NHL Playoff Predictions: Penguins vs Senators Game 3

NHL Playoff Predictions: Penguins vs Senators Game 3

Penguins at Senators NHL Playoffs Game 2 Review

Our Greed Angel got the better of our Practical Angel as we were on the right side of Game 2 but a 1-0 Penguins victory sunk our puck line wager. The worst part is that we were sold on the Pens earning a slim win over the Sens right up until just before we published our prediction. The moral of the story is simple; trust the hard work you put into your research and ignore the need for greed.

My Team's Next MatchOttawa Senators

While the 1-0 score, as well as the Penguins 29-23 shot edge, indicates this was a close contest, Pittsburgh was the better team in Game 2. The Steel City Crew outhit Ottawa by a 50-36 margin and Sidney Crosby & Co. dominated the dot with a 37-23 faceoff win advantage. If Pittsburgh gets their ice cold power play heated up (0-6 during the first two battles) the Senators are in big trouble.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Ottawa Senators Game 3 Preview and Prediction

Where has the Pittsburgh offence gone? That’s a question being pondered by many as the Penguins have just two goals over the first two games of the East Final. That is rather surprising futility after the Pens lit the lamp 41 times during their first twelve playoff contests. Sid The Kid is amongst a growing group of frustrated Penguins as Crosby still hasn’t recorded a point and he’s been held to just four shots over the first two matches. A Pens scoring break-out is now overdue in this series.

Though a 2-0 series lead would have been sweet, the Senators return home for their first Eastern Conference Finals match since they hosted and beat Buffalo 1-0 on May 14, 2007. A decade later, the lone Canadian Stanley Cup hope needs to find a way to score as 1.5 goals per game won’t cut it in the long run versus the potent Penguins. Ottawa is full marks for stifling Pittsburgh as they have been solid on defense and Craig Anderson seems to have built a wall in front of his net.

260 Units Pittsburgh (-130) Money Line Bet William Hill

Partially frustrated by our Game 1 loss in OT, but mostly believing the Penguins were due to bust out at home, we bet on goals being scored during Game 2. That didn’t happen and our bankroll is now dented to the tune of 360 units on this series. That’s a stark contrast to 300 units we have earned thanks to a 3-0 record during the Ducks vs Predators fight in the West Final. Bodog still doesn't trust Ottawa, as the Senators are home pups with a (+110) ML. Tempted by the Pens -1.5 (+245) puck line, we will chip away at our deficit with a 260-unit bet on the Penguins (-130) ML.

NHL Futures Update: Odds To Win The 2017 Stanley Cup

After their Game 2 win, Pittsburgh lost the value that was added after they dropped the East Final opener. Though not runaway favorites, the Penguins remain as overall chalk as their price went from (+210) to (+150). Dipping to a playoff low (+300) following their 2-1 OT win during Game 1, Ottawa’s odds have been inflated as the Senators head home with a (+500) NHL Championship line. Feeling the winner of the West claims the Cup - we don’t like either team in the East.

Nashville scored twice in the third period of their 2-1 Western Conference Final Game 3 win and now lead Anaheim by a 2-1 series margin. Winning their franchise first West Final home game, the Predators are now (-300) favorites to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Preds are hot on the Penguins heels as they are second favorites (+175) on the CSB Stanley Cup futures board. The Ducks have dropped into a longshot tie with the Senators with a (+500) money line NHL title price.
