PSG vs Arsenal 2016 Preview And Prediction

PSG vs Arsenal 2016 Preview And Prediction

An early season clash between two of Europe's Elite will provide a good barometer for each team to see where they stand in the pecking order. PSG do not have the look of years past before the 2016/17 Champions League opening. Perhaps they need a few weeks to rev up; they lost to Monaco a fortnight ago before the international break and followed that up by conceding a late equalizer at home to St. Etienne this past Friday.

Now they welcome Arsenal on Tuesday, who survived a weekend scare versus Southampton and should have plenty of pep in their step.

PSG/Arsenal Asian Lines BET365

Let's examine the Asian Lines available for this game on BET365. Basically half of your wager is placed at +0.5 and the other half is placed at +1, so if the team that you are wagering on loses by a goal you only lose half the amount you initially bet as the 50% allocated at +1 would push and only the 50% allocated at +0.5 would lose.

Vice-Versa, if you bet on a team at -0.5, -1, and they won by a goal, you would only win half of the bet you placed, the portion alloacted at -0.5, and the -1 would push.

I will go into this with slightly more detail at a later date but for now I will say that I view +0.5,+1 and -0.0, -0.5 as the Asian Lines that offer the most value.

PSG vs Arsenal Betting Prediction

I am often very critical of Arsenal's performance's in important games. That being said I like them this Tuesday when they visit the Parc des Prince; and they offer great value on the Asian Line.

BET ARSENAL +0.5, +1 @-140 AT BET365. This line can also be referred to as Arsenal +0.75.

What is key here is that I am getting Arsenal at +0.5,+1 when I believe them to be the better team. Even away from home, this is an oppotunity that I will happily take. If we grabbed this line prior to Friday it would have been -110 and we'd have saved 30 cents juice. Even so this line still offers a ton of value.

PSG, without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Luiz on the roster and Tiago Silva almost ready to come back from injury, have lacked a leader on the pitch. They may be searching for a new identity and it may still take them a while to find it. Rather than sitting around and waiting for them to come good, I think it's advisible to fade them on current form. If Silva returns on Tuesday and PSG win convincingly then we will have a good indication of what the missing ingredient was that led to the Parisian's early falters, however, at the moment PSG is an overpriced stock.

Arsenal on the other have their best 11 ready, rested and with a very easy league schedule over the next 2 months should be ready to hit their stride.

In Last Season's Champions League...

Arsenal did what Arsenal do best. They barely qualified for the knockout round having had to pull out must wins against Anderlecht and Olympiacos, only to be drawn against the mighty Barcelona. Although they had moments of brilliance, they politely exited the competition without ever looking like they believed they could win.

I was very high on PSG in last year's competition. In the group stage they played Real Madrid twice and even though they did not win either match I felt they clearly outplayed the Galacticos over 180 minutes. They easily dealt with Chelsea in the round of 16 and when they had their big moment to shine in the quarterfinals, they absolutely pooped the bed and put in a horrible performance against Manchester City. The same Manchester City who looked like they barely wanted to play at times last season. The same Manchester City, who when they went to the Bernebeau in the 2nd leg of the semifinal, didn't even get a shot on target over 90 minutes.

Both teams are thought to be in Europe's elite, neither of them did much to prove it last year.
