When and where is the Clarkson Cup?
Viewed as the Stanley Cup of women’s hockey, this year’s Clarkson Cup is taking place on March 24, 2019. However, unlike the Stanley Cup, where teams play up to seven games between their cities, the Clarkson Cup is at a neutral site (much like the Super Bowl). This year where to watch the CWHL Finals is at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto (the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliates the Toronto Marlies).
What is the Clarkson Cup?
Every year since 2009, the Clarkson Cup is awarded to the winner of the championship game between the top two teams in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. The Cup has only taken place in an arena in Ontario.
However, Canadian women’s hockey has had a team from three different countries in the finals. The Worcester (Boston) Blades from Massachusetts have two Clarkson Cup Finals wins and Minnesota Whitecaps won one back in 2010. The Kunlun Red Stars from Guangdong, China lost to the Markham Thunder in the 2018 Clarkson Cup Finals. However, this year we will see an all-Canadian final.

What happened in the 2019 CWHL season so far?
After talking about all the countries to make an appearance in the Clarkson Cup, 2019 will only feature Canadian teams. The Calgary Infernos lead the pack entering the Clarkson Cup playoffs, winning 23 of a possible 28 games. However, Les Canadiennes Montreal on could be the best team in the tournament and are entering the Finals riding a wave of strong performances.

The Inferno ended the season with four more points, Les Canadiennes had a much better goal differential (73 compared to 57 by the Inferno).
That does not include a 5-0 win against the Markham Thunder in the playoffs to advance to the Clarkson Cup Finals. That win was the icing on a superb run to the Clarkson Cup Finals.CWHL Playoffs

For the finals, Montreal remains the best bet to win, even though Calgary had a better season. Montreal is playing with emotion (as some players are rallying around a recent Nova Scotia tragedy to give their run to the finals even more purpose).
In some sense, Montreal fills like a team of destiny, which happens every so often in the NHL. Bet Montreal to defeat Calgary on March 24.
Pick: Montreal to win the 2019 Clarkson Cup
