Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs Calgary Stampeders CFL Grey Cup Championship

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs Calgary Stampeders CFL Grey Cup Championship

A truly Canadian celebration is upon us as Calgary and Hamilton are ready to clash in the 102nd Canadian Football League Grey Cup Championship. The Stampeders are representing the Western Conference while the Tiger-Cats are looking to return the title to the Eastern Conference. Kick off is slated for for 6:00 PM ET on November 30, 2014, at BC Place Stadium in beautiful Vancouver, BC.

Calgary Stampeders: Cream of the CFL crop this season

It was 185 days ago that we predicted the Calgary Stampeders would win the 2014 Grey Cup Championship with a futures wager at the SportsBetting.ag online sportsbook. Calgary was the cream of the CFL crop all season as they steamrolled just about every team in their path. The Stampeders finished the regular season with a CFL best 15-3 record and then eviscerated Edmonton 43-18 in the West Final last Sunday. During 15 regular season wins the average score of Calgary contests was a decisive 30.6 to 18.2 including 10-7 and 30-20 wins over Hamilton. Stamps RB Jon Cornish, 2014 CFL Top Canadian award winner, was sidelined for both tilts versus the Tiger-Cats but he’s ready to roll in the Grey Cup. The Stamps are a rock solid squad in every aspect of the game.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats: Get another crack at the Grey Cup Championship

Back in the CFL title game for a second straight season, after they were slammed 45-23 by Saskatchewan last year, Hamilton is looking to claim their first Grey Cup Championship in 15 years. The Tiger-Cats last title was captured with a 32-21 win over Calgary back in 1999 - after the Stampeders defeated the Cats 26-24 in the previous year's championship. Hamilton was slow out of the gate, they were 2-7 after nine games, but finished strong with a 7-2 run to earn a level 9-9 record. Like Calgary, Hamilton enjoyed a first round bye and then the Cats mauled Montreal 40-24 in the East Final last weekend. Special teams star Brandon Banks had 93 and 88 yard punt return touchdowns versus the Alouettes - an encore performance will not happen today.

Final Thoughts & CFL 2014 Title Game Call: Defense wins football Championships. The Stamps underrated defense (19.2 PPG), with their "bend don't break" mantra, faces a Cats offense that averaged 23.1 points per game - we see Calgary scoring 30 plus points here. As their inspirational and charismatic leader for over a decade, All-Star WR Nik Lewis deserves a second Grey Cup ring. That would certainly cap off what might be the final season of his brilliant eleven year career in Calgary and it's something his team-mates realize. Saddle up and ride the Red & White West Side Express as they declaw the Kittens from the East and cover the point spread.

SportsBetting.ag CFL 2014 Grey Cup Odds - Calgary vs Hamilton

SportsBetting.ag CFL 2014 Grey Cup Odds - Calgary Stampeders vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Future Betting Conundrum: When we placed our Grey Cup preseason futures bet, Calgary was posted with a +400 price at SportsBetting.ag and our wager was 250 units. If we passed on this contest we would bank 1000 units when the Stamps win or lose 250 units if the Cats claw out an upset. We gave up on Seattle one game too soon during the NFL playoffs back in February and Calgary possess a similar swagger. That said, a 300 unit wager on the Hamilton money line means we get a 700 unit return if the Stampeders win and a 740 unit return if the Tiger-Cats win. While neither is 1000 units - it's guaranteed profit. Plus, no matter the outcome, we get to kick back and enjoy the Roar on the Shore. Futures investing at SportsBetting.ag - it's great to get in on eh!

Federal Justice System Passes Single Bet Bill, But There's Still Work to be Done

The amended C-218 bill to legalize single-game sports betting in Canada was unanimously passed yesterday. While it feels like this is a step in the right direction, there are still some barriers blocking citizens from gaining access to comprehensive online wagering.

The amendment to the bill was passed, excluding one slight alteration that the committee of Justice and Human Rights decided to change, which would have allowed Canadians to bet on horse racing markets.
