MLS Week 33 Predictions
This week features a bit of a breather within the Major League Soccer schedule, as much of the league is involved with international friendlies, including the U.S. and Canadian Men’s national soccer team. Instead of a full slate of matchups, the schedule features a limited number of matchups with most of the best teams in the league enjoying a weekend off. Squads in freefall, such as Toronto FC, welcome the chance to reboot.
MLS Odds Week 33
For week 33 of the MLS, much of the focus will be on the rising Colorado Rapids, who have been displaying terrific flow on the pitch, earning their eighth one-nil win during the 2016 regular season campaign. Due to their consistency, they’ve jumped the LA Galaxy for second place in the Western Conference, five points behind Dallas FC with two games in hand. Cleaning up their plate this week will place them in the lead for the Supporter’s Shield.
Week 33 MLS Predictions
The picks of the week focus mostly on the western conference, which suddenly features a power struggle for the top spot in the MLS, as well as four-way fight to avoid being eliminated from playoff contention.
Colorado Rapids vs. Houston Dynamo Prediction
BET Colorado @ +200 at William Hill Sportsbook
The Colorado Rapids have managed to keep pace with FC Dallas, despite the superb play of the Texas soccer squad. Houston Dynamo have their sights set on next year, when they expect their young talent to compete for a playoff spot. Considering the solidity of the Rapids team play, there’s little reason to believe that Houston will deny Colorado the points that they seek, even if the Rapids road record suggests otherwise.
Houston Dynamo vs. Seattle Sounders FC Prediction
BET Seattle @ +213 at Bodog Sportsbook
Houston ends up playing another western conference power on the rise, as the Seattle Sounders FC are suddenly in the position to challenge for home field advantage at the beginning of the playoffs. Even if part of the Sounders’ rise can be attributed to the L.A. Galaxy slump, there’s no disputing that Seattle’s playing great soccer. Expect the Houston Dynamo to have a frustrating week, sinking further into the basement in the west.
Columbus Crew FC vs Chicago Fire Prediction
BET Columbus @ +220 at Bodog Sportsbook
If the Chicago Fire played in the western conference of the MLS, there’s a good chance that the atrocious season that they’re experiencing would be even more disastrous. It’s not like Columbus should be proud, as neither team is likely to finish with ten wins this year. The reason we recommend placing money on Columbus revolves around the moneylines, which nearly doubles the reward for betting on the better team.
San Jose Earthquakes vs. Colorado Rapids Prediction
BET Colorado @ -105 at Sports Interaction Sportsbook
The biggest challenge that Colorado will face this week will be the San Jose Earthquakes, who still have a slim chance of squeaking into the playoffs. The Quakes won’t relinquish their last chance to make the playoff dance, and will throw everything but the kitchen sink at the Rapids. Unfortunately for San Jose, they’re terrible on the road, and the Rapids are unlikely to squander home points that may lift them to a Supporters’ Shield.
New York City FC vs. D.C. United Prediction
BET NYC at BetOnline Sportsbook
The first eastern conference game of note this week will be New York City FC visiting the capital of the United States. Both teams need the points to meet their playoff goals. NYC FC needs the points to remain in the hunt for the top spot in the eastern conference, while D.C. United doesn’t want to regress after a big win against Toronto lifted them to fifth. Despite being the road team, NYC FC shouldn’t be considered too disadvantaged, especially considering their superb road record.
