NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will The Senators Snipe The Sharks?

Unless Ottawa starts a miracle run back to respectability, the Senators have likely played themselves out of the playoffs already. They’re 17 points behind the Leafs for third in the Atlantic, and 13 points behind the Hurricane for the final wild card spot in the eastern conference. Ottawa’s miraculous run to the eastern conference finals has been erased from memory, and the Senators might need to consider a complete rebuild.

Tonight, they’ll face off against the San Jose Sharks, who should be exhausted after playing less than 24 hours ago against the Maple Leafs. Similar to the Sens last year, the Sharks are at a crossroads, good enough to compete in the western conference, but unlikely to make a deep playoff run. Ottawa needs to take advantage of playing against a tired foe to mount a pretense of a playoff run in 2018.

Sharks at Senators – Bet Ottawa SU (-105)

Ottawa has fallen so far down the standings that they’re considered underdogs this evening, despite the scenario which the San Jose Sharks endure. The Sharks played a lot of hockey last night against the Leafs, and they travel to Canada’s capital less than 24 hours later to face the Sens. Typically, this is referred to as a schedule loss because the advantage strongly benefits the rested team playing in friendly confines.

Under regular circumstances, betting for the Ottawa Senators would be ill-advised, but the Senators should be able to win this one given the advantage handed to them by the NHL’s scheduling department.

Sabres at Jets – Bet Winnipeg Puckline (-1.5, +105)

The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the best home teams in the NHL, decimating most opponents who dare to travel into Manitoba. Buffalo’s the next team to visit Bell MTS Place after getting smacked around by the Minnesota Wild last night. Winnipeg’s heavily favored for the straight up result (-290), which means you’ll need to pick the moneyline to gain a decent profit from wagering on the Jets.

Buffalo’s the worst team in the east and finishing the dog end of a back-to-back on the road, so the Jets should handle the Sabres with ease.

Penguins at Islanders – Bet New York SU (-105)

Tough to say what’s wrong with the Pittsburgh Penguins nowadays. They recently dropped a 4-0 stinker against the Carolina Hurricane, occupy seventh place in the Metropolitan Division, and Phil Kessel leads the team in scoring. This season, the Islanders resemble the Penguins in the sense that New York features a slew of amazing forwards who can fill the opponent’s net rapidly. Both teams played yesterday, but New York will enjoy playing at home, giving the Islanders an advantage. Pick the Isles young legs over the Penguins creaky knees.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

New York Islanders Beat Puckline Against Pittsburgh Penguins (-1.5, +240)

The Penguins have been playing so poorly that previously unthinkable wagers against Pittsburgh have become worthy of consideration. Tonight’s game against the Islanders happens to be one of those scenarios. Typically, wagering on an Islanders win by two or more goals against the Pens would be a terrible look, but Pittsburgh’s 4-0 loss against the Hurricane suggests that something’s amiss in Steeltown.
