The MLS returns with midweek games this Thursday, June 27th, and all three Canadian teams are in action. Toronto FC hosts Atlanta United, Vancouver Whitecaps FC travel to face a red-hot FC Dallas, while Montreal Impact host Portland Timbers. Here are our top picks from all the Thursday MLS games.
MLS Games - Week 16 - June 27
- 01TORONTO FC vs ATLANTA UNITED
- 02FC DALLAS vs VANCOUVER WHITECAPS
- 03MONTREAL IMPACT vs PORTLAND TIMBERS
- 04DC UNITED vs ORLANDO CITY
TORONTO FC vs ATLANTA UNITED
Prior to the mid-season break, United had notched up three consecutive wins in all competitions, and also comfortably defeated Toronto FC in Atlanta less than two months ago. This was the first match in a run of eight without victory for the Reds, and it’s difficult to see them ending this poor run against the reigning champions. All signs are pointing to an Atlanta United victory here despite being on the road, and the odds are excellent (2.90).
FC DALLAS vs VANCOUVER WHITECAPS
FC Dallas are hot at the moment and totally destroyed Toronto FC in the first half hour in their last match. They should be far too good here against a Vancouver side that has struggled throughout the season, and there’s a chance we could see a repeat of the 3-0 scoreline they racked up against the Reds given their strikers’ form. Go for FC Dallas (1.62).
MONTREAL IMPACT vs PORTLAND TIMBERS
Montreal are flying the flag for Canada this MLS season, sitting pretty near the top of the Eastern conference. Portland on the other hand have been disappointing to say the least considering their achievements in the last two campaigns. While they have managed back-to-back 4-0 victories, we think the Impact will end their run and be too strong at home.
DC UNITED vs ORLANDO CITY
DC United haven’t won in the league since May 13th, and have slipped to third place after a strong start. They have a chance to regroup here against Orlando, although City’s form is actually much better and they will travel with confidence. We can’t split the pair here, and think the draw presents a good opportunity (3.56).
