Senators vs Flyers NHL Point Spread Odds And Prediction
How Much Roster Movement Is Coming To Ottawa?
Trade rumors have been out in full force already this week as we've already seen a select few teams sit guys down who are almost assuredly on their way out the door. Ottawa has plenty of guys in that position - although who they are exactly isn't a done deal - but with this being the Sens final game before the deadline arrives, you've got to wonder who, if any, will end up being in street clothes by the time this puck is dropped.
Ottawa has opened up as a slight home underdog for this matchup and if they do sit any of their bigger names, the price on Philadelphia is only going to go up. So, if you believe Ottawa will end up sending guys out before this game (or at least sitting them), and like the Flyers ML as a byproduct of that, I'd suggest jumping on Philadelphia sooner than later.
Their new acquisition G Petr Mrazek has already looked good in his first game with his new teammates, and with 1st place in the Metropolitan division up for grabs with a win, Philly has got to like their chances against a bad and distracted Ottawa team to get a W here.
Philadelphia Flyers Vs Ottawa Senators Odds
Philadelphia (-130) Vs Ottawa (+110): Total: 5.5
These two teams played in Philadelphia at the beginning of the month and it was a rare win for Ottawa as the Senators prevailed 4-3 in a shootout.
Ottawa cashed in a nice +170 ticket that day for bettors, and surprisingly enough, the Senators are now 2-0 SU against the Flyers this year. Given the different trajectories of the two teams this season, Ottawa going for the season sweep here is out of the norm.
Simply put though, I'm not sure the Senators are able to get it done simply because there is too much uncertainty surrounding the team right now. Everyone knows major changes are coming and not knowing who, where, and when those changes end up happening can be a divisive force to a team. That, and the fact that Ottawa continues to let in 3+ goals on the regular (nine of last 10 the Sens have allowed 3 or more) and the Flyers at -130 is very attractive.
Philadelphia Vs Ottawa Selection: Philadelphia ML (-130)
There really is no need to out-think this play here as the Senators continue to be a great 'fade' in the NHL and with the possibility of being shorthanded in terms of numbers and talent, this price is simply too short to pass up on the Flyers. Philadelphia could catch Washington for 1st place in the division with a win, and with a four-game winning streak on the line, Philadelphia will be determined to get the job done.
The Flyers biggest concern for most of the year has been goaltending, but the addition of Mrazek should solve that long-term, but for this specific game I don't think it will matter too much. As I mentioned earlier, Ottawa routinely gives up 3+ goals and the Flyers are 5-1 SU the last six times they've scored 3 or more times.
With Philadelphia on a 5-2 SU run on the road against teams with a losing record at home, and 5-0 SU anywhere against a losing team, look for them to take advantage of a tired and dysfunctional Senators team who is just 2-10 SU when playing their 3rd game in four nights.
