NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will Canucks Upset The Maple Leafs On HNIC?

Vancouver did the best they could to overcome the loss of key personnel, but the Canucks have sunk to second last in the Pacific Division after losing eight of their last ten matches. Life won’t get any easier against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who returned from a difficult road trip with a rejuvenating win on home ice.

The Ottawa Senators are worse off than the Canucks, but the Senators have earned points in six of their last ten, which suggests that Ottawa’s managed to find a way to improve from within. Unfortunately for the Sens, the Tampa Bay Lightning will look for a bounce back win after their offense stuttered during their last game against the Montreal Canadiens.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Oilers at Stars – Bet Dallas SU (-160)

Dallas and the Edmonton Oilers have played twice this year, splitting a pair of high-scoring contests. Each team won a game on home ice, with the previous Dallas win beating the puckline. These squads have also split their last ten meetings with each other, and won five of their last ten overall. As such, the biggest advantage of the evening will be home ice for Dallas, where they’ve won 15 of 21 games. Since the Stars play well in Texas, choose the straight up wager for Dallas.

Lightning at Senators – Bet Tampa Bay puckline (-1.5, +130)

Tampa’s beaten the Senators in five of their past six meetings and nine of the last twelve. Ottawa played well against the Lightning the last time they met, with Tampa Bay needing overtime to ice the Sens in Florida. This time, Tampa will invade Kanata, Ontario, where the Senators have a record above .500. However, the Sens played last night, giving Tampa the rest advantage.

The Lightning also happen to be the best road team in the NHL while Ottawa struggles to maintain relevance in the eastern conference. Choosing the puckline provides a much better payout than a straight up wager for Tampa, which hovers around -225.

Canucks at Maple Leafs – Bet Toronto Puckline (-1.5, +135)

The Toronto-Vancouver matchup has been fairly even over the past half-decade, with the Leafs and the Canucks splitting the previous ten meetings. Recently, the Canucks have won two in a row against Toronto, with both victories taking place out west. This time, Vancouver plays against the Leafs in Ontario, without top forwards Horvat and Baertschi.

Toronto enjoyed a strong win against the Sharks a couple of days ago, while the Canucks were blown out by 5-0 during their last contest. Since the odds are stacked heavily against Vancouver, you’ll need to select Toronto’s puckline to earn a decent payout for betting on the favorite.

Ducks at Flames – Bet Anaheim SU (-105)

The Calgary Flames have been beaten up by the Ducks over the past few years, including two playoff rounds where Anaheim took both series with a combined record of 8-1. In regular season play, Anaheim’s won 10 of the last 12 meetings against Calgary.

At the beginning of the season, when the Ducks were up against severe injury issues, the Flames shut out the Ducks. When Kesler and Getzlaf returned in December, Anaheim beat the Flames 2-1. Since the Ducks are mostly healthy, they have a slight advantage because of their extensive history of winning against Calgary.

Hurricanes at Bruins – Bet Carolina SU (+145)

Six of the past seven games between the Bruins and the Hurricanes have proceeded to extra time, with Carolina earning close wins in four of the last five meetings. Boston’s listed as a strong favorite because of home advantage and strong play over the past ten games, but the Hurricanes have played just as well as the Bruins lately. Since the Canes feature a strong payout and have a solid chance of winning, picking the underdog straight up offers a good reward for reasonable risk.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

Dallas Stars Beat Puckline Against Edmonton Oilers (-1.5, +180)

If a -160 straight up moneyline doesn’t offer a sufficient payout for betting on the Stars, a +180 puckline represents an acceptable risk on Saturday night. Three of their last five wins at home were by two goals or more, including big wins against the Blues, Sharks and the Blackhawks, teams which are all superior to the Oilers.
