Will Calgary Burn Streaking Panthers?

The Flames haven't completely tanked without goalie Mike Smith, who has backstopped Calgary's solid campaign during the 2017-18 NHL regular season. One point behind the Ducks and the Wild for the wild card and Pacific Division playoff spot, the Flames need to produce points regardless of the netminder guarding goal.

Florida's been playing well lately, winning two in a row and six of their last ten, surprising some teams with their speed and defensive depth. Calgary needs to keep their guard up to prevent a shootout at the Saddledome, and backup David Rittich must have another solid outing in net to chase down their western conference rivals.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Capitals at Blackhawks – Bet Washington SU (-120)

Washington enters Chicago at an ideal time, as the franchise continues a death spiral out of playoff contention. The Capitals enjoy a three-point lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metro Division, earning points in eight of their last ten matches. Incredibly, the Blackhawks have lost eight games in a row, one of their worst stretches since Kane and Toews lifted the team to Stanley Cups. Washington’s won seven out of their last eight meetings with Chicago, and a -120 moneyline offers good pay given the Caps big advantage.

Bruins at Canucks – Bet Boston Puckline (-1.5, +150)

Boston’s the bane of Vancouver Canucks fans, ruining the franchise’s best chance at a Stanley Cup in 2011 and winning four out of the last five meetings between the clubs. The Bruins have unexpectedly morphed into a legitimate threat this season, turning into an elite eastern conference squad which rivals the Lightning. The Canucks feature a bevy of young talent, but they need a year or two to mature into a consistent team. Until then, expect the Bruins to win big against the Canucks. Choose the puckline to boost profit.

Panthers at Flames – Bet Calgary SU (-140)

The Florida Panthers have been an intriguing team over the past few weeks. They won’t make the playoffs, but the team’s provided glimpses of what may soon transpire. Victor Trocheck, Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau and Aaron Ekblad appear to be ready for stardom, while Harri Sateri appeared out of nowhere to earn a three stars of the week nomination during his first stint in the NHL. Calgary’s number one goalie Smith will miss another game, but the Flames feature a deeper squad, especially on defense. Pick a Flames moneyline win.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night

Washington Capitals Beat Puckline Against Chicago Blackhawks (-1.5, +225)

The Chicago Blackhawks have been utterly awful over the past month, losing five games by two or more goals, including contests against the Coyotes, Golden Knights, Wild, Stars and Canucks. With the exception of Vegas and possibly Dallas, the Capitals offer a steeper challenge, and have a history of defeating the Blackhawks over the past few years. Choosing the puckline at +225 is a huge boost over the -120 straight up moneyline. Both provide good value, but a bit of extra risk more than doubles the reward.
