the Madness with a zero bankroll hit. Still 32 hours or so from tipoff – we are going to sit tight for now. If we wager – we will update this space on 02/04/18.
31/03/18 Final Four March Madness Update
Game Day Update: Prices to win the NCAA Basketball National Championship haven’t changed much since our last update on 26/03/18. Villanova remains as top chalk, without a price change, while Michigan (+260 to +250) and Kansas (+375 to +350) lost some value. Cinderella Loyola-Chicago also stayed steady prior to their meeting with the Wolverines. We are calling for a Michigan vs Villanova Championship contest. Top rated CSB bookmakers have the Final Four covered with tons of exciting betting options. Hoop it up anytime!
NCAAB National Championship hopefuls have been reduced from 68 to 4 as the March Madness rolls into the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Final Four are penciled in with #3 Michigan facing #11 Loyola- Chicago at 6:09 PM ET and then #1 Villanova clashing with #1 Kansas at 8:49 PM ET on March 31, 2018. We will be watching the lines and will update them when necessary. This is the last chance to get in on the best March Madness prices.
Blowing everyone out, the Wildcats look fantastic, the Wolverines and Jayhawks are both playing solid ball and the Ramblers continue to defy the odds. We still like Villanova but if anything changes we will update it here. Don’t forget, top online sportsbooks cover March Madness and sports of sorts around the clock. Registration is always free and quick – so get into the game. No matter the sport, CSB recommended bookmakers cover the action 24/7.
24/03/18 Elite Eight March Madness Update
Wow. How many have started into an Elite Eight bracket sheet pool? Despite a lot of twist and turns, East #1 Villanova, plus #1 Kansas and #2 Duke in the Midwest are still alive as top seeds. Michigan in the West and Texas Tech in the East are representing the #3 ranked schools. Florida Sate and Kansas Sate are wearing #9 tags while Loyola-Chicago in the South are proud #11 Darkshirts. We are pleased that we have a two in eight shot at covering our early-tournament trashed tickets. Has the Madness settled – or is more to follow?
Villanova (+350 to +180) has leap over Duke (+300 to N/C) at the top of our futures board. Kansas (+650 to +500) and Michigan (+700 to +550) round out the top four. With the Wildcats, Blue Devils and Jayhawks all being on the right side – we are surprised they are posted as top three chalk. We stand to earn a break even with Villanova and a 300-unit profit with Duke. Liking what we see at both ends of the floor – we are adding Michigan as a left-side squad. Semifinal action is always ramped up some – Enjoy the Elite Eight action!
ADD: Michigan Wolverines (+550) NCAAB Champs 2-Units @ Bet365 Sportsbook.
SportsInteraction NCAA Championship Each Way Betting
SportsInteraction have released their “Each Way Odds” which are akin to alternate title odds. Select a squad that advances to the Championship contest on April 2, 2018, and get paid at the price(s) noted. This is two wagers so work your Madness Money accordingly.
20/03/18 Sweet 16 March Madness Update
All you slackers, who spent the last week surveying your brackets, can go back work now. A flurry of upsets, during the first two rounds of March Madness, busted up most brackets as we head into Sweet 16 action. Rolling into the Regional semifinal matches, top squads like defending NCAAB National Champion North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan State, Cincinnati and Arizona have all been unceremoniously ushered to their respective (long) off-season’s.
While we still have a long road back, we feel fortunate that we bet Duke and Villanova when we did as both squads had their prices deflated. The Blue Devils line was cut in half (+600 to +300) while the Wildcats value shrank (+450 to +350) slightly. Suddenly the “Belle of the Ball” Kentucky saw their odds fall from +1400 to +500 as the Wildcats appear to have an “easy” path to the Final Four. Watch for our Sweet 16 tips and selections later in the week.
17/03/18 Second Round March Madness Update
OK…. So that was not good eh? It could have been worse, had we been on #1 Virginia, but Arizona getting bashed 89-68 by #13 Buffalo was a bad thing. We apologize for our call on the desert Wildcats as we should have heeded our own advice (01/03/18) after #4 Arizona suffered three losses that were all against unranked teams. We got a little high on ‘Zona Big Man Deandre Ayton and his late season domination. We move on from our two burnt units.
With the biggest test still one round away – our glass half-full scenario is #3 Michigan State sneaking past #14 Bucknell 82-78. The Spartans were a dismal 5-17 (29.4%) from beyond the arc versus the Bison and they will need to better to get past #11 Syracuse. Manage that hurdle and a date with #2 Duke seems inevitable. We are big Rhode Island fans in their duel with the Blue Devils on 17/03 though the Rams are -9 (-110) pups at SportsInteraction.
Round Of 32 Investments: Villanova (+450) and Duke (+600) 2-Units each @ SIA.
12/03/18 Pre March Madness Odds Update
March Madness brackets have been set and the NCAA Basketball National Championship futures prices have been shaken up considerably. Villanova, Virginia and Duke head into the tournament tied as top chalk with a +501 money line price at SportsInteraction. The Wildcats and Cavaliers are #1 seeds in the South and East while the Blue Devils are the #2 seed in the Midwest Region. Kansas (+1200) and Xavier (+1500) are the top seeds in the Midwest and West so it is slightly surprising that they are 8th and 12th chalk respectively.
After losing to Michigan, in the Big Ten tournament semi-finals, Michigan State was knocked off the top perch as their price inflated from +450 to +800. The Spartans must feel a little slighted as they have been tagged with a #3 seed in the Midwest. The Spartans are the first team in a decade to not receive a #1 or #2 seed in the tournament after finishing with an NCAAB top four “Strength of Record”. The Wolverines, slotted as the #3 seed in the West, had a major price adjustment as they dropped from +4000 to +1000 at SportsInteraction.
Although we wish would have waited to jump on the Spartans, given where landed in the brackets and their substantial line increase, we are still OK with that pick. Plus, if things look like they are going south – we should be able to hedge off that wager as the tourney progresses. Looking beyond the chalk – not many teams are hotter than Arizona (+1200) as the Wildcats have won five straight by a combined 374-316 count. Those numbers include a 75-61 dismantling of USC in the PAC 12 Championship match. We are adding the Cats.
Pre March Madness Selection #2: Back the Arizona Wildcats (+1200) Two Units at SIA.
01/03/18 March Madness Futures Update
Can you feel that vibration? Four days remain on the US College Basketball regular season slate and then the rumbling towards madness really kicks up a few decibels. Starting March 5, we have a week of exciting playoff action prior to the NCAAB Committee will announcing the First 68 March Madness contenders on Selection Sunday, March 11, 2018. The First Four will duke it out in Dayton, Ohio to get the tournament started on March 13 & 14. Round of 64 follows quick as play begins March 15. Watch for Round-By-Round Madness tips here.
Apart from a slight Michigan State line move (+450 to +550) the top four NCAAB National Championship seeds are unchanged. Spartans HC Tom Izzo has empathically stated that the disgraceful acts of Larry Nassar will not be talked about by him, his assistant coaches, or his players moving forward. Hopefully due process has been followed and those guilty are held accountable. That is good for East Lansing and everyone involved. That said, who knew the MSU line would raise after they closed a 28-3 season on a twelve game winning streak.
Purdue (+750 to +900) had a price increase but retained the fifth seed while Kansas went from seventh to sixth with a (+1600 to +1000) money line leak. Defending Champ North Carolina lost value going from +1600 to +1200. Arizona (+1500 to +3300) had the largest gain since our 22/02/18 update as the Wildcats are 3-3 since 03/02/18 and all three losses were to unranked teams. The Cats (22-7) fell from sixth to 14th and they will be a #2 to #4 seed heading into the Dance. There are important fights on the floor prior to the Madness.
Pre Playoff Tip: Conference winning teams lose value prior to the March Madness matches.
22/02/18 March Madness Futures Update
Welcome to our initial 2018 NCAAB National Championship futures odds update. Madness is about to ensue Y’All! Nearing conclusion of the US College hoops regular season, there are ten days left on the 2017-18 slate. Following seven days of playoff action – a mystical journey into mayhem and madness begins. On Sunday, March 11, the NCAAB Selection Committee announces the 68-squad field for the 2018 March Madness tournament. First Four matches open the action in Dayton, Ohio, on March 13 & 14. Canucks – Get ready to hoop it up eh!
Whether in business, sports, or community sectors – committees often operate in mysterious ways. That is true in US College Sports as committees select the Final Four teams in football and the First 68 in basketball. While the ten members are giving their “opinion” in the end, there is protocol to follow. As with pigskin postseason seeding, regular season rankings, plus division titles won, go a long way towards deciding the National Championship contenders. Hope sprang eternal for 351 teams on 10/11/7. They’re about to drop the freight to just 68.
In a nutshell, there are three basic phases that determine the first 68 field. 1) Select the 36 best at-large teams 2) Install the rest of the 68-school field and 3) Place the squads into the most reasonable regions. It’ll be interesting to see how many current SportsInteraction top squads make the cut. Out on a not so slim limb – we’ll say all 20. Watch this space for weekly updates moving forward. There are still a ton of contests to be played, over a 17-day period, but here is our first horse in the 2018 March Madness Betting Marathon. Sooo exciting!

NCAA Basketball Future Bets Explained
Similar to NBA hoops, NCAA basketball features a strong bias towards favorites and hot regular season squads are tagged as top seeds. The vast majority of NCAA champions have been #1 seeds. Since the tournament expanded, to 64 teams in 1985, the #1 seeds have claimed 21 titles, while seeds 2-8 have won 13 National Championships. Number two seeds have won five March Madness tournaments, number three seeds have four wins, while fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth seeds have one win. #5 seeds, plus #9 and below, have never won March Madness.
Further illustrating the long road lower seeds face, teams ranked #4 or worse have earned just 36 of the 136 possible Final Four berths. While each year features incredible upsets, by the time the semi-finals arrive, the tournament often shakes off lower seeds, which don’t have the same talent level as elite colleges. When looking to place NCAA basketball future wagers, Canucks will come across a vast list of bookmakers vying for their bets. Be warned – they’re not all created equally! 2016-17 NCAAB March Madness Hoops Results
NCAAB National Champion: North Carolina Tar Heels
Ending the impressive and exciting Cinderella run by #7 seed South Carolina Gamecocks, the Gonzaga Bulldogs posted a 77-73 victory and moved on to the Finals. Though slightly less of an underdog, the #3 Oregon Ducks gave North Carolina a massive battle but the Tar Heels escaped with a 77-76 semi-final win setting the 2017 NCAAB National Championship match.
North Carolina entered the match with a 5-5 March Madness Finals record – Gonzaga was making their first appearance on College Basketball’s brightest stage. The Bulldogs hung with the more experienced Tar Heels, Gonzaga had a 36-32 lead at halftime, but North Carolina proved to be too much for the ‘Zags. In the end, making up for a 77-74 loss to Villanova last season, the Tar Heals claimed their sixth Championship with a 71-65 victory in Arizona.
NCAAB March Madness – Final Four Update
Congratulations to all (none) of you who have North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina and Gonzaga as the Final Four on your March Madness sheets. The Tar Heels are hunting for a sixth March Madness title as they head to their 20th semifinal. This is the Ducks second semifinal after Oregon won the first National Championship as the Webfoots back in 1939.
It’s welcome to the second biggest College Basketball stage for the Gamecocks and Bulldogs as they make their first Final Four appearance. SportsInteraction is foreshadowing a North Carolina (+110) vs Gonzaga (+160) NCAAB Championship Final matchup in Glendale, AZ. That certainly would not be a surprise as both squads are running super hot right now.
Finalists last year, the Tar Heels know what it takes to get the title game in Arizona on April 3, 2017. North Carolina entered the madness with a 33-7 record. Coach Mike Few & the Bulldogs Crew have outscored their opponents 289-236 during four wins. The Ducks (+400) blasted tournament favorite Kansas in Elite Eight action – jolting the Jayhawks 74-60.
Massive props to those few who picked South Carolina at (+15000) on Selection Sunday. The Gamecocks went from a +5000 Sweet 16 price to a +800 line prior to their battle versus Gonzaga. South Carolina had a solid 26-11 season but entered the tournament without a Top 25 ranking. Collect a deposit bonus and use the dough to bet on the Final Four matches.
NCAA Basketball Futures – Sweet 16 Update
Brackets busted? From Arizona to Xavier, with Bulldogs, Mountaineers and Tar Heels mixed in, the Sweet 16 is an eclectic group this year. Following a fairly “calm” Round of 64, the NCAA apple cart was upset during the Round of 32 as high seeds, like defending champ Villanova and #2 Duke, were sent packing. It’s good to have fresh faces in the late rounds.
Michigan and South Carolina were lucky #7’s that advanced while #11 Xavier is the lowest remaining seed. We expect the Musketeers will to turn into Mouseketeers when they face our tournament pick Arizona on 23/03/17. Kansas and North Carolina are now tied as chalk at SportsInteraction and top CSB sportsbooks are offering lots of Sweet 16 betting treats.
