NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will McDavid Perform Another Miracle?

Scoring four goals in a single NHL game’s always impressive, but doing so against the best team in the league shows McDavid’s otherworldly talent. Edmonton may have messed up a few number one overall picks, but it’s safe to say that Connor fulfilled expectations.

Unfortunately, McDavid hasn’t had enough help to push his team to the playoffs for the second consecutive year. This evening, the Oilers will face the Los Angeles Kings, a team which revolves around sound defense. If Edmonton wants a miracle return to the playoffs, they’ll have to start stringing winning streaks together right now.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Predators at Maple Leafs –  Bet Toronto SU (-125)

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won three of their last four meetings against Nashville, with a 3-1 result when they last met in March 2017. Overall, the Leafs have a tidy 6-2-2 mark over their last ten games, preserving their sizable lead for third place in the Atlantic Division. Filip Forsberg returned from an ailment briefly, only to earn a suspension for an illegal hit which injured Jimmy Vesey. The absence of Forsberg removes the Predators best offensive threat, giving the Leafs enough of an advantage for a close win.

Bruins at Rangers –  Bet Boston SU (-135)

Somehow, the Bruins have lost seven consecutive games against the Rangers, including a pair of losses this season. This streak ends tonight. Boston’s emerged over the past couple of months as a legitimate eastern conference threat, capable of sustaining a winning trend without top producer Brad Marchand. He’ll return for this tilt against the Rangers, while New York will miss Kreider, Vesey, Buchnevich, Shattenkirk and Stall.

These teams move in the opposite direction – the Bruins have won three straight and eight of their last ten, while the Rangers have lost three in a row and seven of their last ten. Expect a Boston win tonight.

Oilers at Kings – Bet Los Angeles SU (-120)

The Edmonton Oilers whipped the Tampa Bay Lightning because of a vintage Connor McDavid performance. Connor potted four goals and chipped in an assist, running rampant over the best team in the NHL. Los Angeles shows signs of breaking out of their slump with two shutouts over their past three games. The Kings also blanked the Oilers in January, although that’s unlikely to repeat. The Oilers won their last game because McDavid can’t be stopped on some evenings.

More proof from the rest of the squad will be needed to prove that Edmonton’s turned into a consistent team. As such, a wager on the superior defense of Los Angeles carries less risk than the run and gun Oilers.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

Boston Bruins Beat Puckline Against New York Rangers (-1.5, +200)

New York has lost by two or more goals in five of their last seven games, including a 4-0 shutout against a Leafs team playing their second game in two nights. Injuries appear to represent a serious issue, eating away at the Rangers defensive cohesion. With Marchand returning for Boston, the Bruins attack will return to full strength, making a puckline wager a worthy risk.
