Will Maple Leafs Bust Losing Trend Against Sens?

The Ottawa Senators can’t beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs, but the Sens have performed well against the Leafs during regular season play. Since 2014, the Senators have carried the momentum, losing only four games out of their last 15 against the Leafs. This season, the trend looks ready to reverse because Ottawa’s playing their worst hockey in years.

Toronto’s been up-and-down over the past few weeks, mixing strong hockey with bouts of disappointing play. The Leafs probably deserved to win their last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but witnessed a trio of late goals turn a certain win into a single loser point. Coach Babcock will make sure that his young lineup will focus on the positives against a deflated Ottawa squad.

Senators at Maple Leafs – Bet Toronto Puckline (-1.5, +115)

The Ottawa Senators have dominated the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past couple of years, winning eight of the last ten games in the Battle of Highway 401. Ottawa’s beaten Toronto at the Air Canada Centre in four consecutive games, with the Leafs last home win against the Sens taking place in April 2015. This evening, the Senators face an uphill battle after Chicago stomped Ottawa 8-2 in Kanata last night. Ottawa travels to Toronto on short rest after the latest depressing result.

Toronto suffered their own embarrassing overtime loss, coughing up three unanswered goals after leading the Blue Jackets with less than five minutes left, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Despite the disappointing loss, the Leafs have improved their play after finishing 2017 on a losing trip. Expect Toronto to take full advantage of an inconsistent Senators squad which seems to create new lows on a weekly basis.

Wild at Blackhawks – Bet Chicago (-125)

Chicago waltzed all over the Senators last night, hanging eight goals on the Sens in front of Ottawa fans stunned by their team’s horrible new low this season. The Blackhawks travel back to Chicago to face the Wild less than 24 hours after routing the Senators, while Minnesota flies into the Windy City after dropping a 3-2 overtime loss against the Calgary Flames.

Chicago’s beaten Minnesota in five of their last six meetings, including losses in November and December of 2017. A -125 straight up line represents good value for a relatively small risk.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

Chicago Blackhawks Beat Puckline Against Minnesota Wild (-1.5, +210)

Minnesota has lost their last four road games by two goals or more this season, including defeats in Florida, Tampa Bay, Nashville and Colorado. These numbers suggest that the Wild have severe difficulty playing away from Minnesota over the past month, which strengthens the advantage for Chicago tonight. Picking the puckline always adds a bit of extra risk, but a +210 payoff is a worthy reward for betting against the Wild, given the circumstances.
