Manchester City vs Napoli
In Napoli's storied history they have played only 12 games against English opponents going 4-3-5. They have never won a game on English soil. But for this wonderful collection of players who have gone 8-0-0 in Serie A to start the season, and have outscored their opponents 26-5, they could care less about the club's past. They are Napoli's now, and they are very good.
The forward line of Mertens, Insigne and Callejon are as potent a strike force as any in Europe. And they will need to be when they enter the Etihad on Tuesday October 17th at 2:45pm EST, because Manchester City aren't fooling around.
Man City vs Napoli UCL Soccer Odds
Other than being held at home 1-1 by Everton early on in the season, a game for which they played the majority with 10 men, the Citizens have been unstoppable. They have outscored their opponents this season 37-5 in all competitions. They create chance after chance, the players interchange all over the pitch, press high, run hard for 90 minutes and suffocate their opposition.
So as deserving as Napoli are of all praise, I do not see them winning their first ever game on English soil this midweek.
Man City so far have 10 different goal scorers on the season and 3 players (Jesus, Sterling and Aguero) are all tied for the team lead with 6. They have 10 different players who have registered at least 1 assist. They play unselfish football like a finely tuned machine at the moment.
You can make a similar argument for Napoli who have 11 different goal scorers on the year which is why I think they have realistic shot at knocking them off in Naples in a couple of weeks times, but at home I think City will just have too much for them to handle.
