Ottawa Looking To Hand Nashville Its 2nd Loss In As Many Nights?
Can Ottawa Make It Four Of Five?
For how dismal this entire season has been for the Ottawa Senators, making it four wins in five games with a W tonight would actually be a significant accomplishment for this team.
The Senators haven't had much go their way this year, but they have played some good hockey of late and a win over a championship contender like Nashville would only help boost their confidence going forward. It's probably too late to make a playoff run this season, but it's never too soon to build for the future and that's the path the Sens have to take now.
Nashville comes in having had their three-game win streak snapped in Toronto last night as for the first time in four games the Predators actually had some trouble scoring. Nashville had scored 5 goals in each of those three consecutive wins they had, but against a Toronto team that has had trouble keeping the puck out of their net this year at times, the mighty Preds offense could only muster two tallies.
They still got a point in the standings though via the shootout loss, and they'd love to get back on track offensively against a Sens team that has trouble keeping the puck out of their own net as well.
Nashville Predators Vs Ottawa Senators Odds
Nashville (+165) Vs Ottawa (-195): Total: 5.5
Ottawa is always going to be a home underdog in a matchup like this, and while the situation does favour them with the Preds playing on consecutive nights, I wouldn't let yourself get too tempted by the ML price on the Senators. Yes, they've won three of four coming into action this evening, but they still can't keep the puck out of the net and if they aren't scoring 4+ themselves when that happens, the chances of a SU win aren't very high, especially against quality teams like the one this Nashville organization brings to town.
Nashville Vs Ottawa Selection: Over 5.5 Goals (+105)
Laying the chalk with Nashville isn't something I particularly want to do either with this being the latter half of a back-to-back for them, and the third in four nights overall. They've played consecutive OT games coming in as well and eventually those tired legs will catch up to them. I don't think it will overly hurt them in this contest, but tired legs can lead to defensive lapses which should help Ottawa's offense carry their own weight in regards to this total.
Nashville will get their offense rolling again against a team that ranks 3rd last in the league in goals allowed per game (3.35). The Predators should be able to get to 4 goals here, and with seven of their last eight trips here as an organization cashing "Over" tickets, we should see a fast-paced game with plenty of goals to go around. Ottawa's high confidence level offensively right now will help this total creep over the number and that's only if we need it and the Preds don't blow them out 5-1 or something.
