NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will Winnipeg Slay The Predators?

Easily the marquee match on tonight’s schedule, the Winnipeg Jets host the Predators tonight, with both teams welcoming trade deadline acquisitions who should provide a boost on their runs to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Jets arguably made the biggest splash with their acquisition of Paul Stastny, who might turn into the perfect set-up man for Patrik Laine.

Nashville added sandpaper by trading for Ryan Hartman, who will contribute scoring along with strong, physical play. With all due respect to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Predators and the Jets appear like the gatekeepers in the western conference, featuring great goaltending, deep attacks and strong defense.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Senators at Capitals – Bet Washington Puckline (-1.5, +140)

Many reason exist to bet against the Ottawa Senators this season. The Sens have dropped seven of their last eight against Washington, including a pair of games in the first couple of months. Ottawa’s lost four in a row heading into the trade deadline, watching depth players traded to contenders around the league. The Capitals have lost six of their last ten, ceding first place in the Metro to the Flyers, but Washington’s still a good squad. Choose the puckline to increase profit for betting on the favorite.

Maple Leafs at Panthers – Bet Toronto SU (+105)

The Toronto Maple Leafs have remained competitive without the services of Auston Matthews, who will remain out of the lineup all week. Toronto beat the Bruins and dragged the Lightning to overtime without Auston, as the rest of the Leafs pick up the slack. Florida’s not going to earn a playoff spot, but they’ve been playing like a post season team over the past month or so, winning seven of their last ten games. Since Toronto has home advantage and a profitable moneyline of +105, select the Leafs straight up.

Predators at Jets – Bet Winnipeg SU (-135)

This titanic Central Division clash will have consequences at the end of the season, with the winner much more likely to enjoy home advantage in the western conference playoffs. These clubs have split their last ten meetings against each other, with the Winnipeg Jets winning 6-4 the last time they played in Music City. The Jets will enjoy a strong home advantage this evening, among the best on their own ice with a 23-6-2 record. A -135 reflects the quality of Winnipeg’s opponent, raising the profit for wagering on the Jets.

Flames at Stars – Bet Dallas SU (-150)

The Calgary Flames continue to hold a vigil for the health of Mike Smith, who’s missed the last six games with a reported groin injury. Calgary’s managed to win three of these games and pick up a loser point against Boston, helping to maintain their positioning in the wild card race. Dallas will provide more of a challenge than the Flames can handle tonight, especially with the Stars strong 21-10-1 record in Texas.

Wager on the Stars picking up a pair of points this evening, separating themselves from the rest of the wild card contenders.

Oilers at Sharks – Bet San Jose SU (-165)

Edmonton’s managed to put together a three-game win streak, with their latest victory a surprising 6-5 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The Sharks managed to land sniper Evander Kane for very little in return before the deadline dropped, adding much-needed scoring depth for San Jose. The Oilers lost their last match against San Jose on February 10th, with the Sharks shredding the Oilers by a 6-4 score. Expect San Jose to pick up a straight up win by leveraging home advantage at the Shark Tank.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night

Dallas Stars Beat Puckline Against Calgary Flames (-1.5, +185)

The Stars have struggled a bit over the past week due to a hectic schedule which included three games in four nights against the Ducks, Kings and Jets – a punishing fight card for any NHL team. Dallas will be rested and ready to roll tonight, and they’ll enjoy targeting the Flames backup goaltending. Before their mini-slump, the Stars picked up three puckline wins at the beginning of February. There’s a good chance that Stars snipers will reignite, with a fat puckline reward of +185.
