NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will The Flames Extend Win Streak To Seven?

The Calgary Flames flipped into high gear over the past couple of weeks, pulling off six consecutive wins. Since the Jets dropped a couple in a row, the Flames should be considered the hottest team in Canada right now. They’ll have a chance to extend their win streak to seven against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.

Vancouver started the season well, looking like potential playoff threats until injuries dismantled their top six forward group and halted the Canucks positive momentum. The team still manages to execute the occasional fine performance, as witnessed by a 5-2 win in Columbus. However, until Bo Horvat returns, Vancouver can’t expect to return to consistency.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Flames at Hurricanes – Bet Flames SU (-110)

Calgary’s smoking the competition over the past few weeks, collecting six consecutive wins before landing in Raleigh. The Hurricanes recently split a home-and-home against the Capitals, showing their ability to keep up in a competitive Metro Division. These teams have a -110 moneyline straight up, although Calgary will be considered the puckline underdog. The Flames own a 12-5-4 mark away from the Saddledome, one of the top away records in the league. Calgary’s clearly on a roll and comfortable playing on the road, so ride their winning streak.

Canucks at Wild – Bet Wild SU (-185)

Vancouver’s beaten the Wild in three of their last four matchups, including a 1-0 victory in Minnesota last October. This time around, the Canucks won’t have Bo Horvat on their top line, which will create matchup difficulties with Minnesota’s strong group of veteran centers. The Canucks pulled off an impressive 5-2 win against a tired Columbus squad a couple of days ago, suggesting that Vancouver occasionally steps up. Minnesota beat Winnipeg 4-1 last night, giving the Canucks a rest advantage, but the Wild should still be considered slight favorites tonight.

Rangers at Penguins – Bet Pittsburgh SU (-180)

The Rangers were thrashed by the Islanders last night, while the Penguins had an easy evening of hockey against the Detroit Red Wings. Pittsburgh hosts the Rangers today, and based on the performances witnessed last night, the Penguins should be considered strong favorites for the win. New York’s road record is under .500, which makes it unlikely that the Rangers performance will suddenly improve as they travel to Steel Town. Pittsburgh’s played well in 2018, winning four of their last five games. Expect the Pens to win straight up.

Red Wings at Blackhawks – Bet Chicago (-210)

These original six teams have split their last eight meetings against each other. Chicago will enjoy a notable advantage today because the Detroit Red Wings lost 4-1 to Pittsburgh last night. The Blackhawks beat the Jets in Chicago a couple of days ago, so they should be well rested for tonight. After a tough stretch earlier in the season, Chicago’s meandered back into the playoff conversation, hovering on the edge of the wildcard race. Detroit’s likely to miss the playoffs again. Bet on the Blackhawks beating the Red Wings.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

Chicago Blackhawks Beat Puckline Against Detroit Red Wings (-1.5, +145)

The Red Wings will be playing on fumes after a difficult defeat against the Penguins, while the Blackhawks earned a day off with their recent victory over the nets. Detroit’s lost two in a row by two goals or more, and a third loss appears impending. Chicago’s played decent defense as of late, and they’re prone to pour pucks into nets, making a +145 payoff a good deal for the risk required.
