Will Calgary Fend Off Avalanche In Colorado?

Calgary’s managed to overcome adversity created by Mike Smith’s injury, maintaining a horse in the race to the playoffs. Smith stabilized the club, which suffered from inconsistent goaltending which ruined the Flames otherwise terrific group of skaters.

The Avalanche have been surprising contenders in the western conference playoff race, blowing past favorites partly because of Nathan MacKinnon’s breakout campaign. Both the Flames and the Avalanche have lost six of their last ten, which makes this clash a vital pair of points.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Sabres at Lightning – Bet Tampa Bay Puckline (-1.5, -115)

Buffalo has been playing their best hockey of the season, recently beating the Boston Bruins and winning five of their last ten. They’ll no longer have the punch they enjoyed before the trade deadline after trading Kane. Tampa Bay added talent for a Stanley Cup run before the deadline, growing deadlier as the playoffs draw near. The Lightning have won 12 of the 14 last meetings between the two clubs, displaying the dominance that Tampa enjoys over Buffalo. You’ll need to choose the puckline to receive a decent payout.

Islanders at Canadiens – Bet Montreal SU (-110)

The Montreal Canadiens have been a solid team at home, showing a great deal more pride at the Bell Centre than anywhere else in North America. This won’t help the Habs make the playoffs this year, but Montreal’s strong home performance might be a hinderance to the Islanders playoff hopes. New York’s won three in a row against the Habs, but lost seven in a row beforehand. The Isles don’t play well on the road, which will likely result in a straight up win for Montreal.

Flames at Avalanche – Bet Colorado SU (-110)

The Calgary Flames have been holding on to their position in the playoff bubble, a point behind Anaheim for the last wild card spot and two points behind the Kings for third place in the Pacific Division. In addition to starting goalie Mike Smith remaining on the sidelines, Calgary will travel up the mountain on less than a day rest to clash with the Avalanche. The Flames are dealing with a schedule loss and an ailing lineup, which gives Colorado a strong advantage this evening.

Rangers at Canucks – Bet Vancouver SU (-120)

Both the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers were sellers at the trade deadline, accumulating draft picks and prospects by shipping talent to contenders. The Rangers have been horrible for the past couple of months, while the Canucks play with pride, even if the talent isn’t enough to compete for a playoff spot. New York is awful on the road, winning only nine games this season, and it’s unlikely the Rangers will suddenly improve. Expect the Canucks to earn a victory at the Rogers Arena.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night

Colorado Avalanche Beat Puckline Against Calgary Flames (-1.5, +230)

Colorado has lost five in a row against the Flames, including four defeats by two or more goals. This trend should grind to a halt tonight, given the numerous advantages Colorado enjoys. Calgary won’t have any time to adjust to altitude because of back-to-back games, and their lynchpin goaltender won’t be able to save the Flames. A +230 puckline happens to offer a terrific reward for betting against a strongly disadvantaged team.
