PSG vs Barcelona Odds 2017

My Team's Next MatchPSG

They choked, and now their punishment is the Mighty Barcelona.

Barcelona, who have not had a great season by their lofty standards, look like they have put to rest all concerns. They are 9-2-0 in their last 11 games, they've cut Real Madrid's lead in Spain to a mere 1 point, booked a spot in the Copa Del Rey final and are the odds on the favorites to win the Champions League. And to put the ideal perspective on them we need to look no further than this past weekend. Saturday they visited Deportivo Alaves, the David who shocked Goliath earlier this season by winning 2-1 at the Camp Nou; a newly promoted side team that defends well and only concedes 1 goal a game by average, in La Liga. Barcelona beat them 6-0.

Here are Barcelona's results in the first knockout game the last 3 seasons (all away)

  • 2015/16 Round of 16 @ Arsenal: Barcelona 2-0
  • 2014/15 Round of 16 @ Man City: Barcelona 2-1
  • 2013/14 Round of 16 @ Man City: Barcelona 2-0

This is the part of the season where they excel. Expect no mistakes. PSG has many good pieces in this side but without the presence of Zlatan, or dare I say even David Luiz, clearly lack the gravitas needed for such a big occasion. Even if PSG can play up to a level that we have not seen yet this season, I foresee a patient Barcelona side carving out the 1-2 chances they need and taking a lead back to Spain for the second leg. If PSG are not at their tactical best, Barcelona will simply play them off the park like we've seen them do to good teams countless times in this format.

PSG vs Barcelona Odds To Win The Champions League

As mentioned above, Barcelona are the odds on favorite to win the Champions League this year, and if you believe like I do that they have the best shot of winning the whole thing then -by all means- invest in their futures. But you didn't come here for me to tell you that Barcelona are really good - you already knew that. So let me give you two sleepers in hope of a huge payout or even a huge hedge opportunity later on in the competition.

I've heard that Seville is the most beautiful city in Spain. Having never been I can't comment, but they are without question the most beautiful bet on this board. The three-time defending Europa League Champions are finely tuned for this competition: You can even call them specialists. They should easily see off a Leicester side who are crumbling right before our eyes, meaning that they'll be in the Final 8 teams with a 28/1 value.

One more favorable draw and you're looking at a definite pay day.

The Ligue 1 leaders who score goals for fun (75 goals in 25 games) and who have +52 goal differential get to test themselves against Manchester City, a team who on their best day will still concede a handful of goal scoring opportunities. I am predicting Monaco to beat Man City and advance to the quarterfinal which is in itself a +200 proposition on BET365. Of all the round of 16 matchups, this is your best value play.

The Collapsing European Super League: Is There Still Hope?
The Collapsing European Super League: Is There Still Hope?

The European Super League (ESL) was supposed to be the breakaway club for top European football clubs, the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Liverpool to name a few.

The full list of Super League clubs:

  • English - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham.
  • Spanish - Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid.
  • Italian - AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus.

However, plans broke down the very next day after the featured clubs made the announcement, led by Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez. Perez has been defiant in the face of big clubs like Juventus and Manchester City dropping out, with the governing body FIFA also threatening to ban teams from their domestic leagues.

The anger and frustration at the decision to go ahead with a Super League boiled over when fans of Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham held mass protests outside the relative stadiums. The announcement caused a wave of protest across Europe, as UEFA made it clear that all clubs involved would face repercussions if they were to go ahead and compete in the breakaway Super League.

But, what upset the fans so much and is the Super League really so different from the Champions League?
