NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will Montreal Ground High-Flying Islanders?

There’s no doubt that Montreal would love to have the type of young, exciting talent that the New York Islanders possess. Instead, the Canadiens have squandered resources while committing to an older roster. Electric talent like P.K. Subban and Mikhail Sergachev were sent away for Shea Weber and Drouin, who haven’t lifted the Habs to glory.

Tonight, Habs faithful will see what it’s like to have great young talent when they face off against the Islanders at the Bell Centre. Montreal will need to play impeccable defense or risk getting run over by the likes of Tavares, Barzal and Lee.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Islanders at Canadiens: Bet New York SU (+115)

The Islanders recently polished off an impressive 7-2 thwacking of the Rangers a couple of days ago, showcasing the incredible young talent which fills the Isles lineup. Montreal returned from their week off with an overtime loss to the Bruins, which was the Habs sixth loss in their past ten matches. Until Shea Weber returns from injury, the Montreal Canadiens will struggle to win most of their matchups, especially against young, quick teams like the Islanders.

New York’s beaten Montreal twice in a row and plays better hockey, making their plus moneyline a superb value this evening.

Ducks at Avalanche: Bet Colorado SU (+105)

Colorado’s played some mighty fine hockey lately, winning six in a row and eight of their last ten, jumping into the playoff conversation. Nathan MacKinnon’s in the hunt for the Hart Trophy, growing into an unstoppable scoring machine who leads by example. Anaheim features a strong set of centers and defenders who will challenge MacKinnon, but the Avalanche enjoy home advantage and snapped a four-game losing streak against Anaheim the last time these teams met. Considering the Avs recent play, a plus moneyline at home offers a good payout.

Sharks at Kings: Bet San Jose SU (+110)

The Kings and the Sharks continue their NorCal-SoCal rivalry at the Staples Center in Tinseltown, where San Jose has won five of the last six meetings between the two teams. The Sharks have beaten Los Angeles twice in a row this season, but lost their first matchup against the Kings in October. L.A. plays slightly better on the road compared to their record at home, and the team’s lost their last three games in a row.

Since trends both recent and historical point to a Sharks win, ride the plus moneyline for San Jose.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

NHL Underdog Trifecta Parlay

There aren’t too many occasions where a trio of NHL moneyline underdogs appear to be playing better than their competitors. As such, linking the Sharks, Avalanche and Islanders into a parley presents a rare opportunity to earn a great payout - worth the risk of stringing bets together in a Pro-Line style wager. Make no mistake: accumulators, combos and parleys always carry extra risk, but the reward for logical parleys aren’t always this large.
