Soccer Picks: The Manchester, Merseyside and Madrid Derbys
This is the weekend for any neutral to enjoy the spectacle of local Derby football. And it all kicks off at 7:30am EST on Saturday morning.
The Merseyside Derby - Everton vs Liverpool
Liverpool do not need this game at the moment. With a huge result against Man City in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal they needed the weekend to rest stars, and gameplan for the 2nd leg.
Instead, they have to go to Goodison which is never pleasant. Tackles will fly for 90 minutes, and if you're a Liverpool supporter you would do well to understand if Klopp wishes to keep some of his bigger names out of harms way.
With Salah suffering a minor groin injury on Wednesday, it's a safe bet to say he won't play. Everton, after getting embarrassed by Manchester City last weekend, will be able to put that out of memory quickly this Saturday. As soon as the first vicious tackle flies in, form will go out the window and it'll be an all out brawl.
Liverpool are 10 points clear of Chelsea who sit 5th. They would like 3 points, but it'll be more crucial for them to walk out in one piece.Everton +0.5 (-105) BODOG
Title Day in Manchester? - Man City vs Man United
After the worst result possible against Liverpool on Wednesday, Manchester City really need this game at the moment.
With a victory this Saturday April 7th at 12:30pm EST the Citizens can get that good feeling about themselves back, thrill their fans and perhaps provide a glimmer of hope that they can overcome the 3 goal deficit that faces them on Tuesday.
The role of the villain Saturday will be played by none other than Jose Mourinho who only needs to get a point to delay the inevitable City triumph and save the travelling United fans the shame of watching City celebrate the title at their expense.
Liverpool can punish Manchester City's defensive negligence like no one else, in England. Manchester United can not. They will sit too deep and fail to hold the ball for long enough before City win the ball back and go at them again. The pressure will come in waves because City will be an angry bunch this weekend. They will get the job done domestically even if they fall flat on the continent.Manchester City (-110) William Hill
Spurs march on - Stoke City vs Tottenham
Also on Saturday, Tottenham, fresh off their first win at Stamford Bridge in 28 years welcome relegation bound Stoke who don't stand a chance in this one. Tottenham have blasted Stoke the last four meetings beating them by a combined score of 17-1.
The manager for the Potters is different but regardless, this will be nothing less than another convincing win.Tottenham -1.5 (-110) Bodog
The Madrid Derby - Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid
Diego Costa is back in Spain meaning that Sunday at 10:15am him and Sergio Ramos will foul one another for 90 minutes to see who can get away with more violence. Both Madrid sides go into their 2nd leg European ties comfortably meaning that no one will be rested this weekend and both teams will go all out.
Domestically Atleti do well in this fixture and I think they keep this very close. Ronaldo is in Superman mode meaning he can win a match all on his own these days, but Simeone will bring plenty of kryptonite. I see Real squeaking this one out off a Ronaldo goal, and fortunately, we can such a wager is available.Ronaldo scores and Real Madrid win (+130) William Hill
